Dwayne Johnson teases the Black Adam costume and shows off the set

Production is moving along on the set of the long-gestating Black Adam movie, and it appears Dwayne Johnson can't wait to start sharing some secrets from the set with everyone.

Johnson has been attached to play Black Adam for years, and after many stalled starts, the film is finally in production. Ever since production began, one of the most anticipated reveals has been what the costume will look like. Johnson finally shared the tiniest of teases of what we can expect from the costume.

While this image is the very definition of a tease, you still get some idea that this isn't a pristine costume. From the ragged nature of the bottom hem, it looks as though Black Adam has seen some rough times. Considering his origin story, this seems very fitting.

As well as teasing the costume, Johnson shared a behind-the-scenes photo from the set of the film. It looks as though there will be quite a bit of destruction, but we wouldn't expect any less.

Black Adam is more than a year away from release, but with the excitement Johnson has shown for this project over the years, we're sure he's going to be sharing more with the public in the not too distant future.

The Black Adam release date is set for July 29, 2022.

      It's easily the best of the DCEU films from a filmmaking perspective. I was a fan of the suit, I don't really care that Levi didn't have the muscles or not. It had the same silly basketball texture that Man of Steel and Amazing Spider-man 2 had, but it looked like what the subconscious mind of a kid who got powers would create, so in that sense it's perfect. Certainly more realistic in universe than an alien body suit that looks alien just for the sake of looking alien to humans...

      Jingo's theory to explain the stupidity of Shazam's costume in the movie is a fair one, and even was used by Mark Strong himself to try to defend the costume department's choices, and heck I would even be more forgiving of how genuinely poor the design is if the movie actually made the case for that explanation. However, it in reality contradicts it completely. After one of the foster kids comments on how dumb it looks, Billy defends it by saying "What if he didn't get to pick his costume," meaning it is definitely not springing from his own desires or anything, since he seems to agree it is dumb and confirms that he did not think it up. Not to mention the fact that each kid has a similar costume once they all get powers, as if it was a uniform, rather than unique costumes that all reflect their individual personalities and preferences and styles (beyond male/female that is). Also the Wizard's symbol is - by some incredible lapse in logic - the same plastic-y LED lightning bolt symbol, too, even though he's some cool, mysterious, ancient wizard lol

      What you 'feel' doesn't come into it. I'm not talking about the best in terms of enjoyment but from a filmmaking perspective. To that end, Shazam is the best without a doubt. If you have an argument as to why AM is better from a filmmaking perspective, I'd be curious to see it.
      Not sure why our teenage friend Ninjette felt the need to reply to me through you, but I should point out once again he seems confused. The idea that the suit is Billy's idea of what looks cool works fine regardless of if he was fronting in front of other kids, and it still makes way more sense than an alien suit that doesn't look alien so much as the team from Amazing Spider-man 2 decided to design a Superman costume.

His star power and passion for the project are almost guaranteed to put butts on seats. However i really dont want a DC film universe where BA is not only the biggest draw but also calling the shots. The JL should be the big draws and more importantly the Trinity should be the big guns. In my humble opinion.

It currently has 6/10 from ‎65,218 reviews on IMDB and 3.0/5 from 7212 ratings on Google.

After the critical reception, I expected a much better movie. It's definitely not awful, but some of the writing and directing (and photography... dear lord) are genuinely bad. Not surprising that Zack did all three.
I did like the action, the premise, tone and characters/actors... but a lot of the execution fails. It's supposed to be a heist movie. Did it feel like that, though? Felt more like a "survive the zombie horde" movie, with the heist element being a very tiny subplot. What a shame. Seems like they got to the safe in ten minutes, and cracked it like it was nothing. And then (SPOILERS!!!!!!!) they ultimately don't manage to get any money out of it and it was all for nothing and everyone dies? What a trash ending and utilization of that plot. Then, just when I think the black guy who was locked up actually survived and at least SOMEONE got the money? Nope, he's also infected and it's all for nothing. Wtf? Guess Zack couldn't come up with any other way to set up a sequel after nuking all the zombies out of existence.
The "smart" and "hierarchical" zombie stuff was interesting... just wished it was explored more and got to see more of the OG Zombie story b/c the "alien" implication is really dumb and doesn't cut it. If he's truly "alien", why does he look like a man?
Also, the entire "daughter" subplot, and her going along (only to ALSO end up failing miserably with the mother she tried to save also dying, making it all for nothing) was so contrived and annoying. Like, Jesus f*ck, she's nothing but a goddamn arrogant little "volunteer", and now she thinks she gets to play with the "big boys" and actually go into a Zombie horde? So contrived and stupid. I hated her character.
I really think the movie would've been received a lot better had it not been for the stupidly nihilistic ending and resolution. Everybody dies, no one gets the money and the mission was all for nothing. Oh and also, the last man standing is infected. Great.
Overall, I'd give it a 5 or 6 out of 10. Thought it was okay for the most part, but I have no interest in ever seeing it again.

    I'm British though and some of my favourite films are 3 hours+. This film is overlong, for such a basic plot it never needed this length and because of that feels slow at times with some bad pacing issues. Its a 100 minute film stretched to 150 minutes because Snyder thinks Quantity = Quality.

    That's not really true, it's something that shifts generationally, and it depends on how much someone is in to film also. People that just go to the movies for popcorn stuff are a different audience than those that go to film festivals. Old movies used to be far more common in the US, look at Ben Hur, Gone With The Wind, etc

Jeremy Irons doesn't like BvS and he's on record saying that, i bet Irons and Scoresese have the same type of view on movies so yeah.

      Without a doubt Scorsese would include Zack's films in what he called questionably cinema, and not just his superhero films, all of them, Zack's films have been described as a series of moments one after the other without any real connective tissue. I'd love to see Scorsese and others criticism his films to his face, making the same criticisms we all do, and see how he reacts. People like Zack who are super nice on the outside but then act in the passive aggressive way he does tend to snap.

I know this film will be at least entertaining, however i am sour that we have a DC universe that Aquaman and now Black Adam most likely are going to be bigger movies than Batman or Superman. Thats not a knock on AM or BA, just i wish WB had given us at least one great solo Batman movie and one more(better received)Superman film by now, as part of the DCEU.

Despite some of the doomcrying and fearmongering (not from you) you see about DC having a mainline universe without Superman or Batman in it, I don't think DC has any plans not to have a full cinematic universe in some form. Snyder's relationship with WB seems to have dissolved without any chance to revive it, and I truly believe they will announce some big fresh reboot sooner rather than later. FanDome and October are only a few months away.

  If its going in the direction it seems to be then i am not all that excited. Why make the next Superman black? Give us a solid onscreen representation of the original Clark Kent and use the countless other great DC characters are "already" written as a POC to give representation to minorities. They don't need to gender swap or race swap "any" of their characters. Give us comic accurate versions and this franchise will thrive guaranteed.

    I think we will get both, and I think that is perfectly fine. I think we can have a black Superman and they can tell whatever tale they want to in that way, and they can have the mainstream versions as the main universe and focus. They can potentially even introduce the new black Superman and have him team up with the mainstream JL in a future story. That's how I would see it if I were being optimistic.
    If we are not getting a comic accurate mainstream version, then...yes, I am upset...but not more upset than I have been since TDK. Bale wasn't comic accurate, he still killed, he was barely a detective, his fighting style sucked, etc, then MoS and BvS came along and we know my opinions on those films comic accuracy. So, I've been upset for some time, especially since we've seen the DCU done so well in animation and with video games. So...I'm not more upset, I'm just as upset. Nothing changes for me if that's the case.

      If they are going all in on the multiverse scenario and having multiple versions of characters in movies snd shows but we still have a mainline comic accurate line, then I'll be ecstatic. If that is not the case though, I'll probably stop following dc movies as die hard as i do now. Which is a shame.

Unlikely i know but possible. 2) I am not that excited for a disconnected DC movies universe, I'd rather it was interconnected and the DCEU as it currently stands has no official Superman or Batman in the role.       ZSJL right now has an Imdb score of 8.2 with almost 300,000 votes.
      Now what is more probable.
      That a fanbase is so obsessive that they would go out of their way to post hundreds of thousands of fake reviews and votes just to prop up a film from their favorite director, even though they did not do the same for his immediate previous dc film.(BvS).
      And then that same fanbase immediately proceeds to lose it's obsession to the point that it completely ignores his very next film released just 2 months after ZSJL and lets it become his 2nd worst reviewed film ever. ( Which I might remind you, obsession does not worknthat way).
      Or that maybe just maybe, more people then just Snyder fans liked ZSJL very much, including the ones who did not like BvS and AotD.

      We have already seen Snyder cult lose steam after Snyder cut came out.For example, They tried to run the #restorethesnyderverse campaign after Zsjl came out and they were only able to hit around 500k tweets/day despite doing 1.5 million/day in past.

      That's the thing. They keep changing goal posts to claim Snyder films are bad.
      For MoS and BvS, the criteria was the critical reception. Despite the fact that MoS had positive audience reception and good box-office.
      But when when Snyder's next 2 films both have positive critical reception, suddenly the criteria shifts.
      Now for ZSJL it's the HBOMAX views( while completely ignoring performance outside of US) because it also has a great audience reception.
      And for AotD, its the audience reception.
      And the best part is that the very people that were so adamant that the audience scores for ZSJL are not an accurate representation of its general reception are now using the audience score for AotD from literally the same sites, to put it down.
      The hypocrisy of the Anti-Snyder Cult truly knows no bounds.
