The Flash TV series hunting for a new Big Bad for season 6

It's that magical time of year where the majority of the network TV shows are on hiatus, but that doesn't mean work isn't going on behind the scenes. Over at The Flash on The CW, the producers are currently on the hunt for their new main villain.

While season 5 wrapped up with Eobard Thawne/Reverse-Flash (Tom Cavanagh) still a threat, and the Crisis on Infinite Earths hanging over their heads, a season-long enemy is still needed. According to a new snippet from TV Line, that is exactly what the producers are working on.

Who, or what, the new villain will be is still a mystery, but reportedly they are looking to "introduce a new male Big Bad, and rumor has it producers are eyeing diverse actors for the part." This is a pretty wide-open description and could be any number of villains. The only thing we're thinking is that it won't be a speedster. The series seems to have learned that you can have evil speedsters in the mix, just don't make them the focus. The Reverse Flash will always be in the mix somewhere, somehow, he just won't be at the forefront.

The Flash will return to The CW this fall for season 6, but no premiere date has been announced as of yet. The first half of the season will likely be at least somewhat devoted to the coming Crisis. The date on the future newspaper has changed to 2019 from 2024, and Arrow only having 10 episodes for its final season, it seems all of the shows will be working towards this momentous crossover event.

I think non speedster big bads have been flops and the writers have struggled to have them stand a chance against Barry and make it work so make Godspeed or better yet Red Death the big bad and just stick with them.

Honestly they should split the season into 3 parts with each part having its own story and big bad what ultimately ties into a greater whole with the ultimate big bad of the season, it would make the series less bloated and not feel dragged out.

Season 1,2 were the best.After that, It is downhill.I still watch it though.

  I think S3 had its moments as well but yeah S4 and S5 are dire.

Its a shame we will probably never get to see The Rogues come together in their entirety to fight The Flash

Especially when they are so much better then nearly all the big bads they have used.

  They really are. Like you could easily break up an entire season focusing on a few members and then bring them all together for the finale. The Rogues are such an interesting group of villains and the TV show really missed an opportunity.

    Yeah the dynamic between them and the code they live by really sets them apart, when they are pretty close knit they are just as dangerous as someone like Thawne to Barry or Wally, hell they even killed Bart so they can bring down a Speedster even Bart was weakened at the time.

The Flash is always at its best when he is fighting evil speedsters. Because of his powers no other villains will ever be as equal or dangerous to him as the likes of Thawne or Zolomon. Rogues are mostly fun but are in no way equal to Flash or constitute a real high stakes threat.

Grodd is probably the only villain who comes close to speedster villains but as the TV show has clearly proven it always at it's best and most exciting when Barry goes up against other speedsters.

The best part of last season was once again Thawne. peoples favorite seasons are the first two. How much more obvious can it be ?

Have you actually even read Johns run on The Flash, The Rogues were the best part of it and had one of the best Flash stories in Rogue War, Johns work on them was incredible and he gave them an insane amount of depth. The Rogues are unique and actually pretty dangerous if Barry, Wally and especially Bart aren't careful. The Rogues are easily up there with Thawne and Zolomon as Barry and Wally's best foes and its fucking terrible the show has misused them so much and never made them the big bads of a Season. Frankly if a film ever happens i want The Rogues as the villains instead of Thawne.

Of villains they haven't used at all yet, the ones I think have the most potential to be built into a major threat would be the Turtle, the Kilg%re the Shade, Kobra, and Abra Kadabra

Turtle, Shade and Abra Kadabra have all been used, in fact Kadabra had one of the best episodes on S3 and i hope one day they bring him back.

I love coming here, but the Flash spoilers in headline thumbnails make me shy away, I have to say.

I don't see Flash seasons until they're up on Netflix, and even then it isn't immediate (for a number of reasons). :(
