Joker: Folie à Deux - What did you think?

Joker: Folie à Deux is finally out in theaters for general release, and it's time to start discussing it.

Did it live up to your hopes? Underwhelm? Where would you rank it overall in DC films?

Boring all the way, worse sequel. Told u musical not suitable for this kind of film. Dumb director which already quit DC, inform everyone no third film. Pls make way for James Gunn vision. That's the way DC films are made. Anticipate new announcements of Nightwing and Red Hood, Deathstroke and Bane. All the past directors that make DC worse, get out of my sight like the bad taste Birds of Prey.

This is the issue with WB.They let success get through their head and give freedome to their directors to do whatever they want.Who even asked for a Joker musical?This already happened wih Wonder Woman 1984, Aquman 2 and now Joker sequel.Why not just repeat what already worked?🤦‍♂️

  Heard the Joker 2 box office not so good now. Empty seats in cinema.

I went to see it in the same company I went to see the previous one back in 2019 and we all decided unanimously that it was a 3/5 movie.

I would not dream of braving a theater on an opening weekend for a major release like this. I have been avidly reading spoilers however, some of which keep my interest piqued and some of which have tamped it down... hard. It sounds like a Harley and Harvey are just more predators in Arthur's world. As my interest in the first film was awakened by early rumors that Harvey Dent would appear in the second, so my interest in the second has declined proportionate to signs that the script has assigned him the thankless role of the good looking bully. I want to be wrong, I welcome correction if I'm wrong. But for now Joker 2 has been downgraded in priority from a theater viewing to an eventual rental. It sounds interesting but not what I hoped for.

Really? I actively avoid anything that might spoil a movie I am interested in. Even going so far as to not watch trailers most of the time.

  I sometimes seek spoilers for adaptations like this if I'm worried about possible false steps that could ruin the experience for me. This doesn't sound ruinously bad to me, just not worth a trip to the theater.

I enjoyed the first one, but when I read the sequel was going to be a “musical”, my interest died out. Well I changed my mind and decided I would go see it, but wait until the second week and wait for reviews.
Just before going I read some reviews and some comments on various Batman web sites. I guess I am sticking with my original plan and take a hard pass on this. I guess I will go see Michael Keaton in Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice instead.

- The first movie was godawful/an ACTUAL insult to the character of The Joker

- Man-baby dorks are throwing a fit solely because they killed their precious little weirdo incel idol

- Imagine genuinely being dumb enough to have not known 5+ years ago that this guy was NEVER the actual Joker LOL

Well Todd Phillips set out to destroy the first film and he succeeded! Congrats Todd mission accomplished 💯 I just hope too many people don't waste their money on it, Megalopolis is probably a better investment of your time and money 🤷

Damn, I was actually excited. I knew the musical concepts was dumb but I had high hopes and trust in Philips that he would pull it off but from what I'm reading, he didn't.
I think a musical wouldn't be a problem if other things filled the necessities of a Joker/Harley film. I haven't spoiled anything and haven't read details so I'm still hoping for violence. If he is a violent joker this time around, I'll be satisfied

I see this becoming a cult film down the line.

I haven't watched it yet. Maybe they did a good job, maybe they didn't. But it sounds very consistent with the themes and presentation of the first film. Fanboys who were expecting this Joker to rise up and become THE Joker, were always missing the point.

It isn't making a killing at the box office, but it will be interesting to see if it makes enough over time to become a true franchise under other filmmakers.
