David Benioff & D.B. Weiss developing Vertigo Lovecraft movie

It seems that Warner Bros. has yet another DC-based property in the works for the big screen. Deadline has exclusively revealed that Game of Thrones showrunners David Benioff & D.B. Weiss are working on an adaptation of Vertigo's Lovecraft.

According to Deadline, Phil Hay and Matt Manfredi will be tackling the script having written projects such as Aeon Flux and Ride Along. Karyn Kusama will serve as an executive producer.

Nothing official is known about the plot as of yet, but apparently the film will be set in the 1920s and ask the question of what if H.P. Lovecraft's stories were based on actual events. Cthulu on the big screen? We'll take it.

Benioff and Weiss recently departed working on a Star Wars film project, but still have a deal in place with Netflix. How soon they will be able to get to this project will be the big question mark. Apparently this film was in talks prior to the Netflix deal, so it may take a higher priority for all concerned.

With the growing slate of upcoming DC films, it's about to be a busy time for DC fans.

Said no one with actual common sense ever. There is a reason these guys are in a lot of talks right now. You got a little bit of white stuff on your lip. Might wanna wipe that off ehen you get a chance.

Lack of respect to the audience and the source material. For being incredibly selfish and unprofessional in their decisions as to what projects do and when and for their lack of creativity

  Everything connects:
  Lack of creativity and disrespectful to the source material after running out of it. They didn't understand what made the show good so they started subverting expectations just cause. Characters stopped behaving as themselves. They made complete storylines pointless. Even when Martin told them how it would end, they weren't good enough to make is cohesive and coherent.
  That leads to them being unprofessional: They had the Star wars project, they wanted to do it and stop working on GoT. So instead of leaving and letting someone else do it, they decided to half ass it. They were offered to seasons more, they were offered extra episodes in the last season and they said no. Just to rush it and be over with it and move on to the next thing.
  I'll give them credit where credit is due. They were great show runners for the first 6 seasons. They coordinated well their team but they are no good writers.
  Look at what else they have done other than GoT.
  Also, why on earth would they drop from the Star Wars project? Clearly they were fired and they said it was a conflict of timing but thats silly. It was known that was their next thing.
  Being selfish is completely fine. But they got greedy and wanted it all and it backfired.

Not surprising to see them getting so many offers after they created the most successful and acclaimed show of the last decade. Game of Thrones dominated everything on TV, and in the last seasons everything in theaters too.

Why is this an article on Batman-News.com? This has absolutely nothing to do with Batman. I'm tired of seeing post after post that has nothing to do with this website. There's been actual Batman News that this site has missed and never reported, but you report this? This is speculator news, not Batman News. This site has fallen off a cliff with the new owners and new writers. At least the comic section is still almost as good as it used to be..
