The Sandman will be coming to an end on Netflix with the upcoming second season.

In an exclusive report from Variety, The Sandman will not be getting a third season. Showrunner Allan Heinberg said of the news, "The Sandman series has always been focused exclusively on Dream’s story, and back in 2022, when we looked at the remaining Dream material from the comics, we knew we only had enough story for one more season. We are extremely grateful to Netflix for bringing the team all back together and giving us the time and resources to make a faithful adaptation in a way that we hope will surprise and delight the comics’ loyal readers as well as fans of our show."

The news comes on the heels of multiple allegations of sexual misconduct against The Sandman's creator, Neil Gaiman. Gaiman's various projects have been being canceled over the past several weeks, with Good Omens being cut from a third season down to a 90-minute conclusion, a film adaptation of The Graveyard Book has been canceled, and Dark Horse Comics has severed its relationship with the author.

Season 2 will see the return of Tom Sturridge as Dream, Kirby Howell-Baptiste as Death, Mason Alexander Park as Desire, and Donna Preston as Despair. They will be joined by Esme Creed-Miles (Hanna) as Delirium, Adrian Lester (Primary Colors) as Destiny, and Barry Sloane (Revenge) as The Prodigal, and Ruairi O’Connor (The Morning Show, The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It) as Orpheus.

No word as of yet as to the premiere date of the last episodes on Netflix.
