Black Adam sets a July 29, 2022 release date

With just days left until Black Adam begins production, Dwayne Johnson has announced a new release date.

Johnson took to his Instagram on Sunday to tease a major announcement was coming. A few hours later we had a new Black Adam release date set of July 29, 2022.

The release date had been put in question as the film was pushed back due to the coronavirus pandemic. With the main cast now complete, and sets being built, it looks as though things are finally ready to go.

Johnson's Black Adam will be joined by Pierce Brosnan as Doctor Fate, Aldis Hodge as Hawkman, Noah Centineo as Atom Smasher, and Quintessa Swindell as Cyclone. Marwan Kenzari as the film's villain, and Sarah Shahi will be playing a university professor turned freedom fighter who is leading the resistance in Kahndaq.

The Black Adam release date is set for July 29, 2022.

      I remember kingkiller was initially insulting him and calling him toxic until most people became aware kingkiller himself is toxic. I think they only pretend to like him because they are so desperate to have people on their "side", there is only the 3 of them and they have to support each other lol.
      I'd be ok with his foolishness if he could at least be honest. JLUE had about 100k more viewers than FaWS and I made a casual observation that I still believed FaWS was more popular and that many people were waiting to binge watch all the episodes at once. I think that's a pretty reasonable thing to say even if you disagree, since plenty of people wait to binge stuff. He couldn't handle that and started making the claim that absolutely no people waited to binge watch it, which is just sad and desperate.

But looks like some more numbers are rolling in, and HBO Max topped the streaming charts with its biggest influx of downloads because of ZSJL (though that unfortunately doesn’t count all the people who downloaded HBO Max up to this point for ZSJL ahead of time too).       The only thing that would be keeping WB from fulfilling this request that I can possibly imagine is if they just believe in their current plan so much more (whatever the heck that plan is, if it even exists) that they are willing to forego the clear popularity of Snyder's in favor of it, but that would be more a creative choice than a purely business-minded one, unless they just magically know they could accrue just as much demand and hype for their plan as Snyder's has done.

      First off, the thing that is keeping WB from going forward with this is the thought of spending 600-700 million dollars on two more sequels, only to have them met with lukewarm reactions the way that the majority of Snyder's DC movies have done.
      Second, WB needs to move on from Snyder. You can vote this so-called "demand" all you want, but a very large number of us DC fans are ready for a change. I'd honestly wager that that number is equal to, if not greater than, the number of people who want the Snyderverse restored. If WB can get someone who actually knows and respects the characters they're adapting, then DC movies will see success, just like Aquaman and Shazam have. They do not need Zack Snyder for that.

      No, it has not been disproved, because HBO is not looking at analytics when it comes to ZSJL. They are looking at subscription numbers. That's where the money is coming from. ZSJL is not a show. It was a one-time thing that was intended to bring in new subscribers. Whether or not it did that is how HBO and AT&T determine whether it was successful or not.
      And it's hilarious that you're calling me deluded while you're desperately clinging to your social media numbers thinking they actually mean anything. They don't. I keep trying to tell you over and over that that is not the metric companies use. Only people on social media care about the numbers on social media.     The Rock as far as I know has been the star of nearly all his films, the only loss i can think of was as the Scorpion King at the end of the Mummy 2. However he still got a solo movie of the character after that and was the hero in it. I wish WB thought Supes was their star attraction.

      Going by comics then Steppenwolf wouldn't stand a chance against Doosmday, i know it was an avatar of Darkseid but Doomsday completely wrecked him during Hunter/Prey, granted it was a Doomsday post Death so extra strong but Doomsday defeating New God level beings is certainly possible with even Orion having his ass handed to him by Doomsday.

      I dont take too much issue with them killing beings like Steppenwolf or Darkseid, they are totally evil and beyond redemption and to spare them would only mean to face them again, so in the kind of grounded universe Snyder was going for, a fatal blow is perhaps the best solution.
      However i do take issue with JL members if they are portrayed to wantonly kill average human beings, its totally out of character and unnecessary.

      That's fair enough. I agree there is little excuse for WW killing the unarmed terrorist and terrorizing a bunch of kids lol. I sill think a line of dialogue could have added more to the scene...Superman could have killed but seemingly chose not to, and then Diana did anyway. I agree in Zack's universe SW dying is not such big deal, my bigger issue with killing villains is they can never recur..although again in Zack's planned 5 movie story I guess that doesn't matter either.

      I like arch nemesis surviving and having the chance to reappear and confront the hero again. It can lead to some incredible battles and encounters between each of them. It could be said leaving Steppenwolf alive may have been a bigger punishment as he had to face Darkseid with failure again so may have died anyway. I think Zack had WW behead him purely cause it looked cool, there was probably very little motivation behind it other than that. I certainly see you point and agree with it more or less.

      The idea of Steppenwolf returning as a major villain in this movie universe is silly to even consider; he was just a lackey. Darkseid is the real big bad. I remember the days when people were complaining that Steppenwolf was even being used at all.
      Some villains certainly deserve to live to see more adventures (Lex and Cheetah, for example). In this case Steppenwolf isn't one of them.

      I want villains to survive because they re an ongoing part of the DC Universe, and you can't have a big fun full universe without them. Imagine if Thor killed Loki in the first Avengers movie? There is also the issue that if people are fine with killing villains (and in the DCEU they execute them, it's not like in the MCU where they kill when being shot at) then why are some allowed to live and not others? I agree Zack just did it because he thought it looked cool, and that's my issue with a lot of his movies, the lack of thinking things through.

      Yes i agree to an extent, like gotham would be no fun if Batman killed all his rogues, or if WW beheaded Circe and Cheetah first chance she got. However there are some villains who i think can fall under the one and done banner. Choosing which villain and when is the tricky part and needs a long term well thought out universe, something the DCEU is sadly certainly not. That said, its a comic book universe people coming back from the dead or being retconned through some bait and switch is definitely not beyond the realm of possibility, if they so choose.

      There were always other ways they could have stopped him. We know missiles knock them out, we know they are vulnerable to gasses etc. With better writing they could have subdued him. Agree a lot would have been destroyed in another rematch, but I would have liked Zod to be a more intellectual villain going forward if he had continued.

      Maybe a de-powered Zod working with Luthor to take down Superman might have been an angle to go with. He would eventually get his powers back for the rematch though. Or could have used zod to fight Darkseid or Brainiac in a future film and had Zod imprisoned in the shrunken Kryptonian city in a bottle.

      Depends if Adam is more hero or more villain. Adam is a Superman level being with access to powerful magic, a Superman not holding back can certainly defeat Adam but it requires him to remove his imposed limits, Wonder Woman only really stands a chance if she can force Adam to say SHAZAM! with the Lasso.

      I mean, not assuming something that is not shown is hardly headcanon. And we have seen his interactions with the public...he does his best not to interact. We see him in the Day of the Dead scene, the senate scene and aftermath, and other similar scenes. The impression Snyder paints is of a being that explicitly does not take time to interact with a kid like in the example I gave. Of course it's possible, but I don't think it's consistent with what we have been shown. I'm not saying it would be contradictory, just that it's not something easily inferred.

  I think I remember him saying that years ago. He had a sit down with Henry Cavill at some point and posted a photo to Instagram, so he's had it in mind for a while. As to what it is alluding to? Who knows. The DCEU is such a mess because they make it up as they go along. If Black Adam has been present in the DCEU this entire time why has there been no mention of him to date? The more they show there was more to the universe than what we saw in previous movies the more it invalidates previous movies.

    Shazam did allude to him and the only thing i can think of is why he hasn't appeared yet would be he is imprisoned or in some magically induced slumber. Hopefully his film is set in the past and will clear up why he has not been seen yet. The DCEU has been very mishandled but i hope they are course correcting this going forward.

      It's definitely something that could be amazing if handled and examined properly, but I have no faith it will be. I think it makes him a ruthless dictator with good intentions, but you can't argue with results either. I'd like to see his 52 arc adapted myself, and even a lea up to the WW3 storyline could be very cool.

      The thing is, BvS and MoS didn't explore what I talked about at all. Throwing in a senate hearing as a setting for an explosion isn't exploring the issue in depth, far from it. Some of the fans of these movies don't seem to have a clue what actually constitutes depth.
      Agree another movie could flesh it out, but I doubt they would do that just as JLUE didn't really flesh anything out.

      The question is w-h-y does it matter to you if in my own head canon Green Lantern is part of the DCEU. It was supposed to be the first installment until it failed. There were even rumors that Superman was going to make a cameo in the film and like I said before, Mark Strong even said it was part of the DCEU. Green Lantern is a lone film that has no relevance to anything. Green Lanterns were in ZSJL and haven’t gotten their own film yet, so until they do, I have this film in the DCEU.

I'm still a little unsure about Dwayne Johnson as Black Adam. He is a very charismatic actor, but I don't think he has the acting chops to potray a character like Black Adam.

I'm still excited for the film. Sounds exciting. Lots of first time movie portrayals. I just want to know one thing. Is the film based in the 1940s to 1960s. Or in present day. Because it would be a real shame if don't get the original JSA from the 40s.

However, I still hope for the best. And hope Black Adam doesn't face the same problems or hurdles as The Batman.

It will be interesting to see when the movie is set and does it end with Adam in present day, looking for Billy? I'd really like to see them throw down and Supes get involved too but doubt it will happen, not with Cavill unfortunately. Looking forward to this movie a lot though.
