My Adventures With Superman is a new animated series that is heading to HBO Max and Cartoon Network with a two-season order.

Jack Quaid (The Boys) will be voicing Clark Kent and Alice Lee (Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist) will serve as the new voice of Lois Lane.

The series will focus on Lois and Clark - and their best friend Jimmy Olsen - as they begin to discover how to work together as an investigative news team. The story will focus on Clark building up his secret identity, while Lois is mentoring Jimmy and becoming a star reporter. And it will also focus on the budding romance between the famous couple.

“Superman has remained one of the most iconic and beloved superheroes in the world,” said Amy Friedman, head of kids & family programming at Warner Bros. “This fresh take from the Warner Bros. Animation team delivers a modern, relatable Clark Kent alongside a fearless, whip-smart Lois Lane who are navigating the small tasks of both becoming adults and trying to save the world.”

“It’s been a great partnership working with Cartoon Network and HBO Max to bring more DC superheroes to the platform in new and creatively interesting ways” added Sam Register, president of Warner Bros. Animation and Cartoon Network Studios. “This is the first animated Superman series in many years and we want to tell our Superman story through the trio of Clark, Lois and Jimmy — whose relationship dynamic will allow for rich, serialized and engaging stories as we explore their lives as individuals and their journey together as friends.”

No word yet on when My Adventures of Superman will debut.

    Superman is DC's number one, but they treat him like he's their number two.

      He's their number 2 since 1989. Batman and Spider-Man are the most selling superheroes, though Superman is still the most recognizable.

        It is Cartoon Network show, so it makes sense it should target a younger audience.

        I was reading an article on the recent WarnerMedia Discovery deal and the writer made a point that had never occurred to me before about HBO Max's lackluster performance compared to other streaming services. He argued that, when people hear the name HBO (as in HBO Max), they associate it mostly with premium content aimed at an adult audience. There is nothing wrong with that per se, but it doesn't have the appeal of other competitors that are associated with "family-oriented" content like Disney+.

        Generally speaking, I think that is true. HBO Max, or whatever the new Warner/Discovery bundle will be called, needs to boost its content for kids or families with kids if it wants to stay competive. DC Films hasn't exactly built a great "family-friendly" reputation with many of its recent releases, which tend to be R-rated or plainly "dark" so to speak. Kids-oriented DC animation is a way to cater to different audiences other than late teen or young adult males.

          Yeah, calling it HBO max was confusing too with all other HBO go, now, etc... Should have called it WARNER+ or something like that.

          THe Batman show is geared to more old kids, adult. They should have done that with Superman too.

      I don't think so. The shading is on point. The amount of detail is hitting that sweet spot between "too busy" and "too lazy." Just need to see how fluid and consistent it is.

            Sure it has a place. Not particularly against the artform, but more against all the incels putting anime girls as their avatars...makes it seem kind of cringe.

            I mean Japanese animation has a long history of being superior to Western, frankly, so I find Jingo's pretension while clearly lacking any real experience with, knowledge of, or appreciation for it pretty stupid

            That’s an opinion and not a fact as is his take. In my opinion, I’ll take classic Walt Disney animation in films like Snow White, Pinocchio, and Bambi over any other type of animation. It’s superior to any Japanese animation. Walt Disney is and will always be the master of animation.

            PS. Actually, I shouldn't be saying this. Some of the Fantasia shorts were on a very high quality level. But you get my point. Don't diss the Japanese animation, it can be superb.

            Yes. I fully appreciate Disney's work in animation.
            But that does not mean one should put down japanese works to appreciate it.

            To this day I don't believe that Western animation has produced something as beautiful and as thought provoking as Akira and Gjost in the Shell.

            Dude I get it. I have a great love for Disney's original animations too.
            And I get that which animantion is betyer is up to personal preference.
            But to outright claim that Disney's work is better then anything that Japanese animation has created, is a disservice to the breathlessly beautiful and thematically rich and contemplative works of legends like Hayao Miyazaki(Princess Mononoke, Spirited Away),
            Satoshi Kon( Perfect Blue, Paprika), Mamoru Hosoda( Wolf Children, The Girl Who Leapt Through Time) and Isao Takahata( Grave of Fireflies, Tale of Princess Kaguya), and widely influential films that even had influence on western films like Ghost In The Shell, Akira, Paprika, Princess Mononoke, Perfect Blue and many more.

            Look at animated series from the West versus Japanese anime through the years. There is often a striking difference in the simplicity (or even stupidity) of Western cartoons over what Japan has consistently put out for decades now at a much higher caliber. It's no wonder anime is popular with more than just children, whereas in Western animation, cartoons that transcend generations are few and far between.

            This is not to say that Japan's work is ALWAYS better than Western things, or that this applies to ALL examples. I'm just saying throughout the years, Japan has had a fairly notable track record of many examples being a quality that often surpasses Western equivalents...

            And as Kerk points out, Studio Ghibli is a great example of Japanese animation that is very comparable to the Disney classics you mentioned, at least.

            And either way, Jingo's original comment was simply generalizing all anime as "horrible," which is just crazy talk, and that's all I criticized.

            ninja is just spouting nonsense as usual, desperate to try and appear informed. Animation itself doesn't have a long history and most of it's history is in the west, so to claim Japanese animation has a long history of being superior to western animation is utter ignorance. Truly, what an embarrass thing to utter.

      Don't be needlessly pedantic. I was obviously referring to the 'art style'. No one else had an issue understand what I said within the given context. An animation covers an art style as part of what defines it.

      I wasn't a fan of JLA either, I didn't waste my time on it after seeing a youtube clip. I dismissed it in the same way I did those Batman movies where in one he fights robotic animals.

You decided to be deliberately obtuse and interpreter something contrary to the way every other person did just so you could lecture.           My problem is with you bringing it up at all. Everyone understood the point I was making. If you really wanted to make the point that the two are different, you could have done so without trying to correct. And then you double down on the second comment, but if you admit that went too far OK. The way I see your posts being respectful is by adding flavor to your posts, but the core of your post, to me, still reads like you talk down to people even if you add flourishes to be respectful. I could go through and point out the issues I have but I don't see that would serve either of us. Saying that I misinterpreted or overreacted is, I think, part of what I'm talking about. I'm sorry if my saying Jesus offended you, but my intent was not to offend, but at the same time I'm not religious and I'm using the word as is very common in society, so I'm not going to change my behavior on that. I appreciate your message here but I think we clash and I don't want to feel anything negative when talking on this forum as much as possible, so I would repeat my last request and ask that you refrain from talking to me from now on.

    I assume that's Lois. I have a hard time picturing her dressing up like this and getting a short haircut. Does seem to deliver her character accurately tho.

    And Jimmy Olsen -- sure, no problem, make him black. At least, physically he looks like the classic Jimmy Olsen, unlike that insanely handsome hulking black "Jimmy Olsen" from Supergirl with perfect teeth, who towers over everyone else.

    I kinda/sorta like the pseudo-anime style, but this just doesn't sound like the right kind of series to do for Superman. We're already getting a Superman/Lois show in live action that focuses more on his alter ego life than his superhero life, so why do it again for animation?

    Also, in a world where all these OTHER non-DC/Marvel related shows are exploring superheroes in a more realistic context with great success (The Boys/Invincible) and with the upcoming animated Batman show seemingly aiming more towards that route, I'm starting to grow tired of the more bland and conventional ones that are just tossed out there to the masses about the actual iconic superheroes.
