Joker falls to second place in weekend box office numbers

We knew the race for first place was close, and it most assuredly was.

When the weekend box office numbers come out on Sunday those are projections. They are, for the most part, pretty accurate, but when a race is tight, things can change. When the numbers came out this week, the numbers came in with Joker winning the weekend with $18.9 million to Maleficent: Mistress of Evil bringing in $18.53 million.

The actual numbers came out, and everyone did better than expected, which is good, but it also meant Joker fell to second place.

Maleficent ended up winning the weekend with $19.369 million to $19.248 million for Joker. Even if it didn't get the top spot, Joker still outperformed expectations, and that's good news all around.

Terminator: Dark Fate will win the upcoming weekend, but Joker will still have a good performance, only adding to its already impressive coffers.

Yeah he's annoying. But in case some people don't know what it means, it means that WB trusted more in the MCU formula than more dark/serious CBM. WB could have earned a lot of money with Joker but they didn't. This clearly shows the WB studios have no clue about what they're doing

This was the exact same thought I had! Surely now that Joker was so successful they’ll finally follow through with that now, right? Can somebody with social media tell Joe Manganiello and Gareth Evans to start lobbying for it again since Joker makes it so that it could actually happen?

    Its more the actor whose playing him in the DCEU, i was on ok with him originally but the Titans for me just fits him so perfectly with the perfect age, look and voice. That said Evans doing a film with the TItans Deathstroke i would kill for even there's zero chance of that.

I just don't see a Deathstroke movie happening.JL dark, Lex Luthor have a bigger chance.Read a post on Reddit yesterday talking about how JL dark is back on the table.Doctor Sleep director met with WB for a DC movie before he did Doctor Sleep.So, Him or Stranger things writers are expected to do JL dark.

Still waiting with bated breath for that inevitable announcement of the Shazam sequel. A film many here still think is happening.

      Not until we see the final confirmation.I had my doubts about the sequel happening cause of how petty wb is when it comes to box office but not after Rock confirmed his BA and WB having that untitled event slot on April 16, 2021.Shazam was released in march but march 2021 is packed.

    Seeing as Rock is getting BA, A Shazam sequel is locked.I expect, It to be release on the April 16, 2021 untitled event date wb recently owns.

      At this point, i dont even see the BA film to be released on that date. The Rock (and only the rock) sending out that info about when BA will start shooting is him being inpatient and frustrated. There isnt even a writer attached. Im sure its getting made, but not when everyone thinks it will.

      Shazam was a success. I don’t know why you keep peddling the idea that it wasn’t. Liking/disliking a movie and recognizing it did well/poor commercially are two separate things.

      For me, it didnt make enough to warrant the reviews and the marketing. Solo made more money and that will go down as the biggest disaster of a huge franchise. For me, this made Justice League type money for what it was representing. It should have made ant man and wasp type money and came nowhere close. Disaster.

Im all for a BA movie, i think it has great potential. Shazam does not. Even with what help the Rock might give ticket sales. Nobody cares about Shazam. Was there something i was missing from its total BO??
