Shazam: Fury of the Gods set photos show off new costume (UPDATED)

The first Shazam: Fury of the Gods set photos have arrived, and it appears that Shazam has a new suit to show off.

Production is underway on Shazam: Fury of the Gods and that means set photos. As with the first film, we're getting some good looks at the main costume, and there have been some significant changes.

Most notably, the lightning bolt has changed. The first film's suit had a lot of electronics issues so a change isn't a surprise. What is interesting, however, is that it looks as though it's much flatter and makes us wonder if the lighting effect will be all CGI this time.

There are a lot of other small tweaks such as the gauntlets, the cape connectors, the belt, and so on. Overall it also has a lot less of a padded look to it.

As early set photos go, these are pretty good, but we're still anxious to see some official photos, and we're really curious about the cape this time around.

Shazam! Fury of the Gods release is set for June 2, 2023.

Suit looks great! Shazam is still the best film in the DCEU, and while the first suit was fine, this does look better. Wish there was more white and he had the big fold over chest thing though.
No doubt the whiners who had problems with the first suit (which was fine and exactly like what a kid would imagine up) will have problems with this suit as well, mainly for not being grimdark enough.

    I am a little different.
    1. ZSJL (Masterpiece, really blends are elements very well together, one of the best superhero movie climaxes of all time, great scenes for all characters. Would say it is better than almost all MCU Movies to be honest, top 10 Superhero Movie. It's no Spider-Man 2 or Dark Knight, but it's not too far off.)
    2. MOS (Really enjoy this one, Cavil is good, Crowe is super great, Shannon steals the show, plot makes sense, visuals are amazing as usual.)
    3. BvS (Extended is the only way to really see Zach's vision, only thing I might change is Doomsday, if not for that would be higher)
    4. AQM (Popcorn Movie of DC, amazing visuals, great fun)
    5. Shazam (Another fun, light-hearted DC movie. Problem is weak villain, but Levi steals the show)
    6. WW (Good, entertaining movie with some amazing parts like No man's Land, but people seem to think of it as better than it is. Climax with Ares is pretty bad I think. Gadot and Pine are perfect in their roles)
    7. WW84 (Here is a drop off. Not great, don't like that they made fun of Regan, bit too chessy, parts of plot makes no sense)
    8. BOP (Actual bad starts here. Would not watch again, is pretty annoying. Only good part is Ewan McGregor)
    9. SS (Oh the pain. Could have been so good but is so, so bad. Worst of all DC villains in here, Leto is painful here but redeemed a bit in ZSJL. Really bad)
    10. Josstice League (Abomination. Never should have been made. Two styles conflict and make the worst superhero movie ever. Even some of the other bad ones, like Batman and Robin and Superman IV can be fun in a campy way. No fun here, and CGI looks dated by over a decade. Terrible.)

Nice! That’s already SIGNIFICANTLY better. The original was objectively and universally recognized terrible, cheap-looking costume design, impossible to defend even by the logic of it being “from a kid’s imagination,” despite the noble efforts of Mark Strong and some fans, since the movie itself proves the kids do not choose their own costumes at all but are just stuck with what they get. We’ll see how it compares to what looks to be the outright glorious Black Adam suit, though.

Really glad ninjette hasn't shown up with his nonsense about the suit being the worst ever, especially after defending the gloomy unoriginal MoS suit as realistic for so long.
I have a feeling we won't be seeing him around anymore, now with the JLUE drama over I guess he finally has no reason to be here, not being a Batman fan and all.

Definitely an improvement. I didn’t hate the first costume at all and I think it fit with the tone/vibe they were going for which I loved personally, but I get why people wouldn’t care for it. Really looking forward to this.

        Site is anti-snyder to a point, more that the only person posting articles is. When the site gets more writers there will be a diversity of opinions. And they don't get their headlines from wegotthiscovered at all, maybe one or two stories were reported on there as well though. Nice thing is there are no ads and the site is not slow, and it reports breaking news far quicker than this site does.

Major improvement, a lot of which looks like he's just had a chance to get in much better shape so the suit fits a lot better. That lightning bolt tho...ugh it's really bad from those photos. We'll see it in action, plus they could spruce it up in post with some CGI that makes it look great, but I'm not digging it in those pics. Also, I like how sleek his gauntlets look, he just looks way more like a superhero here (which might make sense, since he's not brand new to the Shazam game anymore like in the first movie)...however in that one pic they look like Iron-Man's shin-guards...just saying. Oh and the belt looks a little Green Ranger-esque (not necessarily a bad thing)...but overall it's a vast improvement and we'll know more when we see it ini action...WHICH might be this suit's best feature...it looks like he'll be able to move a lot better in action scenes now that there's a lot less padding, that's a HUGE plus.

    Yeah he did make it himself. And its a complete sh*tshow!
    It's messy as hell and just a chore to work through.
    And the writing is unprofessional as hell. The bias is clear as day. And he mentions Snyder in literally every other post.
    I am willing to bet my life that he always writes his posts while asphyxiating himself and jerking off to the thought of Snyder's name. 🤣🤣🤣
    And the best part is that it's empty as hell. Most of the comment sections are empty.
    And the rest few only have him and one other guy congratulating themselves on bieng the only guys there. 🤣

A Henry Cavill Superman cameo would be welcomed for either film (or both) as well :)

There's a feeling of adventure-whipped 'epic hero' about his face and demeanor here that I really love and considered missing from the first film. You can almost feel the impending fury of the gods from the title.
He honestly looks incredible here, the more I look at the photos. A true mirror to Superman, and the visual feeling I've imagined the character should have since I was a daydreaming kid.
And that's all Zachary and his facial acting/body language. The costume change is nice, but deeply secondary to how impressed I am with him here.
The suit is better in some ways for me, and not as good in other ways. It's pretty solid regardless; like an 8.5 or 9. I'm happy. He looks less over-stuffed, which is great. Excited to see it in the final film with the cape and all. Hopefully he's majestic and badass. :)

    Marvel always gave atleast an implied reason for suit changes, and sometimes an outright explanation (Spider-Man, for one example). In the DCEU everyone mostly kept their originals except for Aquaman. Keaton and Reeves never changed their suits either. I can't really think of any examples where there was a suit change without any kind of subtle or overt explanation.

      Batman and Batman Returns is in no way the same suit,In Superman 3 the colour of the suit changed,Toby Maguire suit changed movie to movie in subtile ways,Captain America & Thor literally has a new suit every movie without explanation.

It's kind of amazing to me how they are mishandling the character in the comics given how well the movie was received.
Johns run was decent enough but took forever to come out, and now Billy is stuck as a supporting character for other supporting characters in the Teen Titans book where it looks like in the future he's going to turn evil.
