Wonder Woman 1984 virtual premiere announced for Dec 15

The release of Wonder Woman 1984 is drawing closer by the day, and that means its time to consider a premiere event for the film.

Warner Bros. has announced that it will be holding a virtual premiere for Wonder Woman 1984 on Tuesday, Dec. 15, at 12pm PST.

Gal Gadot and Patty Jenkins issued a joint statement saying, “We have the best fans in the world and that’s why we’re so excited to celebrate the launch of ‘Wonder Woman 1984’ in such a big way. Having it be a virtual event allows us to share the moment with Wonder Woman superfans everywhere who might not otherwise have the chance to experience a movie premiere.”

Jenkins, Gadot, Chris Pine, Kristen Wiig, and Pedro Pascal will all be joining in the event. There will also be behind the scenes features and more to keep you entertained while Tiffany Smith hosts and the stars answer questions from fans.

Wonder Woman 1984 will release in theaters and on HBO Max in the U.S. on Dec. 25. Select international locations will see the film released on Dec. 16.

Judging by Villeneuve's angry piece on Variety (literally breaking up with WB and killing off any chance of a Dune cinematic franchise), I wonder if WB will even exist one year from now. That is what happens when you disrespect and alienate your creative partners just to prop up a failing streaming service.
The saddest part is that Denis said in his OP-ED that "Dune is by far the best movie he has ever made". Now we probably won't see more than his first Dune movie when WB could have had a new Star Wars-level franchise for years to come.
Unless DC is sold to some other media company, I am afraid it will suffer the same fate. Patty Jenkins has already signed up with LucasFilm and I doubt James Gunn and other key WB directors will want to work again with a studio that has just double-crossed all of them without warning.
I am sad too because I truly believe we needed a media company to offset the Disney monopoly and Warner was the most likely candidate to do so.

  Yeah, Villeneuve basically said WB killed the Dune franchise. I think he's right.
  It turns out Emmerich was the one to propose this to AT&T. Damn, I knew Emmerich should have been gone with the last batch.

      I'll do you one even better. I'm not subscribed to hbo max. It can do better. I expected all of crunchyroll to be on there. Not a select few titles. I assume they will phase their content into hbo max throughout the years though. Just like what they're doing to dc universe.

  I've no doubt Dune is gonna be a great movie, but that movie likely would never have been all that successful. I wouldn't even have been surprised if it lost money (assuming COVID never happened). Seems like another Blade Runner 2049 case.

      well ya I get that this isn't what a filmmaker would want but we are living in unprecedented times. There is a freaking pandemic. I really don't think the world is suddenly just gonna "go back to normal" as Villenueve says. We can't say for sure how long it will take for enough people to get vaccinated that the majority of the population feels safe again. Honestly I think the biggest problem here is that WB didn't tell anyone.

  They way you describe it, things sound potentially dire for WB. It's disappointing to learn that, as of now, a Dune sequel from Dennis is unlikely, as it along with Batman are my most anticipated movies. Can't fault the directors though, because when these movies bomb it just reflects badly on them. I still don't understand this decision, they have a bunch of these big movies in the can, so why not just save them?

WB is in A LOT of trouble. If HBOMax becomes a failure ,simply because they are late to the table with so many streaming options it would cost a family a fortune to have them all., then DC will also end. Its unfathomable to believe but WB is now an astounding 170 BILLION in debt. AT&T doesnt care for warner media and film. This could be bad. If HBOMax does not get enough subs in next few months WB could be finished.

Nah, max gained 4mil subs since September. ATT is the one with the 150bil debt but their cash flow is 20bil. Debt is not the end of the world. Look at USA’s debt, trillions and rising.
It’s true, att is only in it for their stock and they’ll hurt wb’s reputation But The business might be ok. Time will tell. Everybody loves a winner. Look at Disney. They’re soulless as any corporation but they win even with mediocre content.

  Yeah, but you know what is a big cause for concern? The fact that AT&T's stock hasn't gone up in 10 years. That's a signal of poor management and makes it very unattractive. And yes, if HBO MAX does not turn itself around in a couple years, I can see AT&T breaking it apart and selling it.

    Att stock went up a little last week when they found a buyer for directtv. Max is no where as bad as directtv. I think it’s a keeper.

  How many of those 4 millions are paying subs?....Or they part of the group who were given free HBO max and has activated it....If the debt is not the issue then why are they selling assets to raise money?....First they tried to sell WB interactive which failed.Now, They sold Crunchyroll.
  HBO max launch has been disappointing.Denis Villeneuve called HBO max launch a failure and Nolan called it the worst streaming service.Their decision of simultaneous release seems out of desperation.If they can't make HBO max successful when people are stuck at home then they never will.

    Selling assets to reduce debt and keep keep their stock stable. There’s a debt to gains ratio that investors took at.
    Nolan and villeneuve are creatives. Their attacks are from that POV. Business wise, it might turn out fine.

HBOMAX is not in trouble. Nor Warner media. This is all Time-Warner fault when they bought the AOL franchise and the internet bubble burst saddling it with a ton of debt and so now AT&T wants to recoup from purchase and they are setting the movie theatre industry on fire to do it. This was 20 years in the making, they (AT&T) trying to knock down all that debt.
