Superman & Lois season 4, the final season of the series, is set to debut on The CW on Oct. 17 with a double-episode presentation. Ahead of the big premiere, The CW has released a trailer showing that the series is going out with some pretty big events.
Only five actors are returning as regulars for season 4: Tyler Hoechlin as Clark Kent/Superman, Bitsie Tulloch as Lois Lane, Alex Garfin as Jordan Kent, Michael Bishop as Jonathan Kent, and Michael Cudlitz as Lex Luthor. As the trailer shows, however, we will have appearances from Dylan Walsh as Sam Lane and Wolé Parks & Tayler Buck as John Henry & Natalie Irons respectively.
It's the end of an era for The CW as the last of its DC-based TV series is preparing to sign off for the final time. Launching in 2021, the series has seen Tyler Hoechlin and Elizabeth Tulloch reprising the roles of Superman and Lois Lane that they had previously played in the various Arrowverse series.
Despite continuing on in the roles, these were not the same characters as seen in the Arrowverse appearances and exist in their own universe.
The final season of Superman & Lois marks the end of a lengthy partnership between The CW and Warner Bros. TV that began in 2012 with Arrow and went on to span a total of six series in the Arrowverse, and one outside of it. The changes were brought about when Nexstar purchased the network and made it clear it would be focusing on lower-cost fares to fill its primetime hours.
Superman & Lois season 4 will debut on Oct. 17 with a two-hour presentation.
