While fans are eagerly anticipating seeing Wonder Woman 1984 at long last, director Patty Jenkins already has a bit to say about ending her run on the franchise.
As the second Wonder Woman film has seemingly found a release date this fall, that means the cast and crew will be gearing up for more interviews. Speaking with German Magazine Geek, Jenkins share some thoughts on what Wonder Woman 1984 allowed her to explore, and what the future holds.
"Wonder Woman 1984 gave me a chance to do a lot of things that I couldn't accommodate in the first movie." said Jenkins. "I was so happy to tell the Wonder Woman origin story. It was almost her birth, but we really haven't seen what she is capable of." She went on to add, "It is exciting for me to show her at the peak of her strength. But it is also very important that she fights an internal struggle: she is a Goddess and tries to help humanity. She is not only someone who fights evil, she tries to show bad people how to improve. It's an interesting dilemma."
As to what the future holds, Jenkins said, "The [third film] is probably my last Wonder Woman movie, so I have to put everything I want to show there. We have to think carefully."
While the first film explored Diana's origins, and the second one seems to explore her powers and place in the world more fully, you have to wonder where the third will go. Another time jump seems inevitable, but where will it place her and where will she be in her own life?
For now, we're just hoping everything if finally a go for the second outing. Wonder Woman 1984 is scheduled to hit theaters on Oct. 2.
