Jason Momoa Says Henry Cavill is Not Done With Superman

on Jason Momoa Says Henry Cavill is Not Done With Superman

According to Aquaman himself, Jason Momoa, his teammate Superman isn't going to anyone other than Henry Cavill for some time to come.

Speaking with Entertainment Tonight at the premiere of Aquaman on Wednesday night, Momoa was asked about Henry Cavill's status with the role of Superman and whether or not the actor had indeed left the role. "I just talked to Henry... He's absolutely not [leaving the character]," Momoa said. "He loves the character. He's not. One hundred percent," he added, "It's absolutely [not going to happen]."

Back in September rumors circulated that Cavill had left the role, and this was immediately followed by an intesely odd video posted by the actor. Since that time things have been fairly quiet on the Cavill front as attention turned to whether or not Ben Affleck would again take on the role of Batman. With Momoa out on the publicity circuit for Aquaman, it does seem it's falling to him to keep everyone updated ont he status of the overall cinematic universe.

We'll just have to wait and see what happens. No matter how positive Momoa may seem, it's up to Warner Bros. in the end.

If Shazam does well and people go apeshit for the Joker film (im now a little worried about it) and BoP stays R-rated and Gunn does to SS what he did with GoTG....Then we will be waiting a LOOOOONG time for a Superman film.

Why are you worried about the Joker film? I think it looks pretty cool.

I was in the same boat but looks can be deceiving. I think this movie is gonna be more character study film that takes place inside Flecks head. Just a hunch, plus, after watching DeNiro on SNL this past week, i literally truly believe i am a better actor. And i cant act. Did i also mention he has a prominent role? Think this may be a dud.

I very much doubt his role is anything but dramatic so I wouldn't worry about his shit SNL part. That being said, while he hasn't been on top of his game for a long while I don't think this'll be that bad. I think he'll be at the very least serviceable and that's enough because the Pheonix's performance is the one that matters the most and I'm almost certain he'll be great. I'm also not convinced about the all in his head theory either.

We shall see. If DeNiro has a prominent role, remember this, the film will suffer critically.

I'm actually cautiously optimistic. I don't think it's gonna be as bad as you might think. That's what my gut is telling me at least.

          Lol at deniro part.

Now that you said that about this Joker movie... Man, I hope that's not the case. . . If it is, oh well...

I have an exclusive quote from WB about Henry wanting to stay as Superman.

Focus on ww, aquaman, shazam, suicide squad, flash, cyborg and then after flashpoint bring in the big guns bat and supes, people already love those characters so no need to bring them back anytime soon. One solo for each and then do JL 2. And also I hope WB makes a red hood and outlaws. It would be cool if the solo bat film would be under the red hood or court of owls

For God's sake they are making A Joker movie, a Harley movie, a Plastic Man movie, and greenlit trilogies for WW and AquaBro behind closed doors most likely. Meanwhile, a Batman trilogy is expected with an entirely new Batman.

I would say the DCEU (which is a totally madeup word because pathetically enough there was never official confirmation) is dead, and Cavil is very much history thank goodness.

    1. sbs138 Avatar
      sbs138

Relax. Let Reeves have a trilogy with a younger Batman that tells the story of how he got to BvS. I'd be down for that. We don't know what's happening so why bother freaking out about it?

      1. Bartholomew Hunt Avatar
        Bartholomew Hunt

        "We don't know what's happening…"

But we do. WB is making a U-turn, leaving the dour, soulless feeling behind. Affleck and Cavil are done, and the shared universe is dead.

Absolutely none of that has been confirmed.

SS sequels and spinoffs by the dozen, Batman movies set in the DCEU, Aquaman and WW movies continuing the preestablished characters, WB and Henry’s agent and Henry and Ezra Miller and Jason Momoa all confirming Henry’s not done as Supes - I’m not seeing how the DCEU is done...

      1. Bartholomew Hunt Avatar
        Bartholomew Hunt

Of course you don't. Then again, you also didn't see that Justice League was heavily interfered with. For months you argued that it was still a Snyder movie and that he himself brought Joss on board. Remember that?

        1. NinjaGamer13 Avatar
          NinjaGamer13

Yes, I do remember that. But this is a bit different wouldn’t you say? When there are actually tons of movies being confirmed by the day that are still set in the DCEU that are coming out?

Year 2056, Snyderbots: WB hasn't officially terminated their contract with Cavil, so we might see MoS2 soon.

for someone who said he felt closer to the character with Whedon, I'm very skeptical about Cavill being the right guy at this point, especially with his acting range

He’s a company man, he’ll say whatever he has to. He said we were getting the “true Superman” before Whedon came in, with Snyder, too.

I guess The Batman animated cartoon will be the closest batman to me imo just perfect in every way in one sense its cool to see batman fighting cops but that's not batman there has to be a better motivation for him going rouge. I understand this is like an Elseworlds depiction but still

Wow it's like the future is uncertain for the character because there's no actual films in the production process that feature Cavill. Who'd have thunk that it's not set in stone just because they released a film slate four years ago saying what movies they wanted to make by 2020.
