Joker Wraps Production: Joaquin Phoenix Bids Farewell to New York in and out of Costume

December 4, 2018

For several months, many believed Todd Phillips' Joker movie would never get made. Then the film actually started production and set photos of Joaquin Phoenix in full costume were all over social media. Now, the film has reportedly completed principal photography.

Daily Mail reports that Joker wrapped production in New York on Sunday. New photos of Phoenix as Joker and Arther Fleck accompany the report and they are definitely worth a look.

Phillips has been sharing updates on the film via his Instagram, but has not publicly called wrap. It is possible that production is done in New York, but there will still be some additional photography elsewhere. Whenever cameras are done rolling, hopefully Phillips will make the occasion with a new Joker image.

With production ending, we're going to need official images from Phillips and Warner Bros. The well of unofficial photos is about to run dry.

I'm actually pretty hyped for this and that's mainly because of Phoenix.

I’m hyped for his performance more than the overall movie

I'm so 50/50. Phoenix is an amazing actor and he doesn't just accept any role that he is given but at the same time you also have a divisive director who hasn't really made anything that is great or amazing.

I thought the exact same thing about Tom Hardy and Venom, and the movie was awful

I'm probably the only one feeling a bit underwhelmed about this movie. I have a feeling this is going to be a very small scale story. Hope I'm wrong, but it's certainly looking like it.

I think it’ll be extremely low on cgi (if any).

I hope this movie is good, i also like that this is a stand-alone, which i assume it will be, feels like honest story telling attempt, i could say im slightly excited for this one after DCEU killed my hype.

De Niro is supposed to be in this movie, right? I haven't seen any photo of him after all those leaks.

What is interesting is that De Niro doesn't appear on the director's Instagram either. It shows that he used social media to give a first look at Phoenix and a few other actors before shooting in the street, because there was no way to prevent leaks for those characters.

That's a good thing. The photo leaks from all the paparazzi were a joke and started to kill my excitement for the movie. Glad he is under wraps. Just hope he's actually in it.

Well, that was fast and when it comes to The Flash and The Batman it's still a mirage. This movie will make money for sure, I have little doubt.

Calling it now: Joaquin Pheonix's Joker is the illegitimate son of Thomas Wayne, making him and Bruce half brothers. Envious of Bruce, he kills Thomas and Martha in an alleyway in front of Bruce's eyes.

Interesting. I def think there will be major twists and not just a straight forward origin.

    SPOILERS****
I can confirm that Arthur Fleck is in fact the illegitimate son of Thomas Wayne in 2019 Joker. Him being the one who kills Martha and Thomas due to envy is just my guess though.

Do you think he’ll be ‘the’ joker or a proto-joker (as some rumors say, even tho that would be a huge rippoff of the Gotham tv show storyline)?

Wow. He shot the same stairs scene as the joker and as himself. Think that is going to be one of those split personality type shots.

If any one here feels like this movie looks underwhelming just remember this movie was filmed on location. Lots of cell phones out there and there has been so much raw footage it might be giving the feeling of low quality to some I suppose. The final product will be a motion picture not a you tube video. I can't wait for this movie!
