Brandon Routh to suit up as Superman in Crisis on Infinite Earths crossover

Brandon Routh will once again be putting on the Superman costume as Crisis on Infinite Earths comes to the Arrowverse shows.

Deadline reported on Friday morning that Routh will suit up as Superman for the upcoming Crisis on Infinite Earths event. This was then confirmed by Routh himself shortly after the news broke. "Honored, humbled, grateful, and still pinching myself," said the actor in a tweet.

Routh may play Ray Palmer/The Atom now, but he played Superman in Bryan Singer's 2006 Superman Returns film. He is clearly familiar with the weight that comes with playing this role.

Those that follow the Arrowverse shows will be aware that this mini-universe already has a Superman in Tyler Hoechlin. Not to fear, however, he will also be returning for the crossover as the Man of Steel. Apparently, the plan calls for them to both play the role. With the premise of this crossover, this is an easy explanation that Routh is simply the Superman from a different Earth.

The CW will be hosting an Arrowverse panel on Saturday night at San Diego Comic-Con where the formal announcement of this news is expected to be made.

We are the Flash''), stole all the authority Rip Hunter had as Booster Gold's son, Superman into a yesman only meant to make his cousin look better and soon ruin Batwoman as an LBGT character who never even cared about being one, ONLY ABOUT BEING ABLE TO SERVE AS A SOLDIER AGAIN!

      We can all she how Batwoman is going to be a character assassination by not having her make her own stuff instead stealing them from Batman, having her dad not be working with her as a supporting character because he is a white man and changing the reasons behind her wearing a bat-symbol on the first place, to let people know she is on their side and not because she took Batman's place.

Well this is quite a surprise!!! Like the comic version on Crisis there was many versions of our hero’s including Superman. What really blows my mind here, is that WB is allowing this. So if this is a go why not Batman for Crisis? I know Batman is set to shoot soon for the big screen, but I am sure his new suit for Peterson is probably already set. So with that said, why not have Batman in the Arrowverse using a completely different costume!!! I would love to see Will Arnett in Keaton’s black ‘89 suit. Of course with advanced costuming since then, same cowl with a thinner/movable neck. Will rocked Keaton’s costume a few years back an some awards show.
As for 2 different Supermen, didn’t we have John Wesley Ship appear in last years crossover next to Grant in his 90’s Flash suit!!!
I say go for it and bring in Batman for God sake!!!!!!!

Batman is an A-tier character, and so are Wonder Woman and Aquaman. Superman has been steadily losing relevance on the big screen. The character belongs on streaming tbh.

  I know Batman is WB/DC money maker and top hero right now, but a 10 minute cameo in a different suit, would NOT take away any thing from the film world. Batman’s cameo back on Birds of Prey did not hurt the film franchise at all and based on his costume, it appeared to be the same continuity. As long as he is not over used in the Arrowverse it should not be a problem. Actually it would be a ratings grabber and that is $$$$ for everyone!!!!

    Actually, Batman isn't WB's top hero. At least not for the moment. The guy who ran the JL test screenings said that WW was the most popular hero followed by Aquaman and then the Flash. Batman and Superman have fallen from grace with the GA due to MoS and BvS. Fandango also ran a survey prior to JL that backed up WW as the character GA most wanted to see.

      To be technical, he was hired to play Bruce Wayne, and based on everything posted on most of these type of web sites, he will be playing an older Bruce and you may NOT be seeing him as Batman. I guess time will tell.

    But he's right. Superman is losing it. People's interest in him is falling. The misrepresentation of who he is in most media is also not helping. The public know him either as a boring super strong character who's only weakness is kryptonite, a super strong man who doesn't seem heroic at all, or an evil dictator. None of them portray the core of Superman I have read in comic

      Yeah but Superman is still joint 1st with Bats and Spidey as the most famous comic book character on the planet, everyone everywhere knows who Superman is. Got to remember pre-Batman Begins Batman himself wasn't exactly popular to those who don't read comics or watch cartoons, B&R made him a joke and it wasn't until Nolan done Begins that he started to become popular again and even Begins didn't do great at the box office, The Dark Knight with Ledger was what put Batman back on the map along with the following years Arkham Asylum game.
      Give a Superman a great film and there's no reason he can't regain what was lost, unlike other heroes Superman will always be well known so give him that right film like Batman got his and i feel Superman could be big again.

That's awesome! I think they really fucked up with Superman Returns by making it a sequel to Superman II. Routh should have been able to play his own version and not emulate Reeves.

Well, at least this will probably be the most eventful and ambitious crossover yet with everything that's going down with Oliver, Batwoman now in the mix and two Supermen in play among other things. Nice to see them stepping up the ante. Should be fun.

As for his suit im intrigued if he's an established superman from any earth which opens more possibilities post crisis of more than 1 superman as they ain't gonna kill the multiverse angle completely its good theyve established the idea of more than one version of a hero
