Zack Snyder discusses a new look for Joker in Justice League

It seems that the Joker won't look exactly as you remember him when you see him in Zack Snyder's Justice League

Zack Snyder sat down for a new interview with Grace Randolph, and while the topics covered a range of subjects, there was definitely one that jumped out of you. Not only does Snyder confirm the Jared Leto news - which was fairly clear already - but he discusses the fact that Jared Leto will have a new look in the film.

Discussion of the Joker begins at 4:22, we do recommend if you want to go into Zack Snyder's Justice League spoiler free you don't listen. While he never explicitly gives away too much, it's not difficult to figure out what he is speaking around.

The whole interview is worth a watch, but we can't wait to see what this new look is for Leto's Joker.

Unfortunately don’t have time to watch through the full video yet - and still wanna see the League of Mayhem vid with him, too - but, just listening to chapters 5-8 of that interview, this (in addition to Joe Manganiello’s Mohawk) definitely seems to me to basically confirm...

FAIRLY MAJOR SPOILERS BEYOND THIS POINT

...that they were shooting the Knightmare future scenes for this chunk of additional photography, and that it seems to be true after all that Joker and Deathstroke will be involved in that timeline, alongside Batman. How they will explain the Joker ever helping Batman save the world, I don’t know; that seems out of character to me, for sure, but we’ll just have to wait and see for the explanation that the story gives before we can judge.
Am looking forward to seeing what a post-apocalyptic Joker would look like, though xD

Yeah I gotta give you credit. Sounds like you were right in your predictions. Zack also said he’s only adding 4 minutes of additional footage and that it’s mostly from his original ideas. You called it, I was wrong. I kinda wish he was shooting more and setting up possibilities for a second series, but it still seems like he is putting forth what he always wanted.

Pretty much what I've been dreaming since they originally showed him in Squad.
Could we get it here? I mean, some dreams have been coming true lately... Seems almost karmic, and seems to be growing to encapsulate almost every aspect that WB sort of screwed up on post-BvS.
We've always said Leto could be amazing for the character if he were just handled well. :)
We'll see what he winds up looking like, but I'm enthusiastic that he's getting an update at all. Fingers crossed.

  Stylistically, ofc I would prefer they remove that abomination of a face tattoo... but it wouldn't make any sense narratively speaking. I always have hated story inconsistencies & this one would be pretty big so I guess it's just best if they leave it be.

      The Joker using different make-up would have been an easy 'out' for the tattoos, but since he's bleached, that complicates things. lol
      It also didn't bleach out when he jumped in the vat after Harley, either, but maybe a few more dips...

      Tattoo removal could have been part of his forced therapy at Arkham. A dentist visit and letting his eyebrows grow back hopefully were included in his therapy as well. The rest of his look was pretty good imo. I enjoyed his clothing choices and underground kingpin representation a lot.

  Yeah, a decision of his I hated and hoped would be abandoned. Seeing the Richard Grayson grave in Bruce’s parents’ funeral scene made no sense and since it wasn’t zoomed in for the audience to read, I had hoped it was an idea that the execs shut down. I guess our best hope is for Ben to go back and tell stories before BvS that allow for it to be Jason instead. Big “IFs” I know, but I want Nightwing and Tim Drake’s Robin in the DCEU.

Yeah same. I’m guessing that was gonna be for JL part 2 . Or he already shot those scenes. But I doubt it cause Leto never worked with Snyder until these reshoots. So unless in these 5 minutes they show that which I doubt. It was meant for part 2. Maybe WB will let Snyder get a refresh and finish the story with a part 2. And no Robin casting?

It's beyond clear whatever monstrosity he is currently making has nothing in common with his original cut, lol. Keep in mind the first movie we saw of his still had 80% of the footage he shot. Somehow I I think his second attempt is going to be like 50% new footage. Also, I apologize to everyone, I know this post will cause Ninja to swoop in in and blast lies in defense of his internet husband.

    Whedon cut 3 hours off and shot roughly 45 mins of his own material. Zack’s footage still accounted for over an hour of the theatrical version.

    You should read up on DGA rules for accreditation. Because they are a far more credible source than Snyder cultists who have a history of pathologically lying, like insisting the Snyder cut was finished when it clearly is nowhere close to being so.

I'm gonna flip my wig so hard if we get to see Thawne in a movie any time soon. These are all top tier picks with a lot of personal grit with the JL heroes that's ripe for picking in a movie.
Suicide Squad is popular and all, but the Legion of Doom is on a whole other level. We need Lex in the center of this poster, though!

    I'll be honest, the show is what made me love Thawne as a character.
    Most of my love for the Flash (reverse or otherwise) prior was the JLU cartoon and some nostalgia I had for some super old Silver Age comics I read as a kid and watching some of the 90s show (which the CW Flash got me to go back and binge all the way through).
    When I went back and re-read Johns' Flash Rebirth, I could so distinctly hear Tom Cavanagh's voice when Thawne would speak.
    I almost can't imagine anyone else playing him. I loved it.
    CW is a mixed bag for me. I almost exclusively watch The Flash, barring crossovers. I liked the first couple of seasons of Legends quite a lot too.
    Nothing's perfect, but I like those two shows anyway. Still a season behind on Flash because life's been complicated.

      Ah, very cool. I pretty much quit CW stuff when I realized it was still just normal CW melodrama but with superhero action spliced in. I wasn't really a fan of many of the costumes or the fight scenes either. Arrow taking Batman's stories and making them his also seemed wrong to me.
      But I checked out the first season of the Flash and yeah, Cavanagh's Thawne was incredible. I'd put season 1 of the Flash up there among the best superhero TV seasons...not as high as Daredevil but maybe on par with Jessica Jones season 2. Certainly better than Titans and Iron Fist/Luke Cage.
      It's funny I used to love Cavanagh on his show Ed as the bowling alley lawyer...never thought I would see him in a main role again let alone as such sinister bad guy.

      Yup. He also didn't have the vibe I loved GA for from the 70s comics and JLU. I didn't watch much of Arrow probably for that reason alone.
      I like the actor, but it was like somebody in charge didn't want to embrace the character fully, so they just kept aping Batman more and more (which I guess the comics did do a bit too) and it felt a little hokey and embarrassed of itself.
      Some of the melodramatic choices (like how they handled relationships) irked me too. They couldn't land a solid Black Canary, and Felicity had better vibes with Barry anyway. haha
      Gotta say, GA did look pretty awesome on the island though.

The additional photography lasted for about a week as reported. Batfleck was there and one of his cowls came apart immediately from wear and tear. Heh.

He directed a new scene with Miller via zoom with the crew of Fantastic Beasts 3. Them in London, he in LA. Getting Netflix Henry shouldn´t be too hard then but the 5 minutes of new footage bit has me questioning what is being done. Is he doing reshoots + pickups and 5 minutes of fully new stuff? We´ll see.

The 4-hour runtime was again reconfirmed. He remembered how he was second-guessed on the set back in 2016 why all this footage was being shot as there was no place in the mandated runtime to use it and he struggled to get UC BvS and DC Watchmen down to only 3 hours and change so expect no filler. Snyder shooting all that stuff back then further lead to TSC having less additional or re-filming that such films usually have.

He reconfirmed that it was Toby Emmerich who called him last November to make TSC a thing after the Twitter trending campaign succeeded.

The Joker will be world-weary and his relationship with Batman will have changed. Grace saw his design and loves it. A Knightmare appetizer is what that sounds like. He again let it slip that he is up for more but it is on us to prove that there is a market for such content of course. Well, here I am.

The film and all the additional work is "focus group" free. What is being done by his team will go on our screens.

Really hope we hear concrete news about Cavill's future as Superman. The new rumoured 6 film deal sounds great but until its confirmed, i wont get too excited.

Cannot wait to see the full four hour version of Zacks Justice League. Hopefully its available here in Ireland day one as i want to pay for it to show my support and encourage the studio that there is an audience for this franchise.
