With tons of announcements on Tuesday, and lots of scrapped or canceled projects in the last year, it's time for the DC Universe to move forward. That leaves ongoing projects in limbo. Superman & Lois, however, has a bit of time left, according to Variety.
Talking during a press event yesterday, James Gunn and Peter Safran announced their new slate of DC projects, including movies for Superman and Supergirl and TV series for Booster Gold and Amanda Waller. When asked about the fate of Superman & Lois, Gunn was optimistic.
"[Superman & Lois is] a show everybody likes, so it's going to keep going for a little bit," Gunn said. That seems to suggest that the show will still premiere on March 14 as planned, and finish out Season 3, and a Season 4 might even be in the cards. The pair had no comment for Gotham Knights, another show left over from the CW's Arrowverse era, which is currently set to debut alongside Superman & Lois.
Superman & Lois stars Tyler Hoechlin and Bitsie Tulloch as the titular superhero and reporter. Alex Garfin will return as super-son Jordan Kent, and Michael Bishop will step into the role of Jonathan Kent following Jordan Elsass' exit after Season 2. The show premiered in 2021 and quickly became one of our favorite Arrowverse series. The first season introduced Wole Parks as John Henry, also known as Steel, and pitted him and Superman against businessman Morgan Edge, who was secretly Superman's Kryptonian half-brother Tal-Rho. Season 2 introduced Bizarro Superman and a new version of the villain Parasite.
Other upcoming DC TV shows, all announced at yesterday's DC event, include Waller, Booster Gold, Lanterns, Paradise Lost, and Creature Commandos. Dead Boy Detectives is still in production, but Peacemaker Season 2 is on hold, as Gunn is writing the Superman: Legacy film and is still at work on the Creature Commandos animated series, which he's already written.
