After numerous rumors, it looks as though The Batman will indeed head back before cameras in Sept.

As the coronavirus pandemic took hold around the world, Matt Reeves' The Batman had to halt production in March. Reports indicated that only 25% of the film had been shot by the time it was shut down. Rumors have started picking up in recent weeks that the film was eying a return to work in Sept., and according to a new report from Variety, that is indeed happening.

Multiple sources that have spoken with Variety have indicated that crews are back on set and working on constructing sets. The hope is that the film could potentially wrap its shoot by the end of the year and still make its current Oct. 2021 release date.

None of this, of course, is currently written in stone, however. Coronavirus hot spots have popped up around the U.K., and there is still a fear of a second wave of hitting in the fall and winter in some locations. Movie studios are taking numerous precautions to ensure safety, and some films are returning to work to guidebooks that number over 100 pages. While things could still change, the precautions being taken should keep any film up and running so that it can finish production.

Currently, The Batman is scheduled to hit theaters on Oct. 1, 2021.
