DC Universe makes its way to the Xbox One

Xbox One owners in the U.S. can rejoice as DC Universe has made its way to the gaming console at last.

DC Universe announced on Monday that it is making its way to the Xbox One gaming console family. Users will be able to download the app beginning next week. Currently, it is available on Android, iOS, Amazon Fire TV, Apple TV, Android TV, and Roku.

“Since we launched DC UNIVERSE last fall we’ve been on a mission to expand our reach on new platforms. Fans asked for access to the ultimate DC membership on their Xbox One consoles and we are excited to deliver DC UNIVERSE to them starting next week. Our growing list of highly acclaimed original series, amazing library shows and thousands of comics are now accessible to DC fans and Xbox users alike,” said Sam Ades, senior vice president and general manager, DC Digital Services.

Unfortunately, however, it still remains available only to users in the U.S.

The price remains $7.99 a month, or $74.99 for an annual subscription. For that price, you get access to the DC Universe originals such as Titans and Doom Patrol, as well as other series such as Krypton along with more than 20,000 comics and more. Right now is also an excellent time to join as Swamp Thing will begin streaming on May 31.

I think its cost effective. Almost every weekend I watch a movie or show on the service. Also been reading a ton of comics. Doom Patrol and Titans alone are worth it for at least a month.

Totally agree. The shows/films and cartoons are bonuses. You literally save thousands on comic book storylines. If you’re not a fan of readDC comics, then it’s probably not your app.

    I was too. Still am actually. But I have boxes filled with individual as well as graphic novels. But now I can read whatever I want on my phone whenever without killing my bank account. Also, if the story turned out to be a disappointment, you don’t get buyers remorse.

DC and PlayStation already teamed up a few times for timed exclusive content. Plus Sony is usually last in terms of market share so if Warner is going to have a problem with a movie studio, it will be Disney.

      I was shortsighted at the time, admittedly, not fully exploring all of the facets to the decision that I should have, but also I did have more friends who were Xbox-users at the time, so it made sense from a perspective of enjoying multiplayer, too. Then of course that has changed now, too, but I’m already in deep, so basically screw me, lol

    PlayStation is for exclusives.Other than that, I think Xbox is the place to go.There are just too many reason for me to own it.Game Pass, Xbox one x having best console Graphics, Free enhanced games, Free Backward compatibility, Dolby Atmos, Xbox Play Anywhere, Best refund policy etc.

      You see it has all that but it hasn't really helped them, the PS4 has dominated this Gen. Hell the Xbox One X hasn't even produced an exclusive what visuals beat Horizon, Spider-Man, Uncharted 4 and God of War on a standard PS4. MS wanted a powerful machine but they wanted everyone else to show it off for them.
      This isn't me hating on the X1X and i loved the 360 but MS shat the bed from the start and never really cleaned it up, all those features are great but i want new games not games i played to death last gen and not endless sequels to series what have grown stale. Sony gave us Spider-Man while MS gave us Crackdown 3, that's not good enough. Hopefully MS rise from the ashes next gen and give us some great games and hell i hope they put Sony on edge as they sure need some challenge now that they are top and getting arrogant with it like they did with the PS3.

      Sony have dominated cause Microsoft F ucked up from the start when they revealed Xbox one with "Tv, Tv, tv" garbage.Power supply aka power brick with original Xbox one was ugly, Xbox one cost more than PlayStation cause of Kinect, PS4 held power advantage over Xbox one.Lack of quality exclusives became a problem recently but the issues i mentioned above are the reason that PS4 outsold Xbox to 2 to 1.And, It took very long for Xbox to turn things around.

      There were literally millions of people who said they weren't gonna buy the One and were switching to the PS4 instead after its reveal.

      For the first 2-3 years sure but Sony kept the hype going with exclusive after exclusive, as i said God of War and Spider-Man are prove of this and hell even Bloodborne was a system seller considering how huge the Souls player base is.

    This Gen has been appalling for MS games wise, Sony have released some of the best games this Gen while MS just sticks with the same thing after same thing with the odd "new" thing what might be great but ultimately isn't enough to sell the system. Where's MS's Uncharted? Horizon? Spider-Man? God of War? and so on? They really need to improve next gen or sales will just be bad again.
    Games Pass is great but lets face it the only reason it exists is because MS has nothing else to sell the console on. PS4 may not have Games Pass but sales and the exclusives have proved that Sony doesn't really need it.

      Yeah i don't like saying it as i really supported MS last Gen with the 360 what had a fantastic selection of games and was a great console but they killed my interest with the initial idea of the X1 what drove me back to Sony (i went PS1>PS2 and then 360), while the console has come on leaps and bounds the game selection just hasn't been enough to make me want one. Sad thing is Scalebound was the system seller for me but then MS went and cancelled it along with my small interest in the console.

      MS has free BC, game pass, much better online, more updates and support. And imo, the better controller.
      And if you own the X, it has the best hardware, a 4k bluray, etc.
      Oh, and it has freaking Halo.
      They're behind, but honestly, I see no reason whatsoever to buy a PS4 over the X if you don't care for exclusives. Sony have been pretty lazy in terms of being pro-consumer. Phil Spencer is the man.

      Spencer is the man because Xbox has no choice but be pro-consumer with Sony dominating the gaming world, if Xbox was lead you wouldn't have nearly as much pro-consumer stuff.
      The Xbox One may have all that but it still doesn't have any worth while games to justify owning the console, if you aren't into shooters way past their prime and a racing series what's catching up with AC and COD in releases then there isn't much. The hardware is great but as i said in another comment MS has yet to put out a game what matches Sony's exclusives visuals on just a standard PS4, when God of War and Spider-Man on a bog standard PS4 look better then X1 "Exclusives" on a X1X then something is seriously wrong. Frankly Halo hasn't been great since Bungie was making them.
      You can say exclusives don't matter but last year proved they do, God of War is winning countless GOTY awards what its deserves (hell it even has more then RDR2) and Spider-Man sold more then Arkham Knight and made everyone want a PS4 last year. All those features on the X1 mean jackshit if you don't have the games to back them up, i go where the games are and the PS4 has the games.
      End of the day sales speak and the PS4 is king and going by what we have been hearing about the PS5 today then there's a good chance that could as well especially when Death Stranding has been hinted at for it and then you have sequels like Spider-Man 2, Horizon 2 and God of War 2 what will be big hyped games as soon as they are announced (hell they are already hyped for and i can't wait to face Thor in GoW2). MS has some good studios (not great though especially compared to the ones Sony owns) now and hopefully they can get Sony to stop being so arrogant right now and give them a challenge.

      Completely true, but that doesn't change the end result. MS is much more consumer friendly atm.
      Also, the Forza games are split into 2 franchises, the Motorsport series and the Horizon series. Both of which have 2 years inbetween. Not really the same as CoD or AC.
      Also, Horizon is definitely taking a break because the studio is working on an open world game atm.
      I'd also buy the One for Halo alone, admittedly I'm a bit of a Halo fanboy but it's still better than ANY FPS Sony has ever released and it's better than most Sony exclusives period.

      Honestly, GoW4 looked extremely good and definitely matched some PS4 games at the time. Also, it may not be an exclusive, but RDR2 on the X looks better than anything you can play on the PS4 imo.

      That's the popular thing to say, but really dishonest in many ways. If you've actually followed to franchise, you'd know how that argument is untrue. H4 had the best storytelling the series has ever seen, without a doubt. H5 may have had a lousy campaign, but its Forge and custom games were obscene and blew away anything the prior games had done and the H5 MP was also one of the best (and definitely the most balanced) of the series, which most people agree with. Master Chief collection is also pure fan service.

      I think they matter a great deal. I'm just saying, if it weren't for exclusives (hypothetically speaking), then PS4 doesn't really have that much going for it compared to the One (X).
      Besides, the One has more exclusives than people give it credit for. Quantum Break, Sunset Overdrive (2 criminally underappreciated games), Ashen, Ori and the Blind forest, Horizon, Gears, Halo, Motorsport, etc are all GREAT games.
      Even games like Sea of Thieves, State of Decay, Titanfall 1, Killer Instinct, etc - while by no means amazing - are still pretty decent games.

      Actually Sony don't own the game rights Marvel do, Marvel could have gave them to anyone but as it Sony got them and in turn we got the best ever Spidey game. My theory is Sony allowed Marvel to use Spider-Man in the MCU and as part of the deal they were allowed the game rights.

      Yeah last Gen those games were great but they have grown old and stale and feel phoned in. Uncharted 4 while another Uncharted at least upped its game and ND clearly gave it everything they had, visually its also one of the best games out there.

      I think, Right now they are greatly positioned for next gen. and hopefully have learned from their mistakes.If Xbox can offer real competition to PlayStation next generation then it will only benefit us gamers by forcing both companies to do better.

      The same thing happened to the ps3 when xbox 360 was ruling, but the ps3 stepped it up and caught up to the 360 after a pretty bad start.

      It's odd how you only pay $10 a month continuously for PS Now. The first month for first time users is actually $10. After the first month, it's $20 per month. I would know because I actually subscribed to it. The fact that you just said you logged on your PS4 to see the $10 price tag confirms you've never used PS Now. Unless, you're checking on a different account that has never subscribed to PS Now. If so, don't try to pass false information as true. The pic you linked even says there that the introduction price is $10.

That "WHEN" didn't relate to PS4, it related to when the XBox app will be available. In other threads (and even responses to that one) Applejack has made it clear that they're not giving a timeframe for PS4.

This has been said already, but I really can't believe an Xbox deal with thru before a PS4 deal did. But this is still good news. With Xbox in the bag, that only means PS4 and other platforms won't be far behind.
