Robert Pattinson "very excited" for The Batman: Part II

Robert Pattinson has shared that he is 'very excited' for The Batman: Part II now that he finally knows what it's about.

Speaking with Extra on the Red Carpet for his new film, Mickey 17, Pattinson shared some thoughts on the script for the upcoming The Batman sequel. "I know what it's about now," said the actor, "Matt is a very careful writer, but I finally now know what it's about. It's very cool. I'm very excited."

This echoes other comments he made to Deadline at the same event where he also confirmed the film would film this year, acknowledging, "it’s a while…everything feels so long ago because COVID just erased three years."

Asked if he could reveal anything about the plot, the actor said he couldn't, but "it’s cool, though, it’s cool."

The Batman hit theaters on March 4, 2022 and went on to earn $765.95 million dollars globally. The franchise received an interim expansion with the release of The Penguin – an original series with Colin Farrell reprising his role as Oz Cobb from the first film – on Max.

The untitled The Batman sequel is scheduled to hit theaters on Oct. 1, 2027.

Hope they give Bruce Wayne a personality this time and ditch the "drifter" angle.

Developing Bruce Wayne seems like the next step for him so probably. Bruce always has means of doing things incognito though.

  When it's necessary, yeah. I wouldn't say the "drifter" gimmick was exemplary of 'necessity'. There's a scene where he just runs through the front door of the Iceberg Lounge and immediately changes into the batsuit in the bathroom or something. Why wouldn't he just go in as Batman, through a window or skylight? I also wouldn't say it was exactly "incognito". If I saw that guy somewhere, I'd assume he had a bomb in his bag. He looked like a domestic terrorist.

    Exactly. I enjoyed the movie but there are a few "logic defying" moments like that. For example, I like the scene where the police chase him to the roof and then he flies away. But why would Gordon send him up to the roof (where he'd be trapped)? Did he know the Batman had a wingsuit in his costume?
    But wasn't the incognito drifter gimmick taken directly from the comics?
    The Batman's personality evolved through the first film. From vengeance to something inspirational. So I have to assume he'll keep evolving through this trilogy.

      The drifter angle is quite a bit different from what inspired it in the comics, which is Batman: Year One. Basically, it was Bruce's first attempt at vigilantism before he realized he needed to become Batman. It wasn't part of the Batman 'modus operandi'. So, while it's inspired by that, the movie went very much in its own direction with it. I don't have a problem with that if something makes sense, I just didn't see the necessity of anything the drifter allowed Bruce to do. Bruce has also adopted disguises over the decades to get information he otherwise may not be privvy to, even as Batman (or needed a more delicate touch, situationally). They could do some of that. That would fit the noir detective piece.
      I just don't want it to be contrived. If they want to lean into that aspect of Batman's activities, cool; it's potentially fertile ground. But have it follow character logic.

    I assume because its Gotham and there are tons of shady looking people wandering around at night tbh. In a big city people also aren't paying nearly as much attention to such things. There are all kinds of people and outfits in NYC. I remember that video Henry Cavill did where he was just hanging around in plain site and almost nobody noticed him. A guy with his jacket hood up and backpack really isn't that conspicuous at all in a setting like that tbh.
    I don't remember exactly what happens in that scene. Maybe he just didn't have time to find an alternate route inside since he was sort of in a race with Selina. And/or he needed to get inside first in order to find out where to go to cut the power. Idk. Not something I really noticed or cared about.

      There's a lot of crime in Gotham. Most people on the streets just look like normal people, though. If it's Halloween, he blends in. Otherwise, that guy would stick out like a sore thumb. Especially if he was alone. It seemed like more of a vibe than anything practical.
      And while I don't have the movie committed to memory, I don't think anything was driving him to specifically go into the Iceberg Lounge through the front like that. He wasn't moving around inside 'incognito'. He could've done exactly what he did in the batsuit, even. He's still taking the time to put it on. If a character does something inexplicable in a movie, or something counterintuitive, it makes me question it. Stood out to me.
      At any rate, I don't see the need to keep it up in sequels. Why does he need to be walking around on the streets and going in to mob dens through the front door. The batsuit could stand to be less of a work-in-progress, and hopefully that means a reconsideration of the M.O.
      This is all intended as constructive criticism, btw. It's the only superhero film series I'm even remotely interested in at this point.

Its good that major actors like Rob and recently Andy Serkis are talking about knowing what the story is now since that indicates they really are finishing up the script or have already finished it. Casting for this movie can't come soon enough.
