Batman: Caped Crusader and multiple other animated projects are reportedly looking for a new home.

According to a report from TVLine, HBO Max is no longer moving forward with the Batman: Caped Crusader. The series was being overseen by Bruce Timm of Batman: The Animated Series with J.J. Abrams, Matt Reeves, and Ed Brubaker serving as executive producers.

While the series is no longer moving forward at HBO Max, work is going to continue on the project as a new home is sought for it.

The other projects being shopped around now include Merry Little Batman, The Day The Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes Movie, Bye Bye Bunny: A Looney Tunes Musical, Did I Do That To The Holidays: A Steve Urkel Story, and The Amazing World of Gumball: The Movie.

There's no word on the exact reasoning for these change in plans, but the decision seems to fall in line with other decisions made at Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav took over. Other decisions taken by Zaslav in recent weeks included the cancelation of the Batgirl movie.

With Warner Bros. divisions still having relationships with various outlets such as Netflix, there is a chance this series will still find a home. No timeline was mentioned for possible decisions.

Come on dude… I can understand King of Atlantis, but why kill this gem on your platform?

I was more excited about this than anything in entertainment since BTAS...

The general audience was not going to watch this, so this is consistent with Zaslav's decisions so far. That's not a knock on the show's quality/merit and I don't mean to diminish your disappointment, I'm just not surprised Zaz did this based on his recent history.

I can't even say I'm surprised at this point. At least this is still being shopped around to other channels/services, but otherwise Zaslav continues to be the absolute worst

I can't even say I'm all that surprised at this point. At least this is still getting shopped around and has a chance at life, but otherwise Zaslav continues to show he's the absolute worst

I was dreading the discovery merger already, but it's honestly stunning how this has immediately become far worse and far uglier than I feared.

I don't think like this merger. At this rate i'm expecting The Batman 2 to not be greenlit.

Man, if that happens, I hope whatever's left burns to the freaking ground. The Batman is literally the ONLY truly good thing we've got going on right now.

The fact it hasn't been officially greenlit by now is worrying.

I get your concern about the CEO cutting stuff, but it's no surprise they haven't green-lit it yet; they (generally) only do that after finishing the scripting, using the script to determine financing, securing that financing, and pushing the project from development into preproduction. Plus, I'm sure you saw the other articles posted today, they got a new co-writer signed on for Batman 2 and Reeves just signed a multi-year first look deal with WB/D, so Bats 2 is safe. Everything else?...who knows at this rate lol

Any sane company would be banging down the doors of Matt Reeves and throwing bags of money at him to lock him down. The guy not only made the first movie fighting against covid, he made a critically acclaimed and successful movie. I'm not exactly worried about the batman 2, but I am more and more worried about the tv spin offs.

Wtf! Netflix produced The Gray Man with 200mil and only for streaming with one week theatre released. Then Batgirl only 90mil said expensive. Now my Batman animated series. Everybody now change to Disney plus.

First they screwed over paul dini and now they've screwed Bruce timm. Ugly, ugly stuff. To say nothing of how gutted many of the animated creatives of the completed works discovery has pulled are feeling.

I don't understand why Zaslav prioritized cutting children's programming when children's content is one of the biggest drivers of streaming subscriptions,

It had JJ Abrams' name on it. They made sure to include "diversity", "inclusion" and "reimagining for a modern crowd". Seemed like it was going to be nostalgia click bait that might have tainted the Batman legacy. Perhaps we dodged another bullet.

Now all they show is dumb-ass tv you use to be able to learn new shit on those networks. Now all you will lose brain cell watching that shit watch dc and hbo will be worst then it was before he took over.the only glimmer of hope is that at&t still holds a majority stake of the company. Discovery only owns 25% they can this guy if the stock goes down anymore. They need with more experience in scripted tv .not reality show crap. Cause all cancel my subscription if it becomes that shit .he reason are Society in trash bin.
