Patty Jenkins confirms Wonder Woman 1984 post-credits scene

December 9, 2020

Just in case you wondered if you should sit through the credits of Wonder Woman 1984, you definitely should.

Director Patty Jenkins appeared on CinemaBlend’s ReelBlend podcast this week to discuss the upcoming release of the film. The hosts asked Jenkins if there was a post-credits scene although screeners have not included one. She replied with "Yes," but only shared more info after a small delay.

"Let that be something to save for the audience," Jenkins said. "Just because, God forbid, somebody writes about it, you’re like, ‘Well, then what fun was it? Now we should have just attached it to the end of the movie!"

Jenkins has been adamant about supporting the theatrical release of Wonder Woman 1984, but she assured everyone the extras will be on HBO Max, saying, "Both. It will be on streaming as well." She admitted it would have been a way to get people into theaters, but said, "I know. That would be smart. But we can’t do that with COVID right now. Too many people can’t (see it safely)."

No hints were given to what the scene may be, or if there may be more than one. We'll just have to wait and see for ourselves.

Wonder Woman 1984 will release in theaters and on HBO Max in the U.S. on Dec. 25. Select international locations will see the film released on Dec. 16.

  Oh? What did she say?
EDIT: Oh my gosh! Yes! She just laid down everything I could've asked for lol. I'm shocked she can speak so freely like that without repercussion

Whedon isn't in a position of anything. AT&T gave him the boot. And Geoff Johns wouldn't probably say anything as they probably worked together on WW84, Johns being credited as a writer and executive producer.

Not only that but she picked Geoff Johns for Wonder Woman Amazons Spinoff.
"This is a story that Geoff Johns and I came up with and then introduced to [Warner Bros.]," Jenkins stated. "The events of this story take place after Diana leaves Themyscira, the Island of the Amazons, and there are some twists and turns linked to what will happen between Wonder Woman 1984 and Wonder Woman 3. The production of the project has not yet officially started, but I hope we get it because I love this story."

Looks like WW 3 is throwing away story idea of her and Johns. Patty is thinking up of a new story.

The cut directed by Zack Snyder. Very interesting indeed.

Did you read her quote? She like literally everyone else (but you I guess) differentiates the theatrical version from the Snyder Cut, since they're so vastly different in characterizations, plot, look, etc. I mean, no one could seriously call a "Zack Snyder" movie which was already significantly compromised by executive mandates and on-set rewrites before then having 3/4 hours of it chucked out and replaced with at least about an hour's worth of rewrites (or 80 pages) which were all also reshot both by Joss Whedon of all directors, and then the final remaining hour of Snyder's also being re-edited and -color-graded by Whedon, a truly "Zack Snyder" movie in anything other than name.

The DGA states that the theatrical cut is a Zack Snyder directed film. That is a fact. Not my opinion. So this "everyone else" crap doesn't stand up to scrutiny. The whole official director's guild disagrees with you. It's why you only see "directed by Zack Snyder" in the credits & not "co-directed by Whedon".
Yeah, the movie was not what Snyder intended, but he still directed it & the fact is that cut also received way better reception than BvS, so there's that.

Good. Can't wait to see this Christmas Day. Hopefully we get a hint at a Veronica Cale transition for Part 3 in the post-credits.

Very understandable. I feel like I'm one of the few who is on board with the notion of WB releasing their 2020/2021 movie spread via HBO Max plus additional shows. With so many movies to release, it's a good way to keep people on the network all year round in the midst of pandemic, and still bank.
The theater is an option but the safety of basically a ticket price at home for a monthly subscription to watch all of WB's content is good business in my book. Definitely understand why some directors would hate that, but we can't control the times we're in, and it's good to have the option, especially when a mass vaccine isn't said to be available till around the Fall of 2021. If we're going to deal with the bad, this is a whole lot of good and I think by the end of 2021, WB will show successful profit in a significant way.
It'll definitely be better than nothing, that's for sure. And once the U.S. gets their act together in the co-vid department and society starts to normalize a bit more regularly, I wouldn't doubt that a lot of those movies might get released again for those they know that didn't buy HBO Max or go to the theater, or who want to see those movies again they saw on HBO Max on the big screen. I stand by the premise that it's a good move by the WB.

I would assume it would either be just an extra scene of the movie itself or a setup for the 3rd movie

Damn Nolan.
“Some of our industry’s biggest filmmakers and most important movie stars went to bed the night before thinking they were working for the greatest movie studio and woke up to find out they were working for the worst streaming service. Warner Bros. had an incredible machine for getting a filmmaker’s work out everywhere, both in theaters and in the home, and they are dismantling it as we speak. They don’t even understand what they’re losing. Their decision makes no economic sense, and even the most casual Wall Street investor can see the difference between disruption and dysfunction.”

Wow, harsh words, but what was he saying exactly? What was the “incredible machine”? Was he thinking limited theatrical release followed by an HBO Max release, rather than both at the same time?

Probably talking about AT&T firing a lot of people. They are restructuring the company around HBO max so people who managed cinema side of things are not needed.

I'm hearing a chatter that if HBO MAX keeps failing for another couple years, AT&T will eventually give up and sell it. At first I thought, that would be idiocy, but then I reminded myself of how bad AT&T's business record for the last 10 years has been and I decided that this wasn't too farfetched. Let DC burn. Perhaps it will rise out of the ashes when it's bought by Amazon or Netflix and we'll see the proper DC in 10 or 20 years. Just need to live long enough.

Remember how they tried to sell WB interactive...This was despite gaming making records while other entertainment was slumping. The reason that WB interactive survived was cause they did not get the desired amount as Microsoft was the biggest bidder and they wanted rights for cloud gaming which WB interactive failed to provide.Reality is that AT&T is swimming in debt and they have to take drastic steps sooner or later.

You confuse me with someone who cares....My biggest issue with Snyder is his trash movies and him making DC a laughingstock.Look at all the color in WW 84 and then look at BvS. Difference is obvious.

It shows it’s the year 2024 and Vanessa Kirby as Silver Swan flying toward a swampy bayou, landing on top a huge half-covered muddy dome submerged in the murky waters and Gorilla Grodd and friends come out. 🙏🤞🏼😎
