After a burst of work last year on the New Gods film, information has been fairly quiet on the project. Thanks to a tweet, however, we know work is indeed continuing.
Immediately following San Diego Comic-Con 2019, Ava DuVernay and Tom King met up to begin work on the script for the New Gods film. Since then, updates have been sporadic at best. The last update came in early January with DuVernay confirming work was continuing on the script and that she was starting to dream about casting.
Now, in a very minor update, DuVerynay has confirmed another character for the film, the lesser-known All-Widow.
All-Widow is the Queen of the Bugs and assists the New Gods with their war against Darkseid and Apokolips. If we're going to see characters such as her included, it sounds as though we're going to see this film going pretty deep into the overall New Gods mythos.
As of right now, no release date has been teased for New Gods. With all of the current delays due to the coronavirus pandemic, it will probably be some time before we hear much more.
