Crisis on Infinite Earths and Watchmen animated movies announced

Two major new DC animated films were announced at San Diego Comic-Con that are sure to grab a lot of attention: Crisis on Infinite Earths and Watchmen.

Details were decidedly sparse on both projects, but you can see the logos for both films below:

The Crisis on Infinite Earths adaptation will receive a new name, Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths.

As to the Watchmen project, we suspect it will be an adaptation of the original 12-part comic series, but there is so much material under that name now that we can't say for certain.

Both movies are in development for home video release in 2024.

An adaptation of a big multiverse event comic in movie form is probably the last thing I want right now. (especially one without established universes like the original story had)

An adaptation of Watchmen (whether animated or live action) is only going to work as a miniseries, not a movie. (Snyder did a decent job, but it was just too compressed and missing a lot of important details for the build up)

Honestly, probably the best adaption they are ever going to make of Watchmen is the motion comic they made (fully available on youtube if you search for it)

My big issue with Snyder's Watchmen is that he put a big focus on action and characters performing super human feats, like a big reason Ozy catching a bullet is so big is because no other human can do that while in the film The Comedian in his dressing gown is punching through concrete and Nite Owl is snapping bones like twigs. I don't hate the film and its a film i will happily watch but Snyder really missed what Moore was saying and showing.

  Yeah, he was less into the deconstruction of superheros part of the original story (if he even got it at all that these were not meant to be good people) and more into making them all look "cool"

They'll never stop. They can tell there are big, important ideas in Moore's comic, that resonate with fans, but all this means to them is that it's a cash cow and mayhap a powerful tool for (re)structuring universes they've mucked up.
If they're making any kind of animated adaptation, you can be sure it means they'll be butchering Moore's work further in the comics, too.

Neither of these seems like a good candidate for adaptation, even if they make them each two parts. COIE seems particularly bad. Is anyone itching for another DC multiverse movie, animated or not? I'd think it would confuse people. Didn't the Flashpoint animated movie close the old universe a few years ago? So, what is COIE supposed to be *doing*?

Sorry to sound like a spoiled Batman fan, but I'd rather hear about adaptations of Dark Victory and Robin: Year One. These make a solid trilogy about the downfall of Harvey Dent and the rise of Dick Grayson. (With the caveat that Dixon's writing of Two-Face lacks nuance and would need fixing.) This would be closer to the heart of superhero stories and why I, for one, read them (the tragedy and the triumph) than another continuity-exploding event movie.

They definitely should do a double feature of Robin\Batgirl: year one.
though I'm not sure if I trust modern "writers" not to mess up the original stories by "faithfully" adapting them

  They'd rewrite or cut the Mad Hatter plot in Robin: Year One. That much I can predict. Two-Face battering Dick Grayson is one of the most startling, disturbing acts of violence in Batman comics. Who knows how they'd deal with it.
  Batgirl: Year One would be probably be wokified. They industry doesn't know what to do with powerful or strange females. I didn't like how they thought Gilda needed more motivation in TLH, so they made her a b1tch.

I'd prefer they leave Dark Victory alone. They already royally screwed up The Long Halloween.

If they can get the people who do Blizzard game trailers to make these movies, then I'd bite. Otherwise, I've been pretty underwhelmed by the latest DC animated movies.
