Justice League Vs. Godzilla Vs. Kong Comic Book Series Announced at SDCC

San Diego Comic Con has officially kicked off! We're getting all kinds of new comic book announcements! This October, DC plans to release a brand new comic book series entitled Justice League Vs. Godzilla Vs. Kong. The plot details include the Justice League on a seemingly normal adventure fighting the Legion of Doom, until a portal opens up the Monster-Verse. This brings Gozilla and King Kong into the DC Universe for the heroes to fight.

As said by DC President Jim Lee: "As a comics fan—there’s nothing more fun and exciting than exploring those amazing ‘What If’ situations that come up when fandoms cross streams! In this case, it’s a matchup of the world’s greatest Super Heroes in the Justice League who take on not only the King of the Monsters—Godzilla—but the mighty Kong himself! It’s a crossover no-holds-barred battle, decades in the making, and no bona fide comics fan will want to miss it!”

The series will be written by Brian Buccalleto. Artwork will be handled by Christian Duce and Luis Guerrero. Drew Johnson, Jim Lee, Scott Williams, Dan Mora, Alan Quah, Rafael Albuquerque, and Francesco Mattina will provide variant cover art.

In the current DC continuity, there is no Justice League book being published. The Teen Titans have temporarily taken over as the main team of protectors for their universe. This series announcement might be exciting for fans hoping for a dose of Justice League content for the fall!

They're just throwing everything at the wall right now, aren't they.
Personally, I've never been a fan of these kind crossover comics (the dissonance doesn't work for me usually), but this one seems especially desperate.

When you consider some of the threats the justice league already has faced, a giant gorilla and giant lizard just......aren't that special, unless the story buffs them or nerf the JL.
Once again, with the multitude of possibilites the multiverse can afford, if they really want this so much, they can easily create their very own version of Godzilla in a way that's less forced than this.

    I would say my point still stands. Titano still is it's own character, even if heavily inspired by Kong. It's able to be a little more than just "big monkey" by having a power that actually puts Superman at risk. And even then I'm going to bet he isn't frequently shown like other Superman's villains because he is really not that unique(this version of the character, at least).

I have no why everyone is so upset. This is freaking awesome!

The JL fighting Godzilla AND Kong! This is like a dream come true! Imagine the possibilities! Aquaman summons a kaiju to fight Godzilla, Batman and Toy Man create a giant robot to fight off Godzilla. It is endless!

I feel like all of you have lost the childish joy in your lives where Superman punching Godzilla does not hype you up.

I am embarrassed and ashamed of this community. Shame on all of you.

I want DC to do more crazy stuff like this. More stuff like MECH, and Jurassic League, bring back the crossover with the Transformers, do a crossover with the Power Rangers again, etc. Let comics be fun.

I with you on the excitement 😂 I love these crossovers, they're basically the only comics I buy anymore lol the Power Rangers vs Godzilla one was awesome, I've been looking forward to another good DC one since the GL/Star Trek crossover 🤣

You spent the past two years crying about elseworlds like Dark Knights of Steel, DC vs Vampires, and DCeased. (And probably DC Mech and Jurassic League.) You showed up in the comments for the reviews just to whine that the comics existed. You even once downvoted the reviewer of DKoS just for politely disagreeing with you (issue #9).
And now YOU are "embarrassed and ashamed by this community"? "Shame on all of you"? Because not everyone here is into the same dumb crossover that YOU want to see? You couldn't just do what anyone else would do and say, "You guys are crazy. This looks awesome!" You had to make this about how you're the right kind of fan? When everybody who's been reading your comments knows you're full of shit?
It doesn't help your case that Kaingerc and dead bird both leave more detailed, forgiving comments about the comics reviewed here than you do.

Yes! And unlike this crossover, I think the new Outsiders looks like a good idea. People have been waiting years for Kate and Luke to get their due.

    I think is because the batman fans who had read a lot of Batman comics (even before New52), know that this team-up is fun for some people but not that important... It will be a great seller. Some people enjoy this and DC Mech, Jurassic League, team-up with the Power Rangers, etc. And thats OK.
    Personally, I like bat related titles... because I grew up reading Alan Grant, Denny O'Neil, Chuck Dixon, Doug Moench, Miller, Dini, Morrison, Rucka, Brubaker, wolfman, Starlin, Snyder, Tomasi, King, Ram V...
    I think the bat-fans are more critical because we had many great writers and stories... (that is also why I don't understand the spider-fans allows the bad stories and writers that they suffers for many years).
