Zack Snyder's Justice League: Justice is Gray now streaming on HBO Max

Zack Snyder's Justice League isn't done quite yet as the long-promised black & white version, "Justice is Gray," has arrived.

Zack Snyder has long said that he feels the ultimate way to watch his version of Justice League is in black & white. When he left the production, he took a copy of the film with him on his laptop, and that was the color scheme he showed to people like Jason Momoa.

While we knew the plan was to eventually release the "Justice is Gray" version for fans to see, it was unclear when that would happen. On Wednesday night in the U.S., without much warning, it arrived on HBO Max.

For years, the #SnyderCut existed in black and white and shown only to a select few.

There has been no widespread discussion of how "Justice is Gray" will be shown in other countries.

Rumors have suggested that there were possibly some alternate scenes in this version of the film, but fan reports indicate this is incorrect. If you've already watched Zack Snyder's Justice League, this is the same film, just in black & white. Similar to the "Black & Chrome" edition of Mad Max: Fury Road, or the black & white version of Logan.

If you have HBO Max, you can start streaming "Justice is Gray" immediately.

Flash fact: the Snyder Cut is 3 hours and 52 minutes on HBO Go. They say it's because of encoding, but I assume it's Barry's fault.

Oh, and the Whedon Cut was added the same day as the Snyder Cut.

Not necessarily. It’s just a number (and one that I question the accuracy of, frankly). The only thing that actually matters is how much of that slow-mo is inappropriately utilized, and of that, I can think of maybe only about 2 moments tops...?
You have to remember how much super speed is used in this movie, and every single scene of that is stylized with slow motion.

  I agree, it depends on how the slow mo scenes are used.
  If they are bieng used to enhance an action scene or to emphasize an emotional scene then its not bad Slomo.
  Almost 7 min and 55s of the Slow mo scenes in the movie is Barry using his powers.
  The rest of it is mostly during action scenes ( WW action scene, Amazonian battle, Gold Age battle, Superman battle) to emphasize the action, or dramatic scenes( Cyborg Flashback) to emphasize the emotional moment.
  The only unnecessary slow mo I found in the movie was the Lois coffee scene and Aquaman ramp walk.
  The rest of it was well integrated and had a reason.

      Most of the time it served a purpose.

I don't mind slow mo when its used sparingly and effectively. I found some of it was ok in the Snyder Cut but most of it cut have been reduced or cut completely if i'm honest. Also I found both of Quicksilver's slow mo scenes in the X-men films to be done infinitely better than anything we have seen of the Flash thus far in the DCEU. I really like the Flash as a character but don't think he has really been showcased to his best in the franchise so far. Still much preferred him in ZSJL than in the TC of the film.

  The Quicksilver scenes were cool, but Barry’s scenes were AT LEAST as cool, while being different. Did you guys seriously just want Snyder to copy what had been done before? The whole challenge with displaying super speed is doing it in a new original way, and Snyder accomplished that. The saving Iris scene was incredible and showed us new things, the sword touch scene is iconic, and the saving the world scene at the end was mind-blowing - surpassing Quicksilver if you ask me.

    To each his own. For me the saving Iris scene was really terrible looking, it just looked soooo fake and the music was a poor choice. I get the conception of it, saving her in a blink from a fatal car wreck is cool but i just think it could of been better realised and the effects were a big part of that unfortunately.
    Also no i didnt want Snyder to just copy the Quicksilver scenes, i said use them as a blueprint, as they were so well done and then take that premise and do it better in a unique way to the Flash. I actually felt the Flashes best scenes were the ones were he moved fast and it wasnt in slow mo. IE saving the people from the falling debris etc. I have high hopes for his solo movie and hope they retcon his lightning to yellow as well to be honest.

      For me the whole scene just looked off...the effects and the characters didnt seem apart of the same area if that makes sense? It was a shame, as it could have been a really cool sequence if structured a bit better and the effects were more polished.

      I get what you are saying, it was too obviously greenscreened? Right? I actually don't mind that at all, I'm able to forgive that given that there was a budget constraint and he had to prioritize on what to spend the money on. I just thought the scene was plain bad, the music was horrendous, him weirdly worshiping some random girl that made the mistake of half smiling at him...it was all cringe IMO. It started off OK...him bursting out of his shoes was good, the finger point to break the glass was stupid and unnecessary (just go out the door?) and the song was utterly horrendous. The hot dog joke didn't land either IMO.

Yes your right it did look to greenscreened for me but not just that, like the car crash in the background looked like one part, iris in the air looked like another and barry looked seperate as well, as if it was all filmed separately and then stitched together or something. The music was a wtf moment for me as was music in the part were Aquaman walks down the pier with the whiskey bottle and casually pollutes the sea with the empty.

      The soundtrack overall was very hit and miss for me. I wanted to love it i really did but i cant really recall much of it making any real impression on me, where as the MoS and to an extent BvS soundtracks had a lot of really good memorable tracks on them in my opinion.

      I'm not into music that much, but I do believe the music in a movie should compliment the scene, and MoS and BvS mostly did that. I'm not a fan of a lot of Zimmer's work and would have preferred someone else honestly, but it wasn't ever big deal for me. In JLUE though, the music straight up took me out of the movie in several scenes and wasn't complimentary at all.

      Not sure on what basis you could say that. The rippling glass, exploding shoes, and rippling concrete were all incredibly creative and original displays of cool visual effects used to effectively show off super speed that we’ve never seen before and is actually somewhat scientifically accurate.
      To not even think the end with him saving the world by running back through time is noteworthy seems like some pretty crazy level of predisposed negativity to me. Quicksilver’s scenes are cool. That was incredible. Again, just doing the same thing Fox already did with Quicksilver (or using it as a blueprint, whatever that means) isn’t creative. In fact even that already started to feel a bit been there done that the second time they did it in the next movie he appeared in.
      I hope the solo Flash movie continues to explore more new, innovative, cool ways to show off that superpower that are just as good - but still different - from what we saw from both Quicksilver and ZSJL.
      I like that they address the reality of static electricity with the blue, to be honest, but I understand why fans would want the iconic yellow that is part of the character’s whole deal. The concept art shows an interesting color that looks to me like a sort of blend, if I remember right, so I think that could be a really cool way to go

      I did say him entering the speedforce was cool but i there is room for improvement when he inevitably does it in his solo movie.
      When i say use Quicksilver's scenes as a blueprint, it quite simply means I'd hoped Snyder and Co had looked at the Quicksilver scenes, thought they were a good template on how to showcase super speed and then used them as inspiration on how to best showcase the Flashes powers. The Iris rescue scene did not do that for me at all, the cgi was very sketchy, the song choice was completely at odds with the scene and it all just didnt mesh together very well in my opinion.
      I like the Flash character and i enjoyed him for the majority of his scenes in ZSJL but there is definitely room for improvement in his character and powers portrayal. He still doesnt seem like Barry yet to me, more a mash up of Flash characters.
      The Blue lightning effects are ok but i dont understand why not going with his more iconic yellow?

      Yeah they definitely seem to be taking a few notes from various Flashes. I liked him better here than in Josstice, though. More competent and real feeling. I think since he’s still young and everything, though, that it might be a little different from what some people expect of Barry Allen no matter what. Not to mention his appearance. Still, though, as its own thing, I appreciate him
      I think they wanted to go for realism, explaining the static electricity that would be generated or whatever and the fact that in our universe electricity is blue lol. You could also potentially argue it’s because of how fast he is - there’s different colors depending on the speed.

      The worst part for me is that he continues to refuse to grow or improve. Everyone should be wanting to learn, grow and improve in every endeavor they do, whether it be directing, baking, jogging or even just everyday stuff like time management. When someone refuses to do so I think it is a good indicator of their personality.

      Yes I'm looking forward to TSS trailer for sure. Technically the first reboot and iteration of the new DCEU. Seems strange we have to wait more than a year for the next film, but at least it will be The Flash and the full reboot can commence. As for the story, who knows what may happen, it may end up being continued at some point lol.

There were some(like slow-mo football) that I didn't think were needed, but I love the action ones in comic book movies. They're like splash pages from the comics to slow down and show the reader/viewer the detail in the action scenes.
Otherwise you end up with transformer movies where you can't tell what bucket of bolts is punching the other or even how lol

    First off, you Snyder defenders are far, far worse. There's nothing you won't resort to to convince yourselves and everyone else that the Snyder Cut was the greatest thing ever, even though at it's best, it was merely good, not great.
    Second, people do care about Black Adam, considering it's set to introduce the JSA for the first time ever. Just because you don't care doesn't mean that no one does.
    And finally, DC has a wealth of characters at their disposal that they can make movies with. Yes, Batman and Superman will always be popular, but that doesn't mean DC can't make successful movies with their other characters. Marvel made a ton of money with Guardians of the Galaxy, despite the fact that a lot of people didn't even know who they were. So your argument there has to be among the weakest that I've ever heard.

    DC Films are making movies about A-list characters: The Batman (2022), The Flash (2022), Aquaman 2 (2022), Wonder Woman 3 and The Suicide Squad (2021). Then you have Shazam 2 and Black Adam (yeah, today the Cap Marvel is more of a B-list, but his movie was very good), and a Superman film in the works.
    The Green Lantern Corps. is coming as a TV show for HBO Max, but I'm sure you don't have a problem with that because Snyder decided that a GL wasn't good enough for his film and used Cyborg instead.
    What's another A-list DC character that should merit a film or TV show? I think most of the JL is covered. The JSA is coming with Black Adam (with the potential of spinning-off to their own film or show), Zatanna is having her movie, as the New Gods. Cyborg is a C-list at best and should be in a Teen Titans project. I don't know, Green Arrow and Black Canary? Maybe. Martian Manhunter could be an option, but not if Snyder's behind of it.
    My point being, for DC is mostly just B-listers from this point onwards, being on film or TV. So stop whining.

  WW84 is the most god awful movie I've ever seen. Even if more people watched it(which I highly doubt because word of its shittiness spread quick), the general consensus is ZSJL is good, and nobody , I mean nobody on the planet that wasn't involved with making WW84, thinks WW84 was remotely good. Like it or not, the masses want to see Snyders vision through. WB doesn't have a clue how to use DC characters anymore. They're back to the same old generic "let's sell some toys" mindset as opposed to the "let's please fans and make good movies" mindset.       Yeah, like they forgot that BvS had a worldwide opening of $422.5 million, having an historic drop in its second Friday of 81%, and it ended its run with just double of its first weekend, making it the worst legs ever.
      And yes, they can argue that the extended cut is better because is more coherent plot-wise, which it's true, but the EC fix none of the problems general audiences had with the film and its characters.
      The first cinematic encounter between Batman and Superman (and Wonder Woman) didn't even make $1 billion because of Snyder's vision. That's the plain truth. General audiences stop believing in his DC universe in 2016, and that doomed Justice League in 2017 (also, yes, that film is garbage in its own merit), and if that movie made any money at all was thanks to the goodwill for Wonder Woman.

I don't think anything can change their mind now.
I don't really care for conspiracy theories, but just from their actions its clear that they are already against the ZSJL.
Just look at it. The Monday right after the weekend ZSJL was released, article was published about how ZSJL would lead to nothing, and Snyder fans, the main target audience for the film was called toxic in it.
And then in the same week, instead of letting ZSJL have its moment and wird of mouth get out, it was completely over shadowed with news of new Zatana film, Shazam casting and Pierce Brosnan casting.
No matter how I look at it, it looks a little suspicious.

    They are announced at the opportune time to have the biggest impact.
    These announcements could have easily waited till the weekend so that ZSJL could have an entire week of word of mouth to itself.
    But itself, immediately after the weekend it was released, all throughout the week that either reduce the hype for ZSJL or overshadowed it.
    And if you don't find that the least bit suspicious, then your just as blinded by your dislike of Snyder as you claim the Snyder fans to be out of devotion.

      DC fans that could have been discussing ZSJL thus generating more interest in it, were now instead talking about other films.
      And keep in mind, all of these announcements came off the back of the Anna Sarnoff interview, released literally the Monday after the weekend ZSJL was released, claiming ZSJL will lead to nothing.
      And I don't have a problem with the announcement itself. But that is not something the fans of the film want to hear.
      That interview and these casting announcements could have easily waited till the weekend.
      Allowing fans to have a whole week, to talk about ZSJL amongst themselves, discuss its pros and cons, discuss its hype moments, and generate interest in the film.

      To me, I feel like it creates excitement for the DCEU in general. After watching JL 9 times, and MOS and BvSUE the two nights before its release, I just want more and cant wait to see what’s in store for us next.
      As for the Sarnoff interview, I get how it can disappoint some fans, but she didn’t say anything different from what Snyder and Hamada have been telling us the past year. I think we should just enjoy the fact we finally got Zack’s true version, and take joy in the possibilities for future projects not involving him. Plenty of other creative teams can put together great films and series for us diehard fans, as well as GA.

    I totally agree with that assessment. The only thing I’ll say on its behalf is that it’s on a streaming service with less than half the subscribers, at a price point that is double the costs, and instead of releasing one of the 6 episodes each week, it was a 4 hour entire season dropped all at once(so they wouldn’t have to pay actors for 6 episodes).
    Even if you classify it as a film, it’s still a director cut of a film released to poor results by a director that only a small following believe to be a great director. So losing to WW84 dropped on Xmas, which followed a beloved first film, which is only half as long(so one viewing of Snyder cut equals two viewings of WW84) and basically getting the same views as episode one of a great franchise with over 100 million subscribers on their platform which costs half of HBOMAX does seem like a small victory imo. Not enough for Snyder to continue as leader of said franchise, but enough to maybe continue with the universe.

    Yeah, I don't get how people can't consider this a big win for ZSJL.
    ZSJL is a 4 hr long film, that many people think they already saw in 2017.
    Most people already know the basic plot of the film.
    It's also coming off of the very negative reception of WW84 and JL theatrical cut. Which does not inspire a lot of confidence in people.
    Also, it is on a much smaller streaming service.
    And still managed to beat FaWS.
    A tv show which is one of the only 2 offerings during the pandemic from arguably the biggest movie franchise of all time.
    Coming off of the monumental success of WV.
    On a streaming service much bigger then HBOMax.
    And had the biggest premiere for Disney+ which had already broken viewership records with The Mandalorian and WV.
    I honestly never expected ZSJL to break records.
    But what this performance does do, is that it proves wrong everyone who was claiming before the release of ZSJL, that no one wanted it except the Snyder fans, that it was going to fail etc.
    Because clearly more people wanted it then FaWS.

      Opening weekend is never about the quality of the film but the hype.
      And admittedly ZSJL did not have the hype behind it that WW84.
      WW84 was a sequel to the very well received WW. It was a new movie. It was coming at a time when audiences hadn't had a new film in quite some time.
      And it had great reviews at the time of release.
      Any flaws that it had were only revealed after people saw it over the weekend.
      ZSJL is a new version of a film that was already released in 2017 and was widely hated.
      A lot of people didn't even know the difference btw ZSJL and TC.
      And it is a sequel to a film that was very divisive.
      The fact that ZSJL had numbers comparable to WW84 is already a big win.
      Especially when you consider that WW84 was the most viewed streaming film of 2020.
      And it has way more positive audience reception.
      I'm willing to bet anything that its numbers over the entire week or even month will be better then WW84 once the actual nielson numbers come out.

      Also, this show ties directly into Avengers Endgame. The concept for this show was literally teased in the last scene of Endgame.

      Even the villain has been taken from Civil War.
      When you add in the fact that FaWS is on a streaming service with twice the number of subscribers and is coming immediately after the incredible success of WV, it truly is impressive that ZSJL managed to outperform it.

Am I alone in wishing we could get a mashup of the Whedon Cut and ZSJL. Not a total melding of films but there are scenes in the Whedon Cut I would like to see in ZSJL and there are also some things I cut trim from ZSJL.

Example...add the conversation between Alfred and Bruce discussing how the world needs Superman and the team needs Clark.
Cut....The scene revealing Martha to be MM, it completely took away from what was a touching conversation between two women in mourning and made very little sense to have it as a MM reveal.

Absolutely. I personally didn't care for how Cyborg's "origin story" dominated the Snyder cut. It was way more than a mere introduction, and other characters, more important characters, suffered because of it. To be honest, Snyder did for Cyborg what he should've done for Superman and Batman. He made him relatable in a non-polarizing way. It was really well done.
Whedon does characters better though (along with pretty much everything else). Sadly, we got but a glimpse of what could've been if he were to helm the DCEU.

    My point exactly. The Cyborg story was done well, but it would've been more appropriate in a solo movie. Because Batman, Superman, and Aquaman were all pretty forgettable. It's called "The Justice League", not "Cyborg and friends". It was a peculiar decision, focusing on a C-lister in a JL movie when Superman and Batman had such bad reception.

      Have you read the comic this is based on? Cyborg’s origin was reinvented for the first time for this specific story. And even taking source material out, this is the most natural course of action. He is the most organically connected to the threat the League faces that puts them together in this first place, he is the character least fitted for a solo film, he is the least widely known character to the the general audience. His completely gutted story in the theatrical version didn’t work for a reason. This was always completely expected, and is the only way to really do it.

For the ppl that care, this is the first version of the shorter cut of JL I edited. And for the people who are going to throw a massive tantrum how this "reeks of arrogance" and is "incredibly disrespectful", you are more than welcome to ignore this post if it offends your poor souls so much.

My goal was to reach 3h15 at most, but right now it's 3h25. I can think of a couple more scenes I could remove or shorten and I could probably get it down another 10 minutes if I wanted (and likely more if I had the raw footage so that I don't have to stress about music or sound effects not lining up) but again, it's just a first version. You could remove half of Cyborg's story (the game and crash scene) and it wouldn't really affect the overall movie (and that's 5 minutes of footage alone) but I liked Cyborg's story so much I didn't wanna compromise it.
Also, the watermark is just b/c it's a first render and I'm using free software. I'll fix it for the final version. There are still a couple of glitches here and there that needs sorting out.

    So, I suggest a few options.
    1, Use handbrake and encode with HEVC to get that filesize significantly down, 2, upload in parts, maybe per chapter (depending how big final file size is), 3, consider vimeo instead of youtube, they are les quick to copyright strike, 4, consider mega.nz instead of google drive, you can also preview from mega without downloading (I'm pretty sure at least)., 5 grab the pirated version to remove the wawtermark.

      In 30 minutes, the drive should be done but I'll look into those other options... especially for the file size because I'm planning to do a 4k version that I'll then crop to 16:9 and the 4k versions I saw online were about 30 gigs. Not too bad, but the 1080p version I used now was originally 4.5 gigs and the filmora edit file was 9, lool. So I can only imagine the 4k version is gonna be 60 gigs if not more.

      Filmora is really bad at optimizing file sizes, only bad thing bout it IMO. HEVC is still fairly new codec and mainly used by the piracy scene (and GoPro I think), but it's amazing. I've seen hour long episodes at 1080p at under 300mb and the quality was perfect. It takes more CPU to decode but hardly an issue these days, even my 10 year old Dell laptop can play that stuff fine.

      Yea, it's awful. I originally read "900 MBs" and thought "I hope the quality won't suffer" and then I saw 9000, haha. I don't get how it's possible to import a 4 gig file, cut it down and then export a 9 gig file.

      Yeah it's ridiculous. what container/codec did you use? you can also make sure the bitrate is the same as the source because it might have set it higher by default...but even then you might get to 6 or 7 instead of 9, still not 4. Re-encoding with HEVC I think is the best option. If you want I can give you a magnet link for the non watermark version.

      I have no clue dude. I'm new to this whole editing/compressing scene so I don't know what a container/codec is. All I did was click on "export" and let it render the final video.
      I don't know the OG bit-rate. I assume it was probably 8 bit, maybe it was "upscaled" to 10 bit, but that wouldn't explain the 2 times increase in file size, I don't think.

      Okay, so I checked, the OG file is 264 but it didn't mention the bit rate in the codec info. But I'm gonna leave it be for now.
      I am downloading a 4K version atm, which (according to the file name) is 10 bit and 265 (it's around 30 gigs). If I'm done with the 4k edit, I'm going to apply your tricks to hopefully make the final file size bearable.

      It's the only reason I'm using the 4k file anyway, just to fix the AR. I checked yesterday if it would work with the 1080p file, but I played it on my TV and filled out the screen to match 16:9 and you could really tell the resolution was being sacrificed. Wasn't horrible but it immediately reminded me "yeah, this is a fan edit, not the real thing". So it's not that I care about the 4k resolution itself, I just need a higher quality image to fix the AR, that's it.

This stuff came out over a year ago. Still didn't do a thing to help his case. Even the fact that they have now proved Amber Heard never donated the money (8 million or something she got from Depp) as she originally claimed, which the Judge explicitly used as proof that Heard could not possibly be a gold-digger, does not seem to interest the courts.
I don't like playing the victim, but this case here is yet another reminder of how hostile the courts are towards men. If a comically rich, uber privileged high profile celebrity is unable to win a DV case, then basically no man can. Ffs, the Judge literally dismissed all of these tapes b/c Amber didn't say those things "under oath" therefore they can't be trusted.
I've known a couple of guys myself who were in physically abusive relationships or had been falsely accused of (sexual) abuse and lost their jobs as a result despite zero evidence (and I know they were innocent b/c I worked at the same place and read the complaint letter which reeked of factual inaccuracies in terms of dates, context, etc) and out of all those guys who came forward and sought legal help, they were all either dismissed, ignored, or blamed. Now I've just been told by my mother that my uncle (her brother) has been physically (and emotionally) abused for quite some time. He's a retired soldier and a divorce (which is what he wants) is financially almost impossible. I haven't spoken to him in months but there's no way I'd ever advice him to seek out legal help. It's a colossal waste of money, time and emotional health and he'll probably only get f*cked over even more.
Don't get me wrong, from what I understand, he's not getting beaten to a pulp ("slaps and kicks" is what I was told) but any amount of physical violence is UNACCEPTABLE and IDGAF that "he's stronger, he can take it"... You don't hurt your partner. The end. No "but he...".
I understand why Depp wanted justice and came out, but honestly, I knew it was a mistake from the get go. Literally no amount of evidence was going to change anything, and his evidence was f*cking overwhelming.

I agree that men re dismissed in many DV cases and that it's wrong, there are quite a few contexts where men are not given fair representation (custody battles is another).     The worst part imo is that the "12 counts of abuse" supposedly committed by Depp against Heard, found the be "substantially true" were not supported by a single speck of hard evidence. It was almost entirely based on Heard's testimony (despite the fact that she's been caught LYING under oath several times) and the fact that Depp has a history of substance abuse (which he doesn't deny). You can read the OG Judge's report, it's around 100 pages, but it's all in there and his reasoning is absolutely laughable.
    Don't get me wrong, if you ask me, I would have bet that Depp MAY have retaliated or hit her, just b/c the level of violence Heard committed against him was truly obscene and would set off just about anyone (regardless of gender) and while that may not be "legally" justifiable, there's absolutely no question that Heard was the one who instigated the violence and SHE was the aggressor and manipulator. She admits to throwing pots, pans, and other hard objects at him in these tapes, and she practically also admitted (not in the exact words, but it's clear she did it) that she cut off his finger. And then there's also that whole poop incident... Even if Depp did something, Heard is still clearly 99% responsible.

      Slow Mo scenes followed immediately by high speed action.
      There can never be overuse of a style as long as its done right.
      Its like criticizing Tarantino films for "overuse" of violence and blood.

Probably a lot.
I think Snyder is one of the few directors who truly knows how to put Slow Mo to good use.
It's his trademark style. It's like criticizing Nolan for making his films unnecessarily non-linear or criticizing Quentin Tarantino for making his films unnecessarily violent.

Damn, the comments in here are crazy. Y’all are straight up attacking each other in here with some pretty foul personal insults. If anyone wanted to do research on toxic fan culture I guess all they have to do is look at the Batman News comment section. I didn’t see one comment talking about the black and white cut, just a bunch of mud slinging. Yikes. I’m not trying to start anything, I’m just making a observation. It’s pretty violent in here.

I was mixed on both MoS and BvS but I did enjoy the ZS cut of JL quite a bit. I tried watching the black and white cut this afternoon but like the Mad Max and Logan b/w cuts I thought it didn’t really work and I shut it off. I’m not quite sure why these black and white cuts keep being a thing.

This is incredibly tame compared to what it's been in the past. Unfortunately there are a few hardcore snyder fans that infested this site who couldn't care less about DC characters but just want to start fights with anyone that dislikes Snyder. They should be gone in a month or two.

So after rewatching Aquaman and seeing how different the film was compared to ZSJL (The difference in Aquaman as a character and the contradicting stories between the two films), I’ve decided to view the DCEU in a whole new and different way. I’m going to view each character as having their own series instead of a connected universe. The only series I’m going see as a connected universe from now on is the Snyderverse with only the films Zack Snyder has directed. We can pretty much agree on how messy and muddled the DCEU as become and so I wanted to clean it up a bit and make it easier to understand and enjoy.

So here is the new way I’m viewing each series when I watch them from now on:

Snyderverse:

Man of Steel
Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice
Zack Snyder’s Justice League

DCEU:

Green Lantern (I consider it part of the DCEU)

Suicide Squad
Birds of Prey
The Suicide Squad

Wonder Woman
Wonder Woman 1984
Wonder Woman III

Aquaman
Aquaman II

Shazam
Shazam! Fury of the Gods
Black Adam

The Flash

Just to spark conversation, i would say...
WW and WW84 could easily slot into the Snyderverse with a stretct, the contradiction with Aquaman and his solo films is agreeably harder to get around but i would still lump Aquaman in the Snyderverse as Mera "does" mention Steppenwolf's defeat.
SS has an appearance of Afflecks Batman and references Supermans death so I'd lump that in the Snyderverse.
Shazam also has multiple easter eggs from the films that preceded it and is also part of the same universe so once again it can be viewed as part of the Snyderverse.
Are there plot holes and inconsistencies throughout the franchise as a whole?? Absolutely and some films are connected loosely at best but there is definitely enough in them to show it "is" all one universe, albeit a poorly planned connected universe.
I hope the Flash resets and retcons a lot of this and we have a more cohesive DCEU by the end of that movie.

Not to say things didn’t feel janky when I just rewatched AM after ZSJL, too, but I mean *story* wise, ZSJL doesn’t contradict AM at all besides Mera having no parents, right? (Which can be headcanoned as her father in AM being adoptive)
