15 Years of Coverage (2010-2025)
IGN has exclusively unveiled the first trailer for Justice League vs. The Fatal Five. The heroes of our time battle the “heroes” of the 31st Century with Green Lantern Jessica Cruz caught in the middle.
While there is plenty of new material to enjoy here, this trailer also has the look and feel of Justice League Unlimited. That fits with Batman: The Animated Series and JLU producer Bruce Timm on board for this one.

I am so looking forward to this! Reign of the Superman was awesome and I'm expecting Justice League vs The Fatal Five to be even better especially with the animated show's designs and voice acting. So hyped!!!
Oh my gosh, I’m so excited about this! This has GOT to be in the DCAU, right?!
It's possible, its the same art style and the same voice actors for the big three.
Yeah i'm sure it is, the Trinity are voiced by the big 3 and have there JL/JLU designs.
It is. They've confirmed it.
Wait, when? Where?
I wish there was a DC collective or cabinet that reviewed every film and script for DC before it is released that is made up of guys like Bruce Timm and other key members of DC Comics that have blessed the universe and been a staple in the game for as long as they have been. Glad cats like Jim Lee have a bigger foothold in the DC world. It's certainly part of what we need for DC Films.
This one looks like a good one.
Who says there aren't.
The films that were crap says they're not. Guys like Bruce Timm and others would have placed more consideration into past scripts. We need to be able to secure the mojo going forward.
Everytime i look at DCs animation i get frustrated on how the dceu couldve been by now.
Marvel, on the other hand, is about to introduce the fantastic 4 and the x Men to their cinematic universe. I'm so jealous of Marvel fans
This is why i love being a fanboy of both DC and Marvel haha. Hopefully DC film wise sorts itself out but its worth noting as good as the MCU is it hasn't got The Dark Knight Trilogy and Wonder Woman >>> Captain Marvel always.
True, true. I've never liked many Marvel properties. I'm just into X-men and the FF actually. none of their live action movies are good imo except for X2.
And yeah, marvel has a great cinematic universe but nothing close to the Nolan trilogy
I like the X-men. I don't like the FF. Neve did, never will.
I'm really not. I honestly don't know how they'll make the Fantastic 4 interesting. They've always sucked imo. Comic wise and movie wise. I'm just not a fan. I'm also not sure how they'll do the X-men in a new or interesting way.
I really like the FF. Their powers are cool and I like when the characters have just one power. X-Men and FF alike have mostly one ability each and then they can so other shit with it. I like the relationships in each team too.
I think they can make Xmen better by casting older actors and getting more accurate suits. so a mix of the old and new xmen franchises. I believe this is a great opportunity to go back to a stocky wolverine hot headed, mean wolverine, a leader cyclops...
FF... they can do whatever and it will be better than the last one lol
My main problem with FF is that they're for the most part boring and generic. The only character I somewhat enjoy is Ben Grimm. The rest of em are generic archetypes you see in Marvel everywhere. Reed is the smart, rich, inventor/scientist.
Sue is just whatever and Johnny is a generic hot head douchebag. Nothing interesting about that imo. The only reason I love the fact that Marvel can use them is Victor Doom. The only character from the fantastic four that doesn't suck.
There's nothing about them that's diverse enough thematically to make them interesting. They're just generic superhero team number whatever. The family aspect is cool. But Batman's family is a million times more interesting.
And I think it's a tragedy that the X-Men will be a part of the MCU. The themes of prejudice and mass persecution will be forever lost.
We don't know that yet. I just don't think theres much left for them.
Spot on. In a movie world with beings like Captain America, Thor, and Hulk saving the day for years who's really going to care about "mutants" with dangerous powers? It'd be a moot point and yesterday's news kinda thing.
Looks good.
So glad my girl Jessica Cruz is the lead and finally getting more love. Also i'm so happy it has the Timmverse look and is pretty much another film in the DCAU.
I'm already hoping they'll do more of this after it.
I think they will especially if sales are good.
I hope you can clarify something for me. I'm not caught up on the Rebirth JL yet (I'm working on the Post-Dark Multiverse League story now), but last I checked it seemed like Jessica and Simon require one another for their powers to work? Is that right? Or did I read it wrong?
They shared a Lantern what meant they had to remain partners for a while(and that run was fantastic) but they could use their powers without needing to be near each other, its just if they needed to recharge they needed to be together to use the Lantern. Can't remember the exact details as its nearly 3 years now since i read it but Hal fused their Lanterns together so they could learn together and stuff, nowadays though they have their own Lantern and aren't a team any more sadly.
Ah I see, well, thanks for explaining! I find it strange that Simon and Jessica seem to be "missing" from the continuity right now. If they're in a book currently, I don't know which one.
Jessica is in Justice League Odyssey at the moment, its not a good comic and i gave up with it but she's currently part of that. Baz pops up now and then but he's currently on rest as there's not much for him to do right now, in fact only 3 of the main Lanterns have actual comic time right now, Hal is the lead in Grant Morrison's run (what is pretty good so far), John is the main GL in Justice League and Cruz is with JLO. Kyle, Guy and Baz are just kinda doing their thing off page right now and show up now and then for the odd issue of something.
So Guy isn't a Red Lantern anymore?
He hasn't been one for years now.
Well, alright then.
Looks like they gave M'gann Supergirl's personality.
DCAU >>>>>>>>>>>> New52
DCAU >>>> most things.
What is something that is not greater than the DCAU in your opinion?
For me it's the Young Justice universe. I think of that as the definitive ultimate animated universe. But by an inch. Both are great universes, that's for sure
I said most things not all things. DCAU = YJ. Sometimes I lean towards the DCAU and sometimes I lean to the YJ universe. But it's a toss up. I love em both but for two different reasons. I love the way the DCAU handled it's adult characters whereas I love how the handling of younger heroes in the YJ universe.
It's a bit of a trade off tbh. I prefer the older heroes in the DCAU pretty handily (With a few exceptions). But the YJ universe smokes them with how they handle the younger ones. It's a trade off and I'm ok with it in both cases. The only case I prefer the DCAU with young heroes is Batman Beyond. I just love Terry Mcginnis.
No other animated universe comes close to either the DCAU or the YJ universe. The only thing I can think of that's close is X-men and Spiderman. But even then I don't think it's very close.
agreed. I do not mind the adult characters in YJ at all though, they are just sidelined unlike the young characters in DCAU which are non-existent. (unless the teen titans count as dcau)
I actually really like Supergirl in the DCAU. She's probably the best young character aside from Terry Mcginnis (Who I love) and Robin/Nightwing (who was criminally underused). The DCAU had an entire series revolving around a young hero and it rocks. I just wish they did more.
Batgirl was alright but she was non existent most of the time. I just don't think they explored that realm of the universe enough to be satisfying.
wait, JL and JLU takes place in the same universe as BTAS and STAS?
yes
Batman Beyond too.
Wait, did you not know this lol?
i knew about beyond, btas and stas. but I din't know JL and JLU were technically the same batman and superman
They are. Isn't that awesome? And it isn't even technically. The only difference between JL and Btas is the costume. If you see Bruce in JL he looks exactly like he does in the New Batman adventures.
cool, I believe you. But they do not look exactly the same. https://uploads.disquscdn.c...
He switched costumes. I'm talking about Bruce Wayne under the mask. They look the same in both shows. The only difference is that they gave him dark eyes like the original version in Btas.
gotcha
To be honest it doesn't take much, N52 in both comics and most of the films have been a disaster. Hopefully now that Reign is done (a pretty good film) they will ditch the N52 look and go full on Rebirth.
I actually disagree. I like pretty much all the N52 animated films with one or two exceptions.
Admittedly disaster was a strong word and not really true but other then the SS film, Death and Reigh i've found them to be decent at best and downright awful at worst. Death is the only one i think what can stand alongside stuff like Red Hood, TDKR, Year One, Superman Vs The Elite, Flashpoint and so on and considering there's been a lot of N52 films that isn't good.
Hmmm. I guess we'll have to agree to disagree lol.
Awesome! I hope this is the beginning of more DCAU content. I would love to see a continuation of Batman Beyond and the Batman Animated series. (I think Beyond got a perfect ending by the way, but a movie set with Terry and Kevin Conroy would be amazing)
awesome!!
love the classic animation
Hopefully J'onn, Wally, John, and Shiera have some kind of appearances in this movie, or they atleast explain why they're not with the league on this mission. Although I wonder if it's because the voice actors couldn't come back this time, or if they just didn't want them for this movie? I'm fairly certain Michael Rosenbaum would come back in a heartbeat if asked.
Well, J'onn retired during the JLU final season when he felt too disconnected from humanity, and left Mr. Terrific handling the dispatch of League's missions. John could be back at Oa (at least hope he'll get a mention though). Now, HG has a rocky history in the DCAU, maybe that gets a little explored, one can dream.
Edited because of minor misspellings.
While true, J'onn did come back briefly at the very end, so that's why it seems difficult to treat that as a permanent retirement rather than a sabbatical. John being at Oa is plausible (although perhaps strange since at one point Kyle and John asked to switch places and the Guardians said no). Hawkgirl is a toss-up and so is Wally. There was no indication that Wally would have any reason to leave.
I still have my hopes high that Wally is in this movie, just not in the trailer... he has to be...
When we can expect trailer for Joker Movie?
Loved this trailer. Nostalgia always does the good work.
Mr Terrific - one of the most boring characters in DC. He is never gonna happen.
You know, this just makes me wish they would make a JSA animated show.
The live action Stargirl show, which probably won't be bad, will most likely disappoint just because of the constraints of being a live action show.
Geoff Jonhns is personally writing Stargirl so it’s going to be good.
Maybe, a live action show has a lot of other factors that can effect its quality. (like the performances of the actors, the director's vision, the production design and cost...)
But honestly so far I like the casting choices
I kinda hate admitting this, but I have to own it. I'm tired of seeing a superhero trailer that's all punching and crashing into buildings. Again.
I'm officially old. :( :p
Of course, I'll buy it on blu-ray, I own the rest...even that putrid stinker TKJ.
What didn't you like about The Killing Joke?
The same stuff most people like me who aren't fans of it say, the new material before the actual adaptation of the book that turns Batgirl into less of a heroic character for me and so wholly unnecessary and that an adaptation of TKJ was never really necessary, especially with the book's ending which is so open to interpretation that having it depicted in a movie for you defeats that purpose for some.
While in the shadow of the choices Superman made in the "Man of Steel" movie, for what it's worth, I'd recommend The Brave and the Bold #33 with Wonder Woman, Zatanna and Batgirl as a better pre-TKJ story for Barbara.
If it is in the vein of the old animated shows i might watch it
So, after The Killing Joke and Batman & Harley Quinn, what perversions is Bruce Timm going to put into this one? Who are going to have sex in the middle, what female characters are going to be sexualized and talked about sexually by male characters and how much alcohol do I have to consume in order to be able to watch this?
Despite them saying that Batman & HQ was canon, it's clearly not. The characters just don't act like themselves. Also, people give Bruce Timm too much shit. Nothing he's done has been unbearable to me. The HQ movie seemed like it was supposed to not be taken seriously, while this movie is. If you can't get over a sex scene that makes you feel uncomfortable, you should probably grow up. I can't stand people who give up on shows because they have to look at a naked actress for five seconds (in this movie, you know they won't even show anything like that). It's 5 seconds, surely you can make it through 5 seconds of content you don't like?
My problem with that scene was that she pretty much raped him. And that would have been fine if she was presented as a villain but she wasnt.
Exactly. That was messed up, I didn't find it funny to be honest. At the end, why did Nightwing and Batman kiss Harley? Even though it was on the cheek, they would NEVER do that.
It was not just about Harley fooling Nightwing to being raped. It was the whole movie with out-of-character moments from so many characters for the sake of cliches. Nigthwing struggling to remember who Alec Holland is, Batman 'needing' Harley to find Poison Ivy, that one ARGUS agent talking about Lady Shiva's sexual appeal to Batman, that bar scene, Batman trying to use fighing type moves against a grass type enemy like Floronic Man... Even Ash Ketchum is not that stupid... and Harley casually asking why Batman is not using fire against him.
I took a shot while watching that animated fanfiction every time anyone did something stupid like that and almost died of alcohol poisoning... according to my friend after I told him about it.
I never watched it in full, so I wasn't aware of the full scale of it's stupidity.
Jessica Cruz is dope.
So this pretty much looks like Justice League: Throne of Atlantis. Which i didn't like because they clearly had to make the Justice League looks inferior so Aquaman could be the main character and win the final fight.
