A Barbie movie has been in development for years at Sony, with Amy Schumer and Anne Hathaway both attached to star at different points. But after being stuck in "development hell" the project is now heading to Warner Bros., and some big names in the Warner Bros. and DC Comics family may be involved.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Margot Robbie is currently in talks to star in Barbie. She would also produce the movie via her LuckyChap Entertainment production company. As for the director? Warner Bros. would like Wonder Woman's Patty Jenkins to direct Barbie, though THR notes that "substantive" talks between the two parties haven't started yet.

    Any creature from this planet and beyond would be an improvement over Amy Schumer who is universally hated by the right and left (who's her audience?). Personally I think Patty and Margot are too good to be attached to a freaking Barbie movie.

        Joaquin Phoenix is probably the best actor alive right now; I'm fine with his Joker looking a little weird if it means we get another amazing performance from him. Also at least he doesn't look like a try-hard cringe-fest like Jared Edgo.

      When the cast was announced, I thought for sure Bill Camp was gonna be Gordon, or at least a Gordon-esque character, and this footage only confirms that might be the case

    The Deadline article a few days ago said Patty Jenkins isn't involved anymore.

        Gal Gadot has a few other jobs lined up after WW84 wraps. PJ will probably direct something (but not Barbie) before they reunite for WW3. I'd predict it's released in (and set in) 2022.

          Directors have a lot more work than actors. They're in charge of script & preproduction. Actors can go away to do other projects during this time.

      I remember misreading it as "Amy Poehler cast as Barbie" and thought that could have been a very clever and funny satirical take. Amy Schumer tho has some pretty bad comedic timing imo, so I don't think it would have ended up being any good.
