James Gunn has clarified just how much of Peacemaker season 1 is canon to the new DC Universe.

Speaking with IGN in support of the upcoming Creature Commandos, he clarified how much of Peacemaker will carry over into the new universe. "Now in Creature Commandos, you'll hear them talk about things that happened in [The] Suicide Squad or Peacemaker. Well then, those things automatically become canon."

"The truth is almost all of Peacemaker is canon with the exception of Justice League… which we will kind of deal with in the next season of Peacemaker," promised Gunn.

Gunn also clarified the order of the upcoming DCU projects and where Peacemaker season 2 will fall in the story. "It's really Creature Commandos, Superman, Peacemaker, Lanterns, Supergirl," said Gunn. "And then some things people don't know."

As of right now, we know the season will debut sometime after Superman placing it sometime in the latter half of the year, but no specific date has been announced yet. James Gunn wrote the entire season, and will direct multiple episodes as he did on season 1.

The returning cast will include John Cena as Christopher Smith/Peacemaker, Danielle Brooks as Leota Adebayo, Freddie Stroma as Adrian Chase/Vigilante, Jennifer Holland as Emilia Harcourt, and Steve Agee as John Economos. New additions include Sol Rodriguez as Sasha Bordeaux, and Tim Meadows as Langston Gleury.

Peacemaker season 2 is set to debut in the latter half of 2025.
