on HBO Max promotes day-and-date movie releases with new teaser

Wonder Woman 1984 was just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to Warner Bros. plans for films on HBO Max throughout 2021.

In early December of last year, as we were awaiting the debut of Wonder Woman 1984, Warner Bros. made a pretty shocking announcement about its plans for 2021. With the coronavirus pandemic still in full-swing, and movie theaters still not back to full capacity, the studio planned to release all of its films for 2021 on HBO Max the same day they would arrive in theaters.

No one had tried anything like this before, and it sent shockwaves throughout the movie industry.

With 2021 in full-swing now, and the first of these films set to debut on Jan. 29 - The Little Things starring Denzel Washington, Rami Malek, and Jared Leto - HBO Max has released a new teaser for all of the films it will be showing including some very brief glimpses of The Suicide Squad.

It should be noted that this footage is only for the films being released theatrically and on HBO Max simultaneously and this is why there is no mention or footage of projects such as Zack Snyder's Justice League or the upcoming Peacemaker series.

As a reminder, all of these films will play on HBO Max for 31 days following their premiere. After that they will leave the service and be exclusive to theaters for a further 31 days. Following that second month of release is when you will be able to purchase the films for your collections.

It looks as though there will be more than enough for us to consume at home in 2021 thanks to this new deal.

Seems like my uTorrent is going to be busy this year. They could always release the streaming internationally, though.

Good question. All trolls. Wouldn’t be surprised if they’re in some kinda social club or are a bunch of alts, but mostly it’s Jingo (my murderous stalker currently going by “Zack Snyder fans are toxic,” previously “the GOD AMONG you,” “Zack Snyder’s film degree,” and various spins on my username), and his cronies who follow along vary.

Besides, I think it's funny that anyone even cares. Who cares about downvotes, honestly? I care when it signals people disagree or agree with something, but not because of a vote count or anything stupid like that.

To be honest outside of the cinema released films like The Matrix 4 and Dune i think the Snyder Cut might be my most "hyped" original release from HBO Max. Don't get me wrong i expect bad things but i'm really interested and curious to see how different it all is and how much of Snyder's original grand plan makes it in, plus being the Flash fanboy i am i'm kinda excited to see some actual visually good Flash action even if i don't like Miller in the role.

        1. #Un-ReleaseTheSnyderCut Avatar
          #Un-ReleaseTheSnyderCut

Oh, I'm curious as well, but I could never use the word hyped. I was hyped for BvS and I'm still hurting from that disappointment. We have Matrix, Dune, The Suicide Squad, Godzilla vs Kong etc.

Plus, I don't think e will ever get his original vision. This is a 4 hour cut with new footage...it is definitely not what he would have released initially, his plans have changed. And hopefully that's a good thing, there's a chance he adjusted and learned from some of his mistakes.

But yeah, I hope it's good. We will find out in 2 months. Pretty bizarre it happened.

          1. Hunter Zolomon Avatar
            Hunter Zolomonreplying to #Un-ReleaseTheSnyderCut

Yeah i'm not hyped i just couldn't think of a right word. I don't expect his entire grand plan but it appears we're getting more then what the film would have been in cinema's if him leaving and Whedon taking over didn't happen. What i'm most interested in is how will it end? From my understanding the film was meant to end on a big cliffhanger of Darkseid killing Steppenwolf and announcing he's going to invade Earth himself. Are we still getting that? Or has Snyder managed to give the film an actual ending with everything more or less tied up? Personally being the petty f*ck i am i would love a IW style cliffhanger for a film what's never coming just to p*ss off the cultists.

          2. Seb Avatar
            Sebreplying to Hunter Zolomon

Yeah the ending's got me... worried (that would imply I care, which I don't, I just don't know what word to use) that it will build to something we'll never see. We know Snyder's made a lot of changes, even compared to what it would've been originally (had Whedon not taken over). So I hope he also changed that cliffhanger ending & will give his fans a true ending with a sense of closure, but I have a feeling he won't do that.

Kind of has me thinking, IF the movie ends up being a giant success (and I doubt it will be, not critically but financially, most of all b/c HBO Max just isn't bringing in anywhere near enough cash), and Snyder keeps his cliffhanger ending, it would be kinda cool if they made HBO Max exclusive JL sequels but animated. Just have whatever story Snyder had in mind for the JL trilogy & make an animated series or movies... whatever. Would be cool for the Snyder fanboys to see the "full" vision completed & I definitely wouldn't be anywhere near as critical if the movies were just made for HBO Max in animated form, which I reckon would drastically cut the costs as well.

Just look at shows like Castlevania on Netflix. I don't love that show by any means, but the animation is truly gorgeous. S3 had ten 25-30 minute episodes, so around 250-300 minutes in total, or somewhere between 4 & 5 hours of content, which is how long this Snyder Cut is going to be. Point being, whatever they're spending for Castlevania, they could probably spend that money on JL (animated) sequels with a similar level of animation quality, which I'm not gonna lie, even though under Snyder's vision I would probably still think they're bad, the idea is pretty cool & it would be easier to write off as an else-world story that isn't really gonna affect the cinematic DCEU.

Truth is, we're never gonna get a JL movie again, at least not in the next decade(s). So I'd rather have some wacky animated nonsense than nothing at all.

I know, it's never gonna happen, it's just something that crossed my mind.

          3. NinjaGamer13 Avatar
            NinjaGamer13replying to Seb

Snyder or no Snyder, we better get more JL movies or this entire shared universe is pointless. Ann Sarnoff’s recent comments give me hope. Maybe JJ Abrams is gonna swoop in and revive the Superman and JL franchises.

          4. Seb Avatar
            Sebreplying to NinjaGamer13

Why would they ever make more JL movies? Simply b/c the "fans" want it? Guess what, the "fans" didn't show up the first time, resulting in WB losing over 100 million. So why the hell would they ever waste their time making another one, knowing there's no interest? You could argue the first one sucked, making less ppl want to see it... but now the brand has established itself as trash, so moving forward (even if the sequel was great), ppl are likely not going to want to see it.
And frankly, the last thing we need right now is a hack like JJ Abrams helming another beloved franchise.

          5. #Un-ReleaseTheSnyderCut Avatar
            #Un-ReleaseTheSnyderCutreplying to Seb

There is still huge interest in a well done JL film. I don't know that they will be able to reboot the DCEU enough to make it possible, but look at how incredibly popular the Timm animated series is/was. Plenty of fans would love to see a live action version of that, with all the characters, teamwork, Watchtower, non stuttering Lex, etc.

Unfortunately, I think it's pretty unlikely we will get that.

No one decided that. It's just that people in charge are absolute monkeys that didn't think that in order to make a streaming service you need to get rid of your licenses with international channels and companies ahead of the release like Disney did.

Warner Media are bunch of morons who can't think ahead more than a year and a half so we'll probably have to wait till 2022 or longer to get it overseas.

That's really not worth the work though. Because they'd have to tailor make every single library based on the region people are in because of local licensing. Again, why would they launch HBO Max if everything on it would already be on HBO? You can already get HBO. It's really not worth the work and cost for them to actually go around and localize each library when they can be lazy and just wait.

Lol, I was joking dude. I know it's not a one guy decision but I'm just saying, whoever or however it was decided that HBO Max remain exclusive to the US, it was a massive mistake. I agree though, they're idiots & should've looked what Disney did.

Other news i see Ray Fisher is at again, he's got audio "evidence" what he's shared what as many have noted has been edited and doesn't really reveal anything other then Fisher spoke to the investigators. He's also insisting WB removed him from The Flash despite him being the first one to say he won't work for any WB film if Hamada is involved, he's also implying racism from Johns what's rather interesting when you think the only reason he got to play Cyborg in a JL film is because Johns promoted Cyborg to a JL member during his JL run, considering how non stereotype Johns is with non white characters and how he pushes and creates non white characters i can't see Johns being a racist.

Lol, seen the clip. Doesn't mean shit. It's just the private investigator (who if I understood it correctly, Fisher insisted on having to be approved by him beforehand, which kind of suggests bias on his part) doing her job by looking at all the data he presented. Sure she "praises" him for being a man of his word, that doesn't mean his word is truthful, it just means he did what he said he was gonna do. The "best" thing she said was at the end saying the "facts speak for themselves", but that could mean so many things. End of the day, THIS highly meaningless & hollow tape is what Fisher chose to share, meaning it's probably the best thing he's got... and if THIS is the best he's got, then he's got f*ck all. Man, the guy is such a pathetic little b*tch. Genuinely can't stand him which is such a shame b/c I honestly think he's a decent enough actor & could've been fine as Cyborg.

It proves WB has been throwing shade at Ray that was false, which is super fishy

            Sebreplying to NinjaGamer13

How? B/c they claimed he didn't cooperate? That was back in September, the tape dates from December. And WB's first claim against Fisher was true b/c Fisher himself said he didn't want to partake if he didn't have a say in who the third party investigator was. WB did not "throw shade" and besides, Ray has been doing nothing but that for months at this point.

What the audio reveals is that he didn't refuse to cooperate with the investigation, so WB lied.

          #Un-ReleaseTheSnyderCut

It doesn't prove that at all. One small clip of him cooperating with one investigator isn't proof he cooperated with the entire investigation.

You have no ability to think critically at all, do you?

No he's not and Snyder has nothing to gain from this, Hamada played a key part in getting the Snyder Cut made so why would Snyder go after him?

The fact the lead character is a nobody who isn't in the games and the lack of one Mr Cage has killed a lot of my interest. I expect the original 90's movie will still be the top MK related film.

      1. #Un-ReleaseTheSnyderCut Avatar

The character of Cole Turner matches the character of Johnny Cage quite a bit. I wouldn't be surprised if they are the same. Maybe it's an unnecessary origin story and Johnny Cage ends up being a stage name.

        1. Hunter Zolomon Avatar
          Hunter Zolomon

I've seen that theory and yeah i can believe it but why do that? Why not just ditch the Cole Turner name and have him be Cage from the start? This just reminds of films what have this "totally new" character yet we all know this character is actually an established character, think Khan in Into Darkness. Personally though i think Johnny is better in a supporting role rather then main and i feel its largely why MKX has the weakest story of the trilogy, i would rather they made this film a light adaption of MK9 or a film based on the Scorpion and Sub Zero rivalry.

            #Un-ReleaseTheSnyderCutreplying to Hunter Zolomon

I don't know why they would do that, and yeah Khan is a good analogy. I think there are maybe examples where that strategy has worked, but I can't think of any right now. Still, I'm not that attached to MK lore. If it sucks I can easily forget it, and if it's good it will be a pleasant surprise.

I'm not a mega fan of the lore but i like it enough and its characters that i want to see something respectful especially as MK has kinda been non stop for me since MK11 launched what has made me more attached then i would be. I'm hoping the film is good though, i think the cast is solid for what it is and i'm happy its not going to hold back on the gore.
