The Flash takes a massive fall in its fourth week

After nearly four decades in development, The Flash has finally made its way to the big screen.

The Flash landed in twelfth place this weekend with a drop of 58% from its third weekend. It took in $2.215 million for a new domestic total of $105.16 million.

For comparison, Black Adam took in $8.6 million in its third weekend, while Aquaman did $17.35 million in the same time frame. The former went on to a domestic total of $168.15 million, while the latter took in $335.06 million.

In the foreign markets, The Flash foreign total sits at $156.4 million. This brings its global total to $261.56 million.

Using the same comps as before, Black Adam took in $223.1 million from the foreign markets over the course of its run for a total of $391.26 million. Aquaman did very well in the foreign markets and took in $808.69 million for a global total of $1.143 billion.

The Flash is now in wide theatrical release.

I'm guessing David Zaslav is currently hitting his head on the wall and wondering why he didn't just wrote off Flash for a tax break 🤷

Sad thing is that the movie itself isn't bad but everything that surrounds it specially the horrible lead actor killed the movie on arrival

  I spoke to someone involved in the Batgirl production, they said it was as bad as reports were saying. It was right to axe it.

    Every movie deserves to be seen. Also it was a 70 million streaming exclusive movie. No financial loss was possible with stakes that low.

      Birds of Prey, Ant Man and the Wasp 1&2, WW 1984, Cpt. Marvel, Batman & Robin, most modern day reboots of old movies (Ghostbusters, Robo-Cop etc.) just to name a few.

      No, all those deserved to be released. No one said you had to watch them. But the people who made those films worked for years on them. They deserved their work to be seen. This is why actors and writers are on strike. Studios don't respect the work creatives do. Writing off anything for taxes is appalling. Particularly the way batgirl was handled.

      I humored you just for you to say, "NuH Uh!" Just because you work hard on something doesn't mean that it "deserves" to happen. Most writers get shutdown atleast once and their writing improves because of this. We should be using more scrutiny to determine if a work should be released. Not less. Maybe then, we'd be getting consistently great quality shows and movies instead of a handful of gems in a pile of straws.
      Honestly, the amount of good writers active in Hollywood now feels so small that I can't say most writers deserve all the stuff they're asking for. Pumping out garbage movie after garbage movie and expect great things? Yeah okay.

      Of course writers are partially to blame for bad movies. It's not all on the director or the studios. Not blaming a writer for writing a bad story makes no sense.

Zaslav hilariously tried to grab ownership of flash. Laughably touting it as the best superhero ever made and acting like it was his, and not just a movie he inherited. So it makes it wonderful it exploded in his smug face. This is well earned punishment for what he did to batgirl.

I think we all knew this movie wasn't gonna do "that" well... but with some early projections claiming 140+ million US opening, I guess maybe there was a chance... but no one saw coming just how much of a bomb this movie would end up becoming. This is such an embarrassment for WB. Worst CBM bomb of ALL time. Just let that sink in ffs.

Yeah no one really expected a 1B+ hit but i never expected it to bomb this bad. I guess Ezra is thankfully gone from the role so that's a win i guess. Best comic book film ever my ass 🤣🤣🤣

I wanted to see Affleck and Keaton play Batman again but I couldn't bring myself to pay for a movie starring that creep Miller. I suspect among the "comic book movie fatigue" there were still plenty of others that felt the same way I did about seeing Milker in the starring role and stayed home.

I saw The Flash at the second largest IMAX theater in the US at the week early IMAX premiere. I remember walking up to claim my tickets, and saw a straight up skid row-esque transient guy who looked barely aware of where he was or how to walk properly purchasing a ticket for The Flash with some crumpled up dollar bills. I remember thinking, "Hold up, seats are still available?". After getting into the room, I noticed that many seats never filled even as some people trickled in. If you can't sell out your IMAX premiere at one of the top three most prestigious IMAX theaters in the country, that's pretty telling.

does this really even still need to be talked about? Movie was designated a flop a while ago. Truthfully I admit I am a little surprised it did THIS bad with how heavily they were marketing this film and all the celeb endorsements. Doesn't really have bad reviews either(I still haven't seen it). Im guessing there must be multiple factors honestly, and not all entirely to do with DC's shot reputation atm since there are numerous films bombing right now and there is a lot of discussion regarding how weak the summer BO has been so far.

I think the reason a lot of the films have bombed this summer is either because suck or were never wanted. Guardians 3 and Spider-Verse have both done well though and both being great along with a lot of pre-release hype helped them do well. Indy, The Flash, Transformers, that new Pixal film and such all either sucked or were very mediocre. Hopefully Mission Impossible, Barbie and Oppenheimer change things around.

  Have not seen Guardians yet & I do believe it's a good movie based on the reaction, but even Spider-Verse & Guardians didn't do "extremely" well all things considered.
  Guardians 3 made less than the second part... even though I think it's fair to say the majority thinks it's a (much) better movie. Had that movie come out in 2020 like it was originally meant to, right after Endgame, it would have EASILY made more than a billion. Probably a LOT more. I still feel like Disney certainly "wanted" more. Don't forget it's another 250M movie. As for Spider-Verse, it's a really good movie and has been very succesful, but again, it's grossed around 600 million at this point. By no means bad, and a very good result considering the budget, but that's not "insanely huge" or anything.
  My point is, even "great" (comic book) movies like Guardians & Spider-Verse are not doing ridiculous numbers at the box office as they would have just a few years ago. So yea I really do believe that CBM fatigue is truly setting in.
  Can't really say why all those other movies are failing though... some ppl say it's bc poor writing, some say forced politics, some say this or that. It's probably a combination of all of those factors.
  It's a hard time to be a movie fan right now, but I think it's necesarry. It's becoming clear to studios that audiences are getting tired of lazy, generic "spectacle" & want quality entertainment. John Wick provided that, and clearly Mission Impossible will too.
  Barbie also looks very funny & entertaining, I've no doubt it will be a huge hit. Oppenheimer, probably will do "okay" but Idk... I haven't seen that much "hype" around it. We'll see.

    Oppenheimer is also R-Rated and deals with very dark topics, i think it will do well enough though as its 100M and Nolan's name carries weight. I think Barbie will be big though, the trailers were very good and its clear the film is very self aware and appealing to people who aren't even Barbie fans.

    Oppenheimer will do well as a Nolan movie, but I think Barbie will not live up to the projected hype. It will probably be just as forgettable as the Baywatch reboot.

      What I meant with Oppenheimer doing "okay", is purely financially... Projections are coming it at around 40-50 million opening. If we're being generous & assume a 3x multiplier, that's 150 million US total... hard to predict how much the international box office will be, but if it's 50/50, we're looking at a 300M end gross movie.
      Reportedly it has to make 400 million worldwide to break even, so with current projections, I am not so sure this movie will be a considered a "big success". I do think it has a solid chance of reaching 400M+ but I don't think it's going to do significantly more than that. Best case scenario is it's gonna be a 400-500M film.

lololol imagine the failure this movie would have been had Keaton not being in it. It's clear to me the little success this movie had was thanks to him.
This show the superhero fatigue is real. Which will make the new DCU collapse again.
That being said, The Flash has so many other things going against it: a problematic They/them lead, being part of a cinematic universe that never picked up and like I mentioned, the superhero fatigue

Not to mention, sh!tty writing, awful CGI, bad cinematography & art direction, bad set pieces, etc etc. I'm sorry but The Flash is just a lazily made movie. Compare it to how good The Batman was in so many areas (FANTASTIC cinematography, in fact, EASILY the very best we have seen in any CBM EVER & it's not even close. Even the GOAT Deakens agrees... nigh perfect VFX... distinct direction... good performances... etc etc.) & then we got... this embarrassment.
How Gunn put the director of this absolute FAILURE in charge of the next Batman movie is beyond me... but all it proves to me is that we're not "finally" getting the glory days of DC. It's just more garbage, generic, uninspired nonsense made by ppl who have no passion, nor care about the source material.

There is NO SUPERHERO FATIGUE!!! There is bad story writing fatigue. IF the story would have been good the numbers would be different.
I was hoping for a good story I did not get one. And, I also didn't like other things about the story. For example:
-Wayne manor grounds unkept; Bruce Wayne looking like a hippie. The man is a billionaire and still owns Wayne Enterprise. He is not going to let his mansion deteriorate and look like a hippie.
-Afflecks Batsuit was HORRIBLE. And, the Wonder Woman lasso of truth on him and the Flash was stupid
-Underwear scene was useless
-Butt scene was useless and gross
-Keaton dieing sucked
-George Clooney sucked
And, when Blue Beatle sucks it up, its not because of superhero fatigue, I won't see it because I hate the line that they have in the trailer : "Batman is a fascist" That is stupid advertisement.
This is my opinion. Its fine if you disagree with me. Have a great life.

Finally saw this movie last night. I walked away with the impression, even if the script was awesome, which it wasn't, Ezra Miller would have ruined it regardless. Political and criminal issues of him aside, he is it the most annoying actor to listen to for 2+ hours straight. I never want to see a movie with him in it again.

The best parts, Batmans. I will go back and fast forward to those parts and watch the hell out of them. It is probably the first time on film, the Batman actually moved, fought, rolled on the floor and resembled an actual bat. That was awesome to see. Make that movie...that one.

It was killed by Ezra, bad, really bad dad jokes (hire a f'ing comedic writer if you want to add jokes) and a heavily compressed Flashpoint story line. Oh yes, the CGI was odd, both good and bad. WETA who did all the LOTR films was credited, but I am assuming they cut corners and hired some off-CGI groups in edit or something. I was hit and miss. Glad this Snyder-verse is coming to an end. Lets get Aquaturd out of the way. WTF was up with that Aquaturd scene...it wasn't even funny?? Oh, and they messed up ending the Snyder-verse by the end credit, a fail all around.
