Hello everyone and welcome back to Upcoming Comics! This week I have some sad news to share with everyone, at the end of August I’ll be leaving regular reviews and the Upcoming Comics article for personal reasons. Some of it is time constraints, but a lot of it is just general life messiness getting in the way of things. I have genuinely loved doing this article, seeing everyone’s responses, and of course writing reviews for the past few years, and I’ll miss it all. I’ll save my sappy goodbyes for my final article, but I wanted to give everyone a heads up as we’re moving into August and those comics.
But enough of that for now, let’s take a look at the titles releasing this week!
Upcoming Comics
Knight Terrors: Batman #2

Bruce is trapped inside the Nightmare Realm, haunted by the dark shadows that he’s created. To escape, he must regain control of his body. But that means going deeper into his own mind than he’s ever gone before. Can Batman make himself scarier than he’s ever been to survive? Also, what nightmares have Arsenal and Black Canary confronted in the Nightmare Realm?
- Written By: Joshua Williamson
- Penciled By: Guillem March, Trevor Hairsine
- Inks By: Guillem March, Trevor Hairsine
- Colors By: Tomeu Morey, Antonio Fabela
- Cover By: Guillem March, Tomeu Morey
Thoughts: I was hoping for Bruce’s nightmare to focus on a little more original than rehashing his parents death, and I don’t see much hope for this second entry to be much more interesting than the last.

Knight Terrors: Joker #2

The Joker’s nightmares have been terrifying and horrific…but what does the Clown Prince of Crime have locked away that might be the most disturbing reveal of the year?!
- Written By: Matthew Rosenberg
- Pencils & Inks By: Stefano Raffaele
- Colors By: Romulo Fajardo
- Cover By: Stefano Raffaele, Romulo Fajardo
Thoughts: I was excited about the premise of the first part of this two part story, and it didn’t quite live up to all it promised. This solicit doesn't really promise anything and leaves me a little worried about what might be in store.

Knight Terrors: Poison Ivy #2

Pamela Isley and Harleen Quinzel are so absolutely, utterly in love that everything and everyone around them is just aces. Their neighbors are so happy it hurts. Why, even the sun is smiling! But when a few rotten eggs sneak into Ivy’s perfect little cul-de-sac, things start to go foul. Can the verdant villainess escape the clutches of her own spoiling dream house before it eats her and Janet-from-HR alive?!
- Written By: G. Willow Wilson
- Penciled By: Atagun Ilhan
- Inks By: Mark Morales
- Colors By: Arif Prianto

Thoughts: I wasn’t too excited by the premise of the last issue, but Theresa’s review of it changed my outlook on the book, and I’m excited to see how it wraps up!

Beyond the Bat
Hello everyone and welcome back to Beyond the Bat! Here we’ll take a look at titles outside the sphere of Batman and see what else DC has slated for the week. In addition to the Bat titles having their second Knight Terrors issue, there's some other books with theirs as well this week like Ravager. I have to say, I’m surprised to see Ravager with a solo title at all right now, let alone one of the Knight Terrors titles. It’s not that I don’t like her, but it has been a while since she joined Damian on Lazarus Island back in Robin, so it is a surprise.
Ratings
Most Excited: Knight Terrors: Poison Ivy #2- While I did not read this one, Theresa’s review gave it high marks and made me interested to see just how the team was tackling an idea I was at the time, a bit confused about. I’m interested to see where it goes!
Least Excited: Knight Terrors: Batman #2- This is another one of those Knight Terrors books that just did not live up to my hopes with its first issue, and I’m not super excited to see it’s resolution.
Wild Card: Knight Terrors: Joker #2- While the last issue didn’t quite live up to the expectation of some zany office adventures (I mean it is a nightmare) I have hope that this one might still do something fun with the concept.
That’s all for this week’s Upcoming Comics! Let us know what you’re looking forward to in the comments, and what your thoughts are on how some of these Knight Terrors tie-ins will resolve! Have an excellent rest of your weekend!
