With the upcoming Rebel Moon for Netflix, it appears that Zack Snyder's days of playing in the DC sandbox may be over. However, he has revealed there is one project that would bring him back.
In a new profile for The Hollywood Reporter, the focus is very much on what Snyder has coming up – Rebel Moon debuts on Netflix on Dec. 22 – but the topic of DC is a difficult one to avoid. With three films to his name, and plans for two more that haven't been realized, the topic was unavoidable.
Asked about the fact that James Gunn – someone Snyder has been friendly with for years – was handed the reins of DC Studios, Snyder said, “I called him and said I wish all the best for him. I told him I wanted it to work.”
And should Gunn ever give him a call to ask him back to the world of DC? Snyder said he would consider it for an adaptation of Dark Knight Returns, but only if it was “a true representation of the graphic novel.”
For now, however, Snyder's focus remains squarely on his upcoming Rebel Moon films, as well as the Army of the Dead and its various spinoffs, all of which are located with Netflix.
