Frank Grillo is about to appear in many DCU projects as Rick Flag Sr. and will be the first actor to test the studio's multi-media plans.

When James Gunn and Peter Safran launched DC Studios, they said the plan was for actors to play the characters across all of the various mediums, and Grillo has ended up being the test case. When Creature Commandos debuts in December, it will mark Grillo's first of three appearances as Rick Flag Sr. He will then follow that up with a role in the Superman movie, and then will play a part in Peacemaker season 2.

"He is a really cool character that Frank has been molding," Gunn told Entertainment Weekly in a new interview. "The character's also in Superman, and he's an incredibly important part in Peacemaker. He is one of the primary characters in Peacemaker season 2. So we get to see this character from different angles, and he is not simple."

"This isn't just a good guy, not at all," Gunn went on to add. "We see all different sides of his character. He is morally a complex human being."

Grillo is the first actor we know of traversing multiple mediums for DC Studios, but it certainly doesn't feel as though he will be the last to do so.
