'Batman: Mask of the Phantasm' and 'Superman: The Movie' to return to theaters for their big anniversaries

This year, Batman: Mask of the Phantasm will have its 25th anniversary and Christoper Reeve's Superman: The Movie turns 40. To celebrate, Warner Bros. is re-releasing the movies across 500 theaters in the US.

Batman: Mask of the Phantasm will hit theaters again on Monday, November 12th at 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. local time. Tickets are available now via Fandom Events.

Superman: The Movie will be in theaters for two days. First, on November 25th at 3 p.m local time, and again on Tuesday, November 27 at at 3 p.m. and 7 p.m local time. Tickets are available now via Fandom Events.

    We need this type of Superman back on the big screen in a brand new reboot... iconic, legendary in every way with the John Williams score!

      Nah, I love Williams but Zimmer's score feels more emotional and uplifting.

      will never get why some people don't think Zimmer's superman themes weren't absolutely incredible. I think its some of his best work imho. Meanwhile everyone else is drooling over Interstellar and Inception(no disrespect to those, I just don't get why people thnk they are so much better). Its really pains me to think that we might never see this incarnation of superman again. So much wasted potential...at least we have Man of Steel.

      I actually did my undergraduate senior research on comparing/contrasting Williams' and Zimmer's takes on Superman and how they both essentially told the same story in different ways. I was a Music Theory Major.

      I love both scores and think they both have a lot of merit.

    The mask of the Phantasm's twist was the first movie twist I had experienced in my life. Years later as I see the film, it becomes clearer to me that Andrea is the perfect one for Bruce. I hope to find someone like her someday...

    It will be interesting to see how these do at the boxoffice in comparison to the DCEU versions.

      There won't be any way to do a fair comparison. These movies will only be in 500 theaters.

        Nah let him in his hapiness, he still thinks that the classics are going make at least 10 billion dollars (for each of them) :D

        I mean it won't be a completely fair comparison of course, but it is more than enough to serve as an indication.

        Absolutely enough data to extrapolate from. It's one of the more common types of work statisticians do, and I wouldn't be surprised if there are not some articles writing about that.

        But yeah, they probably won't do amazingly anyway.

    one thing i never understood is how mask of the phantasm flopped in theaters. everyone i knew loved btas. so why wouldnt they come out to support it in theaters? i remember the theater bein surprisingly empty when i went to see it.

      I didn't even realize they released it in theaters for a long time; may have been weak advertising.

      I only found out years after I saw it aired on Toonami.

    In 1978 I was 14 and went to see Superman: The Movie. I grew up on Batman and still is my favorite but this movie for me at that time was amazing! I loved the soundtrack so much I went out and bought the vinyl double album back then!

    I recall seeing MotP in the theatre. I think there was only 5 of us in the there. Great movie. I watched the trailer for it about 100 times; since it was on vhs, there was a lot of rewinds. The novelization was pretty good too.

    Already got my Superman ticket.

    I saw MOTP in theaters as a kid! Loved it! And of course grew up with Superman! I’ll be seeing both.

    Mask of the Phantasm is the single greatest Batman animated ever. (And even revivals half of the live-movies.)

    I'm gonna let the argument now begin as to what follows for #2 animated and so forth....

      Half? I actually think there are only 1 or 2 live action films that are better. It's top 3 as a Batman film imo.

    Which version of the Superman 78 is this? The theatrical cut or the long version that WB has released recently?

    That is great news for the U.S. fans. For home video fans; some good news came last week though from Warner Brothers. They announced last Wednesday that the theatrical cut of Superman: The Movie is going out on 4K UHD Blu-ray from November 6th.
