Jim Lee has teamed up with HEX to launch a pair of backpacks that the comics industry has needed for decades.
Artists and collectors alike have some pretty specific needs when it comes to bags to carry around their supplies or purchases at cons, and no bag quite meets those needs. A standard backpack is built for school books, not a rectangular artists portfolio. And I can remember in the 1980s buying a Silver Age comic out of a dealer's briefcase. Not an ideal way to carry valuable books.
That is where the new HEX x Jim Lee Kickstarter project comes in. A pair of backpacks specific to the comic industry that should solve a lot of long-standing headaches is just what we needed.
The new HEX x Jim Lee Artist Backpack is built with amateur and professional artists in mind. With slots to spare for your brushes, markers, an 11x17 portfolio, a laptop, and tons more. This backpack will easily meet the demands of any artist on the go.
When working on the Artists Backpack, the idea then came up for a Collectors Backpack, and we immediately wonder where this has been all of our lives. With fleece-lined interior pockets for slabbed or bagged books, a pocket for an Overstreet Price Guide, and the ultimate dream of so many con-goers, a designated containment system for a poster tube.
Both bags will have a Jim Lee sketch of Batman on the interior lining created specifically for this project. The first 250 backers will also receive a signed Giclee print of the artwork.
The regular edition of the Collector Backpack will be $120 during the Kickstarter, or $135 with the limited edition Jim Lee sketch printed on the outside as well as the inside. The limited edition will also include a Batarang zipper pull. You can pick up one of each on a special price of $250.
The Artists Backpack will go for $240, or you can pay $350 for one Artist and one Collector Backpacks.
There are a few other combinations to choose from, and delivery is expected next month. Yes, as in July 2019. The campaign has not started yet, but we'll be keeping a close eye on it.
