James Gunn reportedly using Guardians of the Galaxy costume designer for Suicide Squad

James Gunn is one of those directors who likes to stick with people once he has worked with them and they do a good job for him. While this is usually most obvious in front of the screen - and the fact he casts Michael Rooker in everything - it also carries over to behind the camera as well.

According to a new report from HN Entertainment, Gunn has enlisted Judianna Makovsky to be the costume designer on The Suicide Squad. Gunn previously worked with her on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, and it appears they will team up again in the DCEU. You can also see her fingerprints all over the Marvel Cinematic Universe having worked on Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Infinity War, and Avengers: Endgame.

Currently, the film has not been entirely cast, but it appears that Makovsky will be tasked with coming up with costumes for returning Squad members as well as new ones. We still don't know who Idris Elba is playing, but it is pretty certain that Margot Robbie is returning for another run at Harley Quinn. Considering the number of costumes she has in Birds of Prey, there's no telling what design she will end up with here.

The Suicide Squad is rumored to begin filming in Sept. and is expected to hit theaters on Aug. 6, 2021.

Big chance, This movie might end up making a billion dollars at the box office.Wonder Woman 1984, The Suicide Squad, The Batman, Back to back three successful billion dollar movies.WB would be on cloud nine when that happens.

  How? Deadshot looked cheap and awful, Killer Croc was bad and everyone else was plain and boring.

    ??? Deadshot was the *spitting image* of his appearance in the comics, besides the skin color and the eye piece being on the other side.
    El Diablo, too, replicates his comics look almost exactly.
    Enchantress was a unique, horror-inspired take on the character that most could appreciate, it seems, despite her being an awful character in the movie.
    HQ, once again, looked just like she’s supposed to from the comics.
    Captain Boomerang, AGAIN, recreates his look from the comics quite closely.
    Katana ALSO looks just like she does in the comics.
    And I’m not sure anything could be said to be objectively wrong with Croc; it is impressive makeup and costuming, to be sure. If it’s the fact that they took the more grounded, human-with-a-disease approach for the character, as opposed to the giant, fantastical monster one that bothers you, that seems more like mere personal preference than anything. He’s been depicted canonically both ways. And considering the tone and look of the universe SS was a part of, going the route they did could definitely be argued to make the most sense. So, while the character was misused, I’m not sure it’s fair to criticize his actual design, and again, whether they made the right choice or not, it WAS WELL DONE.

      Croc looking more human isn't the problem, it's Ayer forcing him to be "Gangster" much like Joker that just ruined him. I forgot Katana was in the movie so you got me on that one. Diablo was another boring gangster looking character. I like Ayer cause I love Fury, but he went way overboard gang look, did again with Bright. I get he has a history with gang films, but not everything has to be gangster.

      We’re not talking about characterization, but costume/makeup design. El Diablo looks just like that in the comics, so that wasn’t Ayer making things “too gangster.” What made Croc “too gangster”? The fact he had a hoodie? I initially wasn’t a fan of that either, but another user explained to me that that should be expected of someone with a skin condition like that, to want to hide, and I’d say that’s fair. It would be nice to see him shirtless more, though, I’ll give you that. But that seems like more of a nitpick than a major problem.

On a different topic, any clues why Shazam is doing poorly in the domestic box office despite critics and audiences liking it ? Weekday numbers were much lower than expected.

Is it because the action is underwhelming compared to the average CBM ?

This movie will be a re-purposed version of Guardians of the Galaxy. And critics will probably love it for that, cuz James Gunn is a "genius and the most creative voice of his generation" and stuff. I never liked any of the Guardians of the Galaxy movies. Plot-wise, character-wise, and especially humor-wise they don't ring any bells for me. Never saw anything special in them, and never will. I was actually down for Ayer's original pitch for the original movie - it being a supervillain version of The Dirty Dozen. That is still a good pitch, even if the actual movie was bonkers. But nobody will ever want to make that movie again because studios don't realize that you can do the same idea twice if you can make it better the second time around. Like they do with reboots, they always try to move away from the things that were in the original because that would be too similar. Robocop, Ghostbusters 2016, Hellboy 2019, what have you.
