The Batman box office projections targeting $135M-$185M opening

The box office tracking projections are in for the opening weekend of The Batman, and things are looking promising.

BoxOfficePro has released its projections for the opening weekend of The Batman in the U.S. Right now it's placing the film between $135 million to $185 million. The biggest limiting factor will be the 2 hour and 55-minute runtime as it will limit the number of showings on a screen at a given time. This would normally be a bigger issue, but due to a general lack of new releases at the moment, the runtime will be balanced by the number of available screens.

Right now, BoxOfficePro is placing the cumulative domestic box office result at somewhere between $340 million to $540 million. As we draw closer to the release the results will become clearer, and then typical factors such as the CinemaScore and word of mouth will become the deciding factors of the ultimate result. But for now, things are looking good.

Two years of stalking the streets as the Batman (Pattinson), striking fear into the hearts of criminals, has led Bruce Wayne deep into the shadows of Gotham City. With only a few trusted allies -Alfred Pennyworth (Serkis), Lt. James Gordon (Wright)-amongst the city's corrupt network of officials and high-profile figures, the lone vigilante has established himself as the sole embodiment of vengeance amongst his fellow citizens. When a killer targets Gotham's elite with a series of sadistic machinations, a trail of cryptic clues sends the World's Greatest Detective on an investigation into the underworld, where he encounters such characters as Selina Kyle/aka Catwoman (Kravitz), Oswald Cobblepot/aka the Penguin (Farrell), Carmine Falcone (Turturro), and Edward Nashton/aka the Riddler (Dano). As the evidence begins to lead closer to home and the scale of the perpetrator's plans becomes clear, Batman must forge new relationships, unmask the culprit, and bring justice to the abuse of power and corruption that has long plagued Gotham City.

Joining Robert Pattinson in The Batman will be Paul Dano (The Riddler), Zoe Kravitz (Catwoman), Colin Farrell (The Penguin), John Turturro (Carmine Falcone), Jeffrey Wright (James Gordon), Andy Serkis (Alfred Pennyworth), and more. Matt Reeves serves as both writer and director.

The Batman is scheduled to hit theaters on March 4, 2022, and will arrive on HBO Max on April 19, 2022. Theatrical tickets go on sale on Feb. 10.

That's a pretty strong projection.
If the critical reception is great, and word of mouth is ideal, and hopefully with a China release, it could easily cross over to the Billion dollar club.

The 3 hr runtime is not ideal, but that didn't stop Endgame or Titanic or Return of the King.

That film won't happen regardless of how this does. I think the cult fails to understand that Affleck himself doesn't want to be involved with DC anymore. Us not getting it has nothing to do with this movie or WB.

As a lifelong fan of Batman since the 70s, and as someone who actually works in the film industry, I find the comments on this site utterly ridiculous and uninformed when it comes to Zack Snyder. One of my producing partners is Brad Martin, a 25 year veteran who has worked with Zack. Brad worked on BvS. He also doubled George Clooney when he played Batman. And I know firsthand from one of Zack’s partners what kind of artist he is. That’s why he is successful and you are not.
You idiots talk about someone you have never met and don’t know and who you judge based off of your own limited perspective from what you think is going on in the industry. And you know nothing about it at all. And if you don’t think people from the film world are monitoring this site, you’re even dumber than I thought. They have people who are constantly looking at the dung you fling about like the circus monkeys you are. They laugh at you for the most part. But the people they really listen to are fans who actually create a movement that convinces executives at studios to give someone like Zack $70 million to finish a failed movie. So, while you’re making idiot remarks about a “cult”, real fans who put action to their words make the impossible happen.
I am rooting for all Batman movies to succeed, even when their stars try to play off their unwillingness to get into shape as a joke because they were called out on it. If someone pays you millions of dollars to play one of the greatest fictional characters in comic lore, then you need to live up to the demands like Bale and Affleck did. Stunt performers have no respect for that sort of laziness.

  Being in the film industry nowadays is nothing to brag about. The quality/production of films/shows being churned out of Hollywood every year for nearly a decade has been lacking originality, innovation, and heart. For the most part, all Hollywood is making nowadays are sequels and remakes. Nothing new, nothing fresh, just the same old stale, leftovers. Hollywood needs a reset and restart. It happened in the 70s, when filmmakers from the golden age of Hollywood were retiring from the industry and when new, upcoming, and talented filmmakers like Lucas, Spielberg, and Coppola entered the film business, where they made films that felt imaginative, personal, and revolutionary. We desperately need this to happen again. New filmmakers making new films. As much as I love franchises like Star Wars, I’ve come to realize, I don’t want another Star Wars film, I want the next great space opera.

  Zack Snyder is a joke. His “work” is laughable. He doesn’t even have the most basic understanding of what these characters are about. He was fired by Warner Brothers for gross incompetence. (As told by Joss Whedon) BvS should have been the biggest movie of all time, instead it was critically panned and derided by fans and general audiences alike.

    I wouldn't take Whedon as a credible source so what he says about Snyder holds no weight. Snyder stepped down because his daughter died and he couldn't take all the pressure WB were giving him at the time he was trying to deal with that, Snyder himself as well as cast and crew have confirmed this.

Well, look... Spidey NWH was $81.5 million in 3 days (opening weekend). And we know the engine behind that. Between the anticipation & hype for this, the regulars, the Pattinson fans and the Batcore people that have to make a judgment call on this flick... $135-185 sounds a bit much to me. But I feel it'll do just as good as NWH, if not better and maybe get to $90 million opening weekend.

Maybe by the 5-day total, it reaches those $135-185 numbers. But when I realistically compare opening weekend Spidey NWH numbers, it feels like that's aiming high.

Looking forward to reviewing the film with the community here.

NWH did $260 million opening weekend. It then did $84.5 million in it’s second weekend. The Batman should get to $150 million easily.
