The member of The Batman cast and crew that came down with the coronavirus was Batman himself, Robert Pattinson.

Following reports earlier Thursday that The Batman had shut down production, the news was confirmed in a brief statement from Warner Bros. “A member of The Batman production has tested positive for COVID-19, and is isolating in accordance with established protocols. Filming is temporarily paused.”

Vanity Fair is now reporting that the crew member was actually Robert Pattinson. According to the report, Warner Bros. nor Pattinson's rep will confirm that it is indeed the actor who contracted the virus, but multiple sources are saying that is indeed the case.

Pattinson reportedly tested positive after work resumed on the film on Monday, Aug. 31.

Production on The Batman resumed this week after being shut down since March due to the coronavirus pandemic. While precautions are being taken by every studio, it seems that you can't keep the virus away entirely.

If Pattinson is indeed the castmember to have contracted the virus - and The Hollywood Reporter has also confirmed the information - this should mean a two-week shutdown for the film at a minimum and possibly longer. This will also mean further testing for all of the cast and crew he has had contact with which is sure to be a sizable list.

We'll be keeping an eye on this for sure and wish Pattinson a speedy recovery.

The Batman is scheduled to hit theaters on Oct. 1, 2021.

    Look, I really wish him well, but it's not the end of the world every time someone you know gets this virus. (Given how it spreads most people WILL eventually contract it)
    He's relatively young and as far as I know doesn't have any preexisting conditions so hopefully he'll be fine after a few weeks.

    I love BvS and Covid is very real, my dad's colleague got it and gave a very detailed description of what he went through. But he's recovering now, which is good. Then again, I'm not American lol.

    For sure. I don't know how to characterize it, I've just noticed an awful lot of BvS fans are MAGA types. It seemed like a majority to me, but I can't say for sure. I think it would be interesting to see. They probably like Snyder's stuff for the same reasons they like The Punisher.

        Direct responses to your points:
        1.) Trump never has, and never will support racism. He's not a racist person. If you saw the RNC in particular you would know that. It's something that's so obvious that no one should have to say, "racism is bad".
        2.) Tried to act like a king...? What? Where's your evidence of that? I don't recall Trump's executive order to declare himself monarch or create vassals.
        3.) What do you mean "inciting violence?" How? The rioters have been anti-Trump and yet people still blame it on him. He has done nothing but tried to offer help to cities suffering from the rioters/looters and the only reason things are so bad is because most of the liberal leaders reject the help or only take it temporarily when things get REALLY bad.         4.) Every country was slow to respond to COVID, not really a valid argument. If he had locked down the country immediately, he would have received widespread backlash. China and Italy both instituted extreme penalties for breaking quarantine and no body is singing their praises.
        5.) For every 100 republicans that don't like Trump, I can give you a thousand who do. Plus, according to a CNN poll, 60% of Trump's base is voting for him due to an enthusiasm for his platform and 40% are voting for him because they don't want Biden. For Biden infact, those percentages are flipped. The guy was been a politician for almost half a century and yet claims he can suddenly change things for the better?
        6.) Policy-wise, the US is ALOT better than it was 4 years ago. The riots and COVID were hardly his fault, and he's mitigating those as best as someone reasonably can while respecting states' rights.

      Yeah it's hard to say, there are no real numbers. I've just seen a lot of it, especially on this site. I think it would be interesting to see, because it's not surprising to me that a lot of Trump fans would flock to Snyder's movies, even if it's for the wrong reasons (like how many people hold Rorschach up as a hero).

    I sure am, but of course Covid isn't fake, I don't think Trump supporters are strongly connected to not believing in Covid (hell, about 99% of people I've met said that they think the measures currently being taken are fine or should be stricter). Can you really blame me for not taking it that seriously right at the beginning? I certainly wouldn't blame anyone for that. I need to see something before I believe it, and I'm generally distrustful of the media in general, but I never dismissed it as fake, I just wasn't sure if it was truly "that bad". Yet it was.
    Political views are very subjective, as are movie tastes. I think the only thing worth disliking in BatfleckRules' comment was his brash delivery. Making shot-in-the-dark guesses as to irrelevant aspects of someone's beliefs don't really do anything in this context. It's disappointing that filming is taking a rest from it's rest, but at the end of the day, of course I don't want a sick man to work with the coronavirus-for his own health and the health of others.

      I think it's not about blanket statements, but just...membership. For example, the people that refuse to wear masks and protest with guns to protect their freedom...there is almost no chance those people re going to be left leaning, and there is a high chance such people will follow a MAGA philosophy.
      Of course not all Trump supporters act like that do, but the people that do act like that are typically trump supporters.
      I think in general. Trump supporters don't really think their positions or reasoning through (some do and some have their reasons, but I don't think most do, evidenced by comments on sites like The Hill which is not partisan ), so I can see a movie that has the appearance of being deep but isn't, and is really just an excuse for slow motion action appealing to them. Let's not forget it was one of the worst movies released, with a record setting drop in ticket sales after word of mouth got out. The small amount of people that really like and defend it probably fall into a few groups.

Though I will say, people who are not well-read on politics who believe themselves to be zealous really, really annoy me. Alot of people I've interacted with have their entire political view shaped by something they heard from a friend or co-worker that they just blindly trusted without research. I would go so far as to say, MOST people in America don't even do their own research, which is why the uninformed voter is a epidemic in my mind.
        I haven't seen BVS in about 2 years or so, so I can't say that I still love it, even if I remember liking it alot. Mostly what appealed to me was the acting, action, cinematography, and ideas explored. I think anyone who says that the movie had a good buildup is just lying to themselves, but as a comic fan, that buildup wasn't necessarily needed to get my interested in the premise. I loved the fast pace of that movie, but I know many who felt like it was choppy. Lastly, there are so many beautiful shots in that movie that make it rewatchable for me on that basis alone.

        No, it isn't true for most leftists at all. Maybe the very young, like students and such, which is true for both 'sides', but it becomes less true with maturity. The fundamental point is that the progressive side is supported by science and data, and the conservative side is supported by "belief" which is directly contradicted by science and data. Basically, it's willful ignorance.
        There's no need to think anything through when you've just chosen to believe something regardless of reasoned arguments and data. Abortion being a human right is supported by science and data, the opposing arguments come from religion. Same for LGBT rights (barring trans stuff which is a point of contention even on the left), same for foreign policy (building a wall is a proven waste of money). For most things, the conservative point of view is pretty darn close to objectively wrong.
        But then, I don't think we should have a democracy t all. Most people are sheep that need to be herded, not given a voice.
        As for BvS, I'm surprised anyone found it fast paced. For me it seemed to really drag on, especially with scenes that didn't really communicate anything. I would be one who thinks it was choppy...the editing was one of the worst aspects of the film IMO, with low levels of connective tissue between scenes. As for nice shots...I guess? My idea of nice is Roger Deakins type , and Fong isn't close to being on that level for me.

By what you said, it seems that you just fundamentally don't understand what the conservative platform actually is. It's really not as religious as you think, it just doesn't ignore religion either. In my entire life, I can count off on one hand the amount of liberals I met who have done their own research, or even left the safety of MSNBC to look for political news. It absolutely IS true for liberals, I'd say even more than conservatives. Conservatives on average tend to be more logical thinkers whereas liberals are more emotional thinkers.
        The Abortion and Gay rights stuff I can't disagree with you on, those are mainly religious-based issues. Although I will personally say that Abortion should not be allowed in any state up until a month before birth. However, for foreign policy, the wall is actually proven to be unclimable and I promise you, when finished, will significantly deescalate the amount of sex, drug, and illegal trafficking into our country.
        It's funny you say that, because I look at the progressive standpoint as objectively wrong. They want America to be heavily involved in other countries' affairs, even if we have no personal reason for it. They want a globalist economy, which relies on us as a nation taking a backseat and funneling money into places like China, who only seek to take advantage of our generosity. People like AOC claim that renewable energy is the future, yet even Micheal Moore found that renewable energy is far more expensive and relies on fossil fuels to even work. It's just not a realistic alternative yet.

Think about it, if even this film, which must have had the best security measures against the virus can pay, is struck by it, then short of sealing ourselves forever or until a vaccine comes (doubtful) we aren't going to hold the tide long enough before the whole system collapses.

Why are they rushing this, not a good move. Now, they have to wait even more. Nothing will be safe again until after a successful vaccine comes out, plain and simple. Movies, and entertainment in general is great, but you have to be alive and healthy to enjoy it. Stay safe everyone!!

    They have to wait it out, it's that simple, but I guess the money is too big so what do I know. They took the big risk big reward route, and failed big time. I mean your main character gets Covid19 during filming, you know you messed up. My bet all the positive talk during the trailer they dropped got to their head, and they went and rushed it. This will definitely push the release date.

        scenario he not only recovers, but no one else caught it, would they

        Maybe Robert caught the virus from someone unrelated to the production and didn't pass it on to the cast it crew because they were following safe working practices?
        If so.... they may be able to resume filming in two weeks time.

        What they'll probably do is wait until he recovers, continue, and if anyone else super essential reports symptoms, they'll shut it down again. It makes no sense for WB to shut down production for 4 more months "just in case" especially when some people might go into quarantine and some might go elsewhere in the world, possibly contracting the virus.

I hope he gets well. If things continue like this then the movie's pretty much screwed. I think the best thing for it and everyone involved is to simply halt production completely and just wait at least 6 months.

      If they wrap filming by end of year, it can. It all depends on how this happened, how much it spread, and how quickly Pattinson recovers. Most people recover in a few weeks.

You know, call me a doomsayer, but I'm starting to think that if we can't even go to work under strict security measures (which I'm sure this high budget film had) anymore without catching a virus that can kill, and even leave deep lasting damage even when you are asymptomatic, depending on a future vaccine that might never arrive or be truly effective, then we may well be globally done as a society in the long run.
What are we going to do? All stay locked up forever and working from home? Are we going to build houses, operate power plants and farms, all from home, seriously?
This damn virus, really. We can't really hold like this for much longer, especially those of us living in poor countries (of course, who has ever cared about us?) We'll be done by either the virus or the crisis, because at this rate we are going to freaking starve.

I work in Oncology and was exposed to COVID, after self-isolating for four weeks I got clear of it. My symptoms we’re ultimately pretty mild compared to others, but it will definitely kick your ass if you allow it. Hopefully Robert only has mild symptoms, but I imagine WB will be providing him with top notch medical care and treatment.
