Black Adam Trailer - The man in black finally arrives

At long last, a Black Adam trailer has arrived.

The first Black Adam footage debuted at DC FanDome 2021 back in Oct. of last year, and now we have an actual trailer.

We're sure another trailer will come along as we're still a little over four months out from the release of the film, but this will hold us over for now to be sure.

Besides Dwayne Johnson in the title role, Black Adam will include the characters of Hawkman (Aldis Hodge), Doctor Fate (Pierce Brosnan), Atom Smasher (Noah Centineo), and Cyclone (Quintessa Swindell). The film is directed by Jaume Collet-Serra (Jungle Cruise) and written by Rory Haines, Sohrab Noshirvani, and Adam Sztykiel

Black Adam is scheduled to hit theaters on Oct. 21, 2022.

It's been out there for some hours now...

Anyway, it looks good enough, especially that sweet Justice Society!

It's clear Black Adam would end up beimg an anti-hero more than a villain for most of the movie, I just hope they keep the gravitas of the character as it should be

This article came out so late lol...
Honestly I found the trailer confusing for two reasons.
1) All the advanced/hi tech ships. Who are they? what are they?
2) So he died, but his son saved him but also we see him being "revived"... What the hell is going on? lol

Special effects look good. Hope they don't do Dr Fate too much like Dr Strange though it seems that way

I kinda get the feeling this might have the same issues as those Sony Marvel movies, though probably not nearly as bad as them (no Morbin' time for Adam)
You have a movie where you are introducing a traditional villain and already trying to build him up as an anti-hero without the connection to the main hero he usually fights with (in this case, Captain Marvel instead of Spider-Man)
Yeah, you have the Justice Society here to contrast him, but they don't have any real personal connection to Adam. (I know there's a similar story in the comics but there was build up towards that, with years of character development for Adam beforehand)

I am still tentatively looking forward to this, but let’s be honest this is a weak trailer and if it is wholly indicative of the movie, then there’s a few issues. The CGI is very dodgy for a movie coming out in a few months, particularly the flying scene with the planes. There’s no indication of when this film takes place or what continuity in DCs warped universe it is in, the tag line makes out that no other heroes exist but then how is meant to fight Shazam/Superman in any future film? The suit somehow looks great in BTS footage but doesn’t pop off the screen. The music choice is quite iffy. My biggest issue however is that The Rock just seems to be playing The Rock, the line delivery of “Well, I do” is really poor.
On the bright side, Doctor Fate looks really interesting and the trailer definitely didn’t give too much away. I just wish it made me more excited, particularly for a movie that has been very hyped by The Rock for so long.
Would love to hear other people’s opinions and thoughts.

You're probably just going to hurt your brain if you will try to figure out how any of the other movies fit with this one (though it will be interesting to see how they try and explain what the deal is with the JSA)
Regarding the Rock, when has he ever NOT played himself?!
I kinda doubt he has the range to pull off the Black Adam from the comics.

I'm gonna be honest. While I was definitely looking forward to Black Adam before the trailer. Now I'm indifferent.

The movie seems tonally confused. And it just seems like another average Superhero film. Not good, not bad. Just there.

I know a lot of people insist that Superhero saturation is not a thing. But my god am I feeling it now.
Most of the superhero films today don't even seem to be trying to stand out or do something different. They all just kind of blend together.

I'll wait for the reviews to see wether to give it a shot or not.

Between 4 MCU films a year, tons of D+ shows and DC's stuff yeah i'm getting tired now. Its why i love The Batman so much because it felt different, Black Adam just feels like a MCU film.

  Yeah, it's not just that there are too many Superhero films.(Which there are).
  It's also about how aggressively average most of them are. And they all seem so similar.
  Black Widow was average. Eternals was average. Venom 2 was so bad I left it midway. No Way Home, while worked for the Nostalgia, was a very predictable movie where nothing really stood out, Morbius I'm not even going to give a try, and Multiverse of Madness was another run of the mill MCU film.
  And they all visually and tonally seem the same.
  And now as you mention Black Adam looks exactly like the films that I just mentioned.
  It's like these Superhero films have almost given up on even trying to do something new. They all just follow the same formula.

  CBMs need to go back to solo movies & DRASTICALLY lower the stakes, with directors being allowed to complete their vision. The Batman is a great example of that. The stakes are high but realistic & not "end of the world" level. It feels personal & Reeves' direction shines through. It's not another generic outing.
  I've loved the MCU for ten years but yes I think their content after Endgame has been almost entirely bad, or mediocre at best, with the exception of Shang Chi & No Way Home. Everything's starting to blend in to each other. There's no real style anymore & the writing is becoming increasingly childish. Seriously, go ahead & watch Iron Man 1. It's crazy how much the writing has tanked in the MCU. Now everyone is just cracking constant jokes & the characters act like mor0ns most of the time.
  Phase 4 (or 5, Idc) really needs to go back to the drawing board & they need to focus, as I said, on solo movies instead of "building" a universe that's already built, on top of dropping the political pandering behind the scenes (I mean, dear lord the people they are hiring to write their shows... it's effing NUTS. I was looking forward to She-Hulk b/c I heard many comic fans say she has good stories & I kinda liked the premise of a female Hulk & then I found out who they hired as a writer & my interest was killed immediately. Especially after the trailer).
  WB has been very hit or miss over the years, but I've always respected how they were at least willing to take chances with movies like The Batman, Joker & TDK, etc.
  Black Adam definitely looks like a Marvel film. It's at the point where I honestly just don't care anymore. I am getting burned out by it.

I think a lot of the so-called "superhero fatigue" that the media likes to bring up comes from all the superhero films looking pretty much the same, not from being tired of the genre itself. I feel like superhero films haven't really evolved the way they should have.
A perfect example to me is Moon Knight. Moon Knight was a chance for Marvel to do something different, to add a tone of horror and weirdness to the MCU. But it turned into the same spectacle that Marvel has been putting out for years.

Seeing so much destruction in a movie is underwhelming and make the movie cartoonish compared to real life. Superman also suffered from this phenomena, sometimes for overpowered character you should limit their power in order to get them more appealing.

It's alright. I mean, it's not bad but not great either. Probably because now I'm at the state of superhero fatigue. Not that I'm enough with superhero genre, but sometimes need something "different" from it. This trailer, doesn't give me enough vibe of worth to watch or a must watch movie.

This is what happens when you get a mentally troubled radical "progressive" & tell him that he's perfect & a role model for ten years straight. The way he basically forced Gal to say these things... Zero self-awareness on his part.
      You know, I really hate re-casting but we're at the point now where basically the entire OG JL cast is done, or getting replaced. We only have Jason & Gal left, but I'm not so sure WW3 is really happening (anytime soon) & we'll see what happens after Aquaman 2 comes out & if it doesn't get boycotted for the Amber Heard stuff.
      Henry's willing but not being used. Ben's gone. Ray Fisher's has only himself to blame & is never getting work from WB again. Ezra is definitely gonna be replaced, if they even move forward with a Flash movie at all.
      Maybe we'll see Gal & Jason back, but it'll only be for one more movie respectively, after which both are done too. It's really quite incredibly how they royally messed up the "DCEU". As far as I'm concerned, it should just be scrapped entirely at this point. It's a huge mess... the only one I feel bad for is Henry. Gal & Jason to a lesser degree (at least both got 2 movies).

      It feels horribly cursed, to be honest. Almost every major player involved seems to be falling apart at the seams in one way or another. What a shame...
      Fingers crossed hard for Henry's return. I'm interested in Aquaman 2 for the Arthur/Orm stuff, but have no other draw to it beyond the spectacle. WW3 is gonna have to really impress me after WW2. Flash... I want it to be amazing, but Ezra... maybe they should just dump it and forget the money they spent.

This is such an untenable situation for WBD. They should probably take the L on box office, give the release date spot to Batgirl, and drop Flash on HBOMAX a month before the Batgirl release for continuity and perhaps draw excitement for Batgirl if Keaton kills it and film is as good as some are reporting. They can’t market this film for theaters anymore, but at least it could help subscriber count and promote/up box office for Batgirl.

  I guess according to Popcorn Planet, WB recently shown a few different versions of Aquaman 2 in LA, one being 20+ minutes of Amber Heard. They are trying to determine audience reaction to Heard post trial, and I guess how much of her they can take before their heads explode.
  The reason they don't want to take Heard's scenes out is....SPOILER ALERT AHEAD....
  Is because Mera is pregnant and yes, there is going to be an aquababy/aquaboy in the film, so it is a central theme in the movie. IMO, they still need to re-shoot Mera with different actor. The test film presented in LA had 30% of storyboard shown to the audience, so they still have time.

Long time coming. Hopefully it's accurate to canon and fun...
Looking forward to Dr. Fate. Hawkman looks pretty decent.
Finally having Black Adam on-screen just makes me want to get that Levi-Shazam battle royale and the Cavill-Superman mashup that Dwayne has been talking about for a while.
We're not getting any younger and neither is Billy Batson. I need to see some DC movies cranked out with these characters the right way in the next few years with fun stories, collabs and cameos!
