It seems the specter of the Batgirl movie has returned to haunt DC one more time.
In Aug. 2022, Warner Bros. Discovery made the surprising decision to cancel the Batgirl movie. Destined for a release on what was then known as HBO Max, Studio CEO David Zaslav had decided to shelve the film as a tax write-off. At the same time, Blue Beetle was moved from an HBO Max release to a theatrical one, and with that came more promotion.
A new standee has made its way to comic shops to promote books related to all of the DC films, and due to changing schedules, some of them have already been released, but one, in particular, jumped out at fans.
The standee was first posted on Twitter on July 29 by Croc_Block.
He then returned a few days later with an enhancement of the bottom of the standee.
Yes, it includes the logo for the now-canceled Batgirl.
To be frank, the bottom of the standee doesn't make much sense. It says "Check out all of the DC films coming soon!" and some of them have been out for more than a year and a half such as The Batman. But even then, the standee should have gone through multiple people to be checked before it was produced.
For now, it's an oddity, and something to let you imagine what could have been.
