With Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom about to hit theaters, Jason Momoa is saying 'it's not looking too good' for him to continue in the role.
Barring some unforeseen circumstances, the upcoming Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom will mark the end of the DCEU that began with Man of Steel. While a few actors will carry on – such as Viola Davis as Amanda Waller – the majority of them will be recast in the new DCU that will launch with Creature Commandos in 2024.
This leaves Momoa in a bit of an odd position as he has to promote his Aquaman sequel while everyone is asking about what the future could hold for him. Speaking with ET, the actor was fairly blunt.
"I don’t necessarily want it to be the end... [but] I don’t think it's really, like, a choice." He went on to add, "The truth of it is, I mean, if the audience loves it, then there's a possibility. But right now, I’m like, 'It's not looking too good.'"
Momoa further added, "I love this character and [I would want to] play it for a long time. I kind of see where I would want it to go. And even in the next 10 years or so, like there's a lot of cool things they can do. And I do enjoy the role and the world. So, I mean, it just comes down to if people love it."
As to those rumors of him moving over to the role of Lobo in the DCU, "I was a big Lobo fan growing up, I read every comic. So that would be really cool." He went on to say, "If there's a place in their world for me, I would love to be a part of it. This is my home. Warner and DC is definitely my home. So, that’s all I'll say."

The cast includes Jason Momoa, Patrick Wilson, Amber Heard, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Nicole Kidman, Dolph Lundgren, and Randall Park.
Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom will hit theaters on Dec. 22 in the U.S.
