James Gunn's Suicide Squad mission possibly revealed in new report

According to a new report, we may have an idea to the plot of James Gunns' The Suicide Squad, and it sounds like it confirms a few other reports.

A recent report on the potential Suicide Squad team roster called for in Gunn's script sure didn't sound like a group that could take on a high-powered target. You aren't typically going to send Ratcatcher in to fight Superman or the like. According to a report from Discussing Film, that isn't a concern.

Reportedly the team will be hearing to Qurac, a fictional country in the worlds of DC, to take out Onslaught. In the comics, Onslaught was a team of superpowered Quraci nationals that were sponsored by the government.

This fits in with the recent rumor that Gunn would be looking to the Ostrander/Yale run on Suicide Squad as the first appearance of Onslaught was in the first issue of the 1987 Ostrander series. The team at that time consisted of Chimera (actually a Squad member named Nightshade), Djinn, Jaculi, Manticore, Colonel Mushtaq, Ravan, and Rustam. As with the huge number to rotate through the Squad, Onslaught has also had many iterations, so there is a chance he will switch up who is in the team.

One new piece of info from Discussing Film is that it reports there are some rumors Killer Frost is in the script on the side of the Squad, but that is not completely checked out yet.

The Suicide Squad is slated to hit theaters on Aug. 6, 2021.

what's with this movie and all these "revelations"? It's like everyday there's some new rumour about this one.

Too bad we can't get a James Gunn version of black canary be part of the team but we will be getting a Harley Quinn instead....armed with a baseball bat and jokes.

I will never get the anti baseball bat argument. You probably don‘t complain about heroes using their fists. Let me tell you, a bat is gonna do a lot more than a fist. Put it in the hand of an insane, Olympic level gymnast and fighter, and it’s absolutely formidable.
This is just one of those things people who like to hate on stuff say because they read it somewhere and didn‘t bother to think about for a second.

    What's funny is I'm an animation artist and work for () and I was actually drawing Harley Quinn all day. I love the character. As an animated one. She simply does not work as a live action character. At least not the clown we saw in SS. Who knows maybe things will change in BoP. But if they do change, won't that admit to something?

    Agreed on people's commentary. She's a weird comic relief even for the Joker and Margot Robbie was a hand-picked fan favorite for the character which is why she succeeded where others failed. It is hard for the dynamic that she and Joker should have to work on the big screen with the abusive nature Joker has toward her, but outside of it, she's zany enough to be entertaining. But to each his/her own. That popularity is going to keep her popular as a live-action character regardless of how they spin her in film.

Sounds promising. I hope it's a mission that lasts several days/weeks in the movie, too, so the Squad can bond with one another.

The first Suicide Squad fell into a cardinal trap that many ensembles have a problem with and that is developing a team-relationship WAY too fast by making the central plot/mission finish in one night. It makes it very hard to buy how the Squad could go from "I don't like this group" to "You're my family!" in the span of a few hours.
