Aquaman And The Lost Kingdom, The Trench

James Wan confirms concepts from The Trench movie live on

While The Trench may have been canceled as its own film, director James Wan has confirmed that some concepts live on in the Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom sequel.

The Trench was a movie announced back in 2019 and was to be released before the second Aquaman movie. It was then announced in April 2021 that the film was canceled. Shortly after the cancelation, James Wan revealed it was actually a secret Black Manta movie.

With that revelation, it was sad to see us love that movie, but it seems it wasn't a complete loss. Speaking with ComicBook.com, Wan revealed that parts of it live on in the upcoming sequel. "Listen, I feel like everything I come up with, everything I do, if I come up with something that I don't end up using, that doesn't mean that I cannot be inspired to use that in a different way," said Wan. "That's my problem, is I come up with a lot of ideas and I have so many ideas just percolating, but obviously, I can't use all of them. So I would say of all the different thoughts and ideas I've come up with, I end up using maybe 20-30% of them in my work, and so I do have a drawer full of ideas that could develop into something else."

We'll just have to wait and see if we ever learn which parts exactly were salvaged. And perhaps the unused parts will show up somewhere else.

Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom is due to hit theaters on March 17, 2023.

Waiting for the jury to finish deliberating next week on the Depp trial. I look for WB/DC to announce an official firing of Amber Teard and re-shoots to begin with another actress. She is so toxic right now, and the petition is a few away from 4.5 million signatures to WB. They have to respond.

Watching the cross-examination of Amber Heard from Depp's lawyer. Amber contradicts herself constantly. The female lawyer doing the questioning looks like someone who worked hard in school. I wonder if Heard reminds her of all the mean girls she went to school with who got by on their looks instead of studying.
One highlight was when the lawyer found a clip from a (German?) talk show where Amber said she donated all her proceeds to organizations. And then got Heard to admit that wasn't true. She'd "pledged" the money but kept it for herself.

You know i don't usually boycott things especially over "morals" because i find it can make you a hypocrite but Heard straight up irritates me, everything about her just annoys me so unless they fire her what they very much should regardless of the verdict i'm sure as hell not watching this. Depp loses a libel case in the UK so they sack him so she should be sacked as well then, its not like its just Depp's word as we have seen a mountain of evidence, seen Heard trip herself up and lie, had people tear down her lies and well so much more so why the F is she still in this film?

I think the problem with this film is that it has already been shot. And replacing Amber from such a CGI heavy movie might require too extensive of a reshoot.
And supposedly James Wan is against removing Amber.
But from what I'm hearing, WB execs never wanted Amber in Aquaman 2. And her role was minimized for the movie.
So she just might be removed before the next film.

Yeah I feel like this is a case of the movie being in too much production that they can't just remove her. Its like in the case of Ezra Miller where the Flash movie is already well under way before his multiple arrest reports came out.
At this point they can only release the movie and not have Heard in the next one.

James Wan is on her side. From what I understand, Jason came out in support of her, too.
I'd like to see her replaced but I know that won't happen.

Gotta admit, Waldar Hamada's testimony had me laughing hard, for no other reason than it completely butchered AH's narrative. Well, it wasn't like it was hard to "destroy" because her supposed "expert witness" (Hollywood/movie insider/expert) was clueless & out of her depth. Even JD's own lawyer seemed to know more about movies. I am not kidding (and I don't care if it sounds arrogant), if they put me on that cross-examination, I would've absolutely destroyed her. She knew nothing about the business & it was almost painful to see, lol.

Weird thing is, I've been following this case for years. Basically since 2016. I didn't buy any of her BS then & I still don't now (obviously). But things like those audio tapes hadn't come out yet. We had a few bits here & there & to me it was obvious that she was just riding the grift but the whole ordeal hadn't exploded yet. So yeah, her actions annoyed me when Aquaman came out but she didn't disgust me. So like you, I didn't want her "fired" necesarilly b/c I just don't like cancel culture. But then everything just started coming out. first the audio tapes, then more stories (amber turd) & finally the UK trial. After JD lost for ludicrous reasons & he lost the role in FB3, I made an exception. After everything she put him through, she not only deserves to be fired & cancelled (forever), she needs to be put in jail, period. I know there's a statute of limitations on DV claims so she will never face consequences for the horrendous abuse she put him through (the finger incident alone could've jailed her for YEARS), but she can still face consequences for perjury. She has done nothing but lie under oath & there's ZERO doubt about that. I really do hope that TMZ ppl will leak emails confirming she personally allerted them. That would be a huuuuuge blow. It's also a shame she never had to give over all of her texts, b/c remember, the ONLY reason why her team used all of JD's own texts (which weren't even sent to her anyway) to begin with is b/c they were "accidentally" leaked by his own team during the UK case. Meaning, if that hadn't happened, her team would have NOTHING.
Those "burn her & rape her corpse" texts? Yeah, her lawyers wouldn't have access to that. Same thing with the "pus$y is mine" stuff (which JD denies having sent, which may have some basis b/c it said the text was "incoming" not "outgoing" like the others). Just imagine how painfully weak their case would have been (well, it was already weak AF, it just would've been a billion times weaker) without those texts. ALL she would've had were a few pics of him sleeping & that's it. It's honestly deranged when you think about it.

Me too, but TMZ's lifeblood is the trust of celebrities/publicists who leak to them. If TMZ is suddenly viewed as untrustworthy then all those scoops would evaporate.

Makes you wonder what the verdict will be, i have my doubts but hopefully he wins and hopefully at the very least her career is dead after. She's twisted and evil, Depp isn't perfect sure but its like what Helena Bonham Carter said why would he do this if he had nothing and was the guilty person? If he wins though his lawyer will be big in demand, she's done an amazing job.

I wouldn't have given 2 shits about whatever she did, but the fact that they cancelled Johnny Deep over what this bitch said irks me, to say the least.

Wasn't overrated at all tbh. The reviews were decent at best. It was hugely succesful, yes but that's a different thing.

Liar. Makes no sense to make a Black Manta movie. It was never a Black Manta film. James Wan's Trench movie was a waste of time. Black Manta had all the story he needed in the first Aquaman film. He needs to learn to make the best Aquaman films possible and stop wasting time with frivolous material and spinoffs that have no business being spinoffs. Stop making excuses for the Ls you've taken and claiming they were something else and realize you can't waste time with weak ideas for films and content that doesn't matter.

You don't have to be inside his mind to know what he has already reported on and how easy it is to say something else in an attempt for people to change perception of your choices. Don't be so gullible to believe everything on site when statements have already been made.

I tend to believe what the director says then some commenter on the internet who knows f**k all. We have known for months now it was a Black Manta film and in hindsight it makes a lot off sense.

It's not the first time people have commented on Black Manta being a solo flick with ppl questioning what's the point of it. We got all we need of his story right there in Aquaman. And they can add other details in the sequel if they want. Why do we need a full-on movie about it? That's a waste of money and I know you know that because of how much you follow DC and what's happening around here over the years. Whether you admit it or not is a different story. But that is a waste of time and money for DC to make and it's no wonder it never happened.
