Could a The Penguin season 2 still be happening? According to executives for season 1, "quiet conversations" are happening.

As the Golden Globes took place on Sunday night, the cast and crew of The Penguin was out in force. This, of course, led to questions about the potential for a season 2.

Dylan Clark, one of the executive producers on the series, told TV Line, "If we could come up with an idea for what a second season might be, there’s a chance that [HBO CEO] Casey Bloys and the HBO team would want to pursue that. There have been quiet conversations about that."

Showrunner Lauren LeFranc spoke with at the awards ceremony, and said, "We were meant to be a limited series, so I'm really proud of the first season and the story that we made. There's more stories to tell there, for sure, if we can find the right idea or the right characters." She went on to add, "I'm not sure about that yet, but I'm really proud of the work that we've done."

Considering the critical and ratings hit the series was for HBO, a second season seems inevitable. With The Batman: Part II due to begin production in 2025, however, it feels as though it will be some time before Oz Cobb returns to our TV screens.

    I'm not saying there's anything wrong with the first season here, but doesn't anyone just want these things to stay 'cinematic' anymore - the most condensed and distilled version of the story? This is one reason why I don't like streaming. Always scraping for content... Yeah, there's been no shortage of Batman TV shows over the years, but movie spinoffs onto TV is one of the things that overexposed Star Wars, IMO.

    The only way I want a season 2 is if they know where Oz ultimately is ending his story. If this is just to tell another chapter about Gotham Crime and not have a defined destination gor the character (season 1 is low level enforcer, turns organized crime leader) then they shouldn’t do it. I suppose season 2 could be the Penguin worming his way deeper into the machinery of Gotham (organized crime leader becomes a Boss Tweed/ mayor archetype) and then a season 3 could show the fall and incarceration of Oz (corrupt mayor becomes his city’s prisoner).

    Maybe a fun way to bring back Sofia organically in the final season if Oz’s semi-delusional manner lands him in Arkham.

    We got options.

    I loved season 1 but I'd prefer the team to go with another character. The Catwoman maybe ? Give the series a world trip vibe à la When in Rome... and it's a win.
