on Zack Snyder thanks fans for buying "All the Gods" shirt in support of AFSP

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice director Zack Snyder put fan curiosity around his original plans for the DCEU to proper use, raising money for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.

The money was raised via sales of a t-shirt featuring a graphic that appeared to outline Snyder's plan for DC Films from BvS through two Justice League movies. It also included Joseph Campbell's "All the Gods" quote.

The shirt was sold exclusively on InkToThePeople for 30 days, raising over $69,000.

Snyder tragically lost his daughter, Autumn, to suicide while Justice League was in post-production, forcing the director to step down from the film. It is a credit to Snyder that he has been able to inspire DC fans to support an important cause and help prevent other families from enduring a similar tragedy.

no we're not. you're just an asshole trying to talk shit about him while he is promoting an important cause. that shirt has nothing to do with "what could have been". its about giving something for the fans and the fans giving back. seriously grow the fuck up.

"The campaign was launched by ForSnyderCut.com last July, a site started by fans wanting to see Zack Snyder's original vision for Justice League. Snyder left part way through filming Justice League after his daughter took her own life. Avengers director Joss Whedon then took over the directorial chair. Since then, the campaign has used the hashtag #5for5 to raise money through $5 donations to AFSP."

In other words or was Zack. Snyder saying thank you for the fans for starting the campaign.

So allow me to reiterate, you're a fucking asshole pushing your own bullshit hateful narrative because of your personal preferences.

I think you are looking at it from a very negative viewpoint from Snyder. Dude left his dream project that he was 85% finished completed to be with his family and while he was away the studio hired another director to rewrite his film w a new score, tone and removed story lines and completely changing the film.

The catch is that to save face from the press with the rewrites/re-calibration the studio just left Snyder's name on it even though it was really no longer his work.

So yeah I think he's' upset that he was promised that Whedon was going to "complete" the film he started out making by finishing up the post production but instead re-filmed over a 1/3 of the movie and changed the entire look of the film w brighter color grading/new score/changing designs on Steppenwolf, removing most subplots and adding in a Russian family (seriously though why the Russian family subplot?). So actually I understand why he is doing this. He gains nothing from it financially just gets awareness to both his work of art that was ruined along w suicide prevention (the matter that brought him away from his work).

          Kerk Lastnameless

Speaking of which, it seems he is still getting the producer credit on some future DC movies. Maybe I'm reading too much into this, but this starts to look more and more like a ransom deal. As if this was WB's way of placating him to have his mouth shot about that hole business. No doubt if he revealed what happened, it would damage WB's reputation, more so than his own.

          1. Kerk Lastnameless Avatar

Here's what I found strange about that whole situation -- she died in may and he left in July -- whooping 3 months after the fact, as he said, 'to grieve with the family.' Second, that announcement came from Snyder himself, so the only conclusion I can make is that he used it as an excuse to save both his own face and WB's. What I think they told him around June is, 'you go quietly and your future with us will be secured.'

not as fragile as your ego and arrogance. the shirt was for something for the fans who supported him during his tough time. hence why its something they care about. it was a way of saying "thank you for the support through this difficult time". by donating to the suicide prevention center, he is honoring his daughter.

        1. Human target Avatar
          Human target

It was meant to be a thank you for their support. Simple as that. Donating that money to suicide prevention is whats significant to her.

Not you're just here making ridiculous accusations and claiming moral Superiority over someone just because you didn't like their movies. That's how fragile your ego is. And since your accusations are based on nothing but biased blind hate and skewed perspective, don't be surprised that you're getting called out for it.

    4. Robin Bankes Avatar

Damn you are one bitter bastard lol it totally makes sense for him to do this with the shirt, he's trying to incentivize people to donate to AFSP and he has a creative cost-effective offering of value that tens of thousands of people are salivating for...that's just smart on his part, you seem like an intelligent guy, it's bizarre that you can't put aside your suspiciously undying rage for this man to admit a good idea when you see one.

      2. Robin Bankes Avatar
        Robin Bankes

This is an interesting theory, but it's total speculation and conjecture. You say he's self-serving, but 3,600+ people (the amount of people you asked about who bought shirts totaling $70,000 in funds raised for the AFSP for selling scraps of cloth, objectively impressive) say he's a selfless and inspiring hero for giving all the proceeds to a charitable cause (quotes include "but to us, Zack Snyder is a hero. Thank you Mr. Snyder" and "Great design! Thanks Zack for this, the kind words, and help going towards suicide prevention. You’re an inspiration. God bless." and "Love this! Great shirt and amazing cause! We can all be heroes in different ways." just to list off a few). You say it's the sorest subject of his professional life?...nah, if that's the case he wouldn't bring any attention whatsoever to his plans for the DCEU, he'd never bring it up again, instead he's proclaimed the pride he has for all the work he and his teams have done for the DCEU movies, plus he started a new cinematic universe with some of the greatest comic book superheroes of all time, has a devout following of fans who adore him and his work, and made the studio billions of dollars in worldwide box office revenue in the process...clearly nothing but a shining point in his professional career with some expected speed bumps along the way, especially considering how ambitious all this was. Also, if he was just jerking himself off as much as you claim, he'd be on twitter all day every day shouting from the rooftops and more and he's not doing that, so there's no proof of doing this purely for self-pleasure, obviously his hearts in the right place. Clearly he's proud of his work with the DCEU, he loves his fans and wants to quench the thirst of those pining for the Snyder Cut, so he generously threw them a bone and gave the money to charity...objectively the guy is smart, strategic, and selfless hero as many have celebrated. The End

you are so full of shit. get your head out of your ass. there is nothing self promoting about this. he is not promoting his next film on the shirt nor does he have his name or his face all over it. he did something nice for his fans who supported him, and he is donating it to suicide prevention.

zack snyder's dceu was the same as james wans dceu and the same as patty jenkins. it was to give a chance for each director to do their own thing.

also he never took aim at the justice league movie. never did. not once.

doesnt matter. the movie was still massive box office hit, and the ultimate edition which was his version of the film was much better critically recieved.

you need to stop it with this pathetic obsessive hate for everything he does, stop making shit up about him and twisting things just to fit your personal hate narrative just because you didn't like his movies.

the shirt was meant to be something for the fans to raise money for suicide prevention. it was a thank you for their support. that wasn't how he was honoring his daughter. him raising money for suicide prevention is how he honors his daughter.

You have basic knowledge and use it as if you know what your talking about. Your argument is as weak as rice paper my friend. You argue as if it’s fact when it’s your opinion, one that is very wrong. Yes, you are aloud to have an opinion but that doesn’t make you very very wrong. If you really believed in your opinion and didn’t think you were biased what so ever then you would see the other side of the argument, which would strengthen your over all contention. But you don’t do that, your to arrogant or stupid or both. Next time actually think out your argument instead if repeating the same shit over and over.

He put up the T-shirt because it was served to the fans who stood by him and enjoyed his work, you say that this is done due to get validation, but why does he need validation from his fans? The answer is, he doesn't. We seek validation from others, your statement that he sits in an echo chamber by his fanbase is completely self-perpetuated. Why would he surround himself with people who don't want to enjoy his work and overall criticize his work? That is just dumb, you could argue that by allowing himself to be surrounded by his critics would give him the opportunity to grow as a filmmaker and change his artistic view. But this people who criticize his work don't give any constructive criteria other than hate. I'm not going continue any further, cos i have other things to do than argue about a director. Its funny how you insult my originality and question my comprehension skills by reading one piece of text. There is no need for that. The concept of being in a constant echo chamber is interesting, so i think every comment section i will be telling people to block you and see how it feels. Have fun talking to yourself where everyone on this site has blocked. :)

The shirt was meant for the fans. The money was meant for the foundation and for his daughter. Just because you have seen more money raised doesn't mean its not a good amount of money to be raised. And it doesn't Lena he didn't donate the same amount of money or more. You're making conclusions based on nothing.
