Patty Jenkins issues statement on Wonder Woman 1984 release

Director Patty Jenkins has issued a statement about the news that Wonder Woman 1984 will be heading to HBO Max on Christmas Day.

"THE TIME HAS COME," emphasized Jenkins. "At some point you have to choose to share any love and joy you have to give over everything else. We truly hope that our film brings a little bit of joy and reprieve to all of you this holiday season."

"Watch it IN THEATERS , where it is made to do so (check out the great work theaters have done to make it so!)," added Jenkins. And available in the safety of your home on HBO MAX where it is not. Happy holidays to all of you. We hope you enjoy our film as much as we enjoyed making it."

Jenkins had made her desire for the film to receive a full theatrical release clear, but sadly the Coronavirus just shows no signs of letting up any time soon.

Wonder Woman 1984 will hit theaters and HBO Max on Dec. 25.

Is it me or does that come off wrong? Sounds like a jab at HBO Max, doesn't it?

  I know she really wanted it to be a big screen experience; she's been enthusiastic for theater support for a while now.
  This isn't necessarily negative toward HBO Max in general, but for her movie she wants people to see it in theaters. The rest of it is just covering her bases politically because people are bound to overreact to her suggesting people go out in public right now.

    pretty much the same thing Nolan was saying with Tenet, a lot of directors prefer the theater experience

A better statement would have been:
“Stay home, stay safe, enjoy WW in the comfort of your homes on X-mas day with your families.”

Looks like Patty are Nolan are same.They don't want theaters to die but also wants to move on by releasing the movie.
