The Stargirl casting announcements just keep coming as we now know who will be playing Rex Tyler, aka Hourman.
On Wednesday we learned that Joel McHale is playing Starman in the DC Universe Stargirl series. Then on Thursday we learned Brian Stapf would be taking on the tights of Wildcat. Now we know who will be playing Hourman. According to an exclusive report from TV Line, Lou Ferrigno Jr. (S.W.A.T.) will be taking on the role of Rex Tyler.
First appearing in Adventure Comics #48, Hourman was co-created by Ken Fitch and Bernard Baily. This version of the character for television will be keeping his affinity for chemistry as a character trait and will be an adrenaline junkie.
As with Starman and Wildcat, Hourman was a member of the Justice Society of America. From all of this casting it sure sounds like we're going to be seeing a sizeable number of these Golden Age heroes. We saw a version of the character on Legends of Tomorrow early in that series' run..
Stargirl is being executive produces by Geoff Johns, Greg Berlanti, and Sarah Schechter. Once completed, the series will be shown on DC Universe in the U.S., but no word as of yet on the foreign outlets for the series.
