HBO aired a first look at its 2019 original series during the Golden Globe Awards tonight. The preview includes footage from Watchmen! You can see the footage approximately 13 seconds into the video.

It's not a ton of footage, but we do get to see and hear from Jeremy Irons' Adrian Veidt.

Going from the man who did Sucker Punch to the man who did Leftovers is the biggest glow-up for a DC property since Schumacher to Nolan

If it wasn't for The Leftovers, I'd be critical of this adaptation existing. But you make a show as damm brilliant as The Leftovers (especially season 2 and 3) then I'll trust your risky take on an iconic graphic novel.

Season 2 & 3 are two of the greatest seasons of television ever made, and the finale broke me in a way that almost no piece of media ever has. Lindelof & co. produced such a deeply, profoundly humane show out of a premise as large as it is, which gives me so much faith in this.

    Grow up.
Also, nothing in Snyder's filmography is 1/10 as good as The Leftovers.

You must be a very well adjusted adult if small things like that strike a nerve.

I’m trying to figure out how this Watchmen show will turn out... the guy who’s making it is telling us that it’s an adaptation or paying homage to it. I’m very curious

So it’s like... X-men but without any of the X-men in it ?

I mean we clearly see Adrian Veidt, so it'll probably be the same characters, but not as how we know them, so exactly like Fox's X-Men.

Nothing to go on here really, other than it's not an adaptation of the book at all.
As a form of advertisement, there is no hook or clear idea of what it's about to draw viewers in. The only people who will take any interest in this clip will be existing Watchmen fans, who are skeptical so far.

To be fair, this is more a sizzle reel of upcoming HBO shows. Watchmen will got a proper trailer that'll actually, you know, tell us what kind of show this is.

I wonder if Abdul-Mateen will play Reggie or if Reggie is going to be in it at all or maybe the original Rorschach wil not have died in this one.
