HBO Max With Ads launches for $9.99 a month

HBO Max is finally delivering on its long-promised ad-supported version, but there will be caveats.

HBO Max With Ads, as it will be known, will cost $9.99 a month or $99 for an annual subscription. The company is promising only four minutes of ads per viewing hour, making it the lowest amount of ad time amongst all ad-supported services.

The new tier is not without its drawbacks, however. The service will be restricted from accessing some content such as the day-and-date movie releases that Warner Bros. is doing throughout 2021. There will also be no access to 4K streams and picture resolution will be capped at 1080p.

Even without the latest releases, there is still a lot of content available for DC fans including both films and television series. But with The Suicide Squad due on Aug. 6, you may want to think twice about going up to the ad-free tier for a bit.

On top of not owning anything or having a say in what comes and goes, they expect us to put up with ads as well ? This is exactly why I'll always support physical media over these services.

Technically, you don't really own the physical media either. You can't rip the movie and post it on youtube or charge people money to see your blue-ray.

But where did they put the ads? In the homepage? Before the movie/episode? In the middle? Because if it's like YouTube, bad choice.

Do you have Primevideo as well? Cause here I only pay €3 a month for it (and I share it with 2 other people, so technically I'm only paying €1 a month) but I have zero adds. I didn't even know there was a version "with" adds. How much are you paying?

Why are people acting like they’re adding ads across the service? If you don’t have ads before, you won’t have them now, unless you sign up for the ad-supported version. Just chill guys.
